Build Up Your San Andreas Gang is the first game of its genre and the only one which was sucessful, unlike Let Your Own Faction Rise or Create Your Own Character, hosted by Secronom President and released on January 8, 2011 at 04:22 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). It has currently 112 missions and more than fifteen different designers (retired or still active, some banned). It is currently under the tenth version (V1, V2, V2.1, V3, V3.0.1, V4, V5, V6, V6.0.1 and V6.1). The first goal of the game is simple; you pick up a gang (Orange Grove Families, Ballas, Los Santos Vagos, Varrios Los Aztecas, Russian Mafia, San Fierro Triads, San Fierro Rifa, Da Nang Boys, Leone Mafia Family, Sindacco Family, or/and the Forelli Brothers) and design missions about them. What's fun with this game is that it's a mix of real life and that your missions can turn into a storyline. The rating system goes, depending on how good is your mission good, from $0, which is an impossible to play mission, to $100, which is a perfect mission. Nowadays, you must create your own gang and raise it to the top. The staff member rating the mission must rate it following these criterias; length, difficulty, variety, text (punctuation, grammar, etc.), and other stuffs (like text coloring, bug-free, etc.). If you put your best in your missions, there are big chances you will get a good rate. If you don't, well, you'll see for yourself... Between V3 and V4, there was a huge change: new features adding a roleplaying feeling to the game and more. Between V4 and V5, there was also a huge change: the gangs were from the SAES:RPG server on MTA. Between V5 and V6, there one major change: you must create your own gang, you start with nothing apart from you, you have the possibility to raise your gang through seven different levels (level 0 (unoficial), level 1 (official), level 2 (official), level 3 (official), level 4 (official), level 5 (official), level 6 (elite)) which require you to achieve some requirements, you can make allies and enemies (which allows gang wars, you must complete missions to gain gang members, etc. In V6.0.1, a new rating system was implement. The two new criterias were Realism and Text Coloring. Gang Wars feature was removed and new jobs were made to give people more chances at joining the BUYSAG staff. In V6.1, the Gang Wars feature was added back, the rating system was edited (removal of the Text Coloring criteria), three new statistics appeared (Gang War Won, Gang War Lost, Type (Gang: Criminal, Police: Squad, Company: Civilian) and the Gang Levels were edited (rewards and requirements. Also, level six was removed.) Also, it is the second most popular thread in DYOM: Missions and DYOM: Support followed by DYOM Missions Review. It has 102 pages and 2026 replies.

Build Up Your San Andreas Gang has been pinned thanks to all our fellow designers who voted it as the best topic in DYOM forums for the DYOM awards.
This quote above is the result of the 2011 DYOM Awards. the Build Up Your San Andreas Gang thread has been voted as the best topic in the DYOM forums. As a result of this, is has been pinned. As it is one of the most popular threads and staying alive on its own, they staff members didn't want to pin it. But, since it won the award it won, it got pinned and everyone is happy and saying congrtulations to Secronom President (note: he is the only designer who won two awards: Most Helpful and Best Topic on DYOM forums.) Here are some quotes from other players:

DYOM Mission Index
This thread was made, by Secronom President, on January 5, 2011 at 03:32 (GMT - 5:00 Hours), at the time when the 'Search' tool only worked for staff members and a few chosen ones among the normal members. Its goal is to unite all the missions into a single thread, yet there are only a few. The concept of this thread is simple; ask for your mission pack thread to be put in the list and it'll be done. There's nothing more to add to this...
DYOM Missions Review
If you make a mission and want feedback on it, ask in this thread! It was made by AznKei on July 1, 2010 at 01:24 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). The first review done was on July 1, 2010 at 01:47 (GMT- 5:00 Hours) and the mission reviewed, Weapons Free Zone, was done by Dstrickt. The system might seem complex, but it's easy as '1+1=2':
QUOTE ( (AznKei @ Jul 1 2010 @ 01:24))
For those who aren't very familiar with my rating system. I will explain how it works:"Writing" is focused with the mission dialogues and instructions quality. The rating depends the structure of your writings and how easy we can understand them. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---] Decent ---] Good ---] Very Good ---] Excellent."Presentation" is focused on visual and storyline quality. The rating depends how accurate the camera in your cutscenes are and if you put things that surprise the player like the explosions, the stunts, etc. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---] Decent ---] Good ---] Very Good ---] Excellent."Length" is focused on the time the player spends on the mission. The rating depends how long the mission lasts. The rating goes like this: Too short (1- min) ---] Short (2 to 3 mins) ---] Decent (4 mins) ---] Good (5 to 6 mins) ---] Very Good (7 to 9 mins) ---] Excellent (10 to 14 mins) <--- Long (15 to 20 mins) <--- Very Long (21+ mins). "Difficulty" is focused on... well, the difficulty on the mission. The rating depends how hard the mission can be for an average player perspective and how accessible it is for the mainstream players. The rating goes like this: Very Easy ---] Easy ---] Medium <--- Hard <--- Very Hard! <--- Too Hard!!."Variety" is focused about the amount of contents that can be found in the mission. The rating depends how many different actors, weapons, objects, vehicles and pickups can be found in the specific mission. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---] Decent ---] Good ---] Very Good ---] Excellent.
Now, to get deeper in the threads' history, let's talk about the reviewers. At first, there was AznKei. Then, somewhere around 2010 or 2011 (I am not sure...), Secronom President asked him if he could help him doing some reviews. After a test, it was concluded he had the skills and answer was yes. After some time three more joined their ranks; jetjatin, SatournFan, and maliksusanto. If you want to be one, you either need to PM him or ask in the thread.
This thread was made by Secronom President on December 23, 2011 at 15:22 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). This is the "Palace of all DYOM Movies." These movies are made with DYOM, but aren't just cutscenes made. There is also gameplay. Everything is then edited on a video editing program and published on YouTube.com.
Currently, there are sixty four videos from GalacticXp1 and twenty two videos from LnD (leoncj.)
DYOM Video Reviews with Commentary
This thread is similar to AznKei's one, only you make a video of you giving commentaries and voice-acting the mission. Doublepulse is the one who initiated this idea on February 9, 2011 at 21:13 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). The first video was made by himself on February 15, 2011 at 06:17 (GMT - 5:00 Hours) and the selected mission was, The Desert Attack, by Chimpso. Since then, the two major people doing video 'reviews' are AznKei and himself.
Need a teaser or a trailer to advertise one of your newest mission pack? Request it there! It'llbe a pleasure for jetjatin to make one for you. Follow these simple guidelines; give a link of the missions you want to be featured in the video, name a song you want in it, and add any other information that could be useful.Anyway, the thread was first posted by jetjatin, as said above, on January 31, 2011 at 10:46 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). In this topic, you will find useful info about programs to use to record and edit your trailers and tutorials on how to use them. Also, here's a list of the trailer makers; jetjatin, pauliux2, SevilleCheng, Drift-Kingz (on recess), Uros12, xMatix, leoncj, and Brian Walker. Some of them retired from making them, and some made a few ones but were not added into the list. Service has been a little bit slow lately, but don't worry.
Every DYOM Missions Designers
Started on Thursday, Dec 8 2011, 23:45 (GMT - 5:00 Hours) by KaRzY6, it contains all the information you need about all the DYOM users on GTAForums.com. It is still WIP (Work in Progress) as written in the topic.
Johnny Nixon Chronicles
The Johnny Nixon Chronicles is the first mission pack of its genre; it involved many different designers into making the storyline's missions. It was published on December 19, 2010 at 11:22 (GMT - 5:00 Hours) by Jimmy_Leppard. The participant involve active, retired, or banned members. The idea came from the approach of the 10 000th mission in the DYOM missions database on dyom.gtagames.nl. The storyline consisted of 28 missions made by 16 different designers; mati1501, Jimmy_Leppard, Doublepulse, pauliux2, TonyCJ, SevilleCheng, GTA!!!, Samil, UNRATED69, xMatix, OG Thug, SatournFan, Brian Walker, C!TRU5~M!XX3R, volan123 and me, Secronom President. The introduction was published by mati1501 on December 19, 2010 at 16:22 (GMT - 5:00 Hours) and the last mission was also published by mati1501, in two parts, on January 29, 2011 at 07:09 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). The mission pack is available on GTAGarage and it was downloaded by Secronom President. Here's the link for the download: Johnny Nixon Chronicles.
The Designers Code of Honor
This thread was made by Secronom President on August 2, 2012 at 02:05 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). It contains all the rules you need to know before posting. Most of them were unwritten rules now made official. At the moment, it contains eleven rules (rules one to nine, credits to Secronom President; credits to xGhostx for rules ten and eleven.) Another topic was also created to discuss the rules, share ideas, suggestions, etc.
Both were later removed, but there rules are still enabled.
The Designers Lounge
This thread was made by Secronom President on January 7, 2011 at 01:05 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). The goal of this topic is to maintain useless thread such as 'Next mission pack' or 'Should I do an expansion?' to the minimum. It is a sort of chat place allowed by PatrickW and Dutchy3010. You an discuss ideas for your next mission pack, ask general questions, etc. in the Designers Lounge. Still, keep the off-topic to a certain point or else it'll be locked down for a while...
In addition to that, on Thursday, Feb 2 2012, 06:40 (GMT -5:00 HOURS), this was the first thread in Desing Your Own Mission history's to reach one hundred pages. The lucky person who made that special post is none other than guib. Later on, on Friday, Feb 3 2012, 09:46 (GMT -5:00 HOURS), this was also the first thread ever to reach two thousand comments. The lucky person who made that other special post is none other than -S-hark21. Not to forget this is most popular thread with 159 pages and 3170 replies.
The Games Inventory
This thread was made by Secronom President on August 2, 2012 at 07:41 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). This is an index of all games there were made by the community throughout the years. Currently, there are twenty two linked games' topics.
The format goes like this: name; description; version; last post; topic status; creator. The name is the name of the game; the description is what is the game; the version if what is the version of the game, if any; the last post is the date the last post was posted; the topic status is if the topic is open or closed; the creator is who created this game.
The Tale of Jack Frazer
This thread was made by Jimmy_Leppard on June 3, 2011 at 12:15 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). This community project was like Johnny Nixon Chronicles but with a different story and whole load of new characters (even some from JNC made a return). Almost all the ones who participated in the previous CP enrolled in this one. The first mission was published by Jimmy_Leppard on June 3, 2011 at 12:19 (GMT - 5:00 Hours). Differently from the Johnny Nixon Chronicles community project, this one had two endings: one made by Doublepulse (which was the last released) and one made by SevilleCheng or SatournFan

Changes (in comparison with version 5.0):
-Major bug fixed. We think this caused a lot of unkown and non-reproducible crashes. -Colouring objective texts will be with a + instead of ~. That last sign caused lots of trouble. You can use a + with shift+2. Besides, we created a shortcut. If you type CTRL-r it will generate +r+. -When you edit a objective, you don't need to type your text again!!!! -You can write a storyline (Beta topic for more information) -Created a pauze menu to: abort, save progress and load progress during a storyline. -Copy your actor with CTRL+P.
Goal of the beta's was trying to fix as much bugs as we could. We did fix a lot of bugs, but if you find any more bugs, please report. After version 6 beta 2 we fixed some more bugs.
It file has a size of 0.374MB, and was downloaded 18 610 times and it will continue to grow by the time until a V6.2 or V7 appears. They uploaded on GTAGarage on February 3, 2011. Here are the latest features, fixes, and options, as quoted by PatrickW:

DYOM V7 Beta
The release of DYOM V7 beta was on November 5, 2012. Secronom President and xGhostx were pre-beta testers. Here are new features, improvements and bug fixes as quoted by Dutchy3010:
QUOTE (Dutchy3010 @ Nov 5 2012 @ 17:55)
Moving cutscenes For cutscene objective, you can now choose between four options: Static: Identical to the old (v6) cutscenes linear: Camera moves with constant speed from the previous position to the selected position. smooth: Camera moves with acceleration and deceleration from the previous position to the selected position. Follow actor: After you position the camera, you will be able to select one of the available actors ( with Y and N), that the camera will follow during the cutscene
Sound Support This version support custom sounds during your mission, by means of mp3 files. Each mission is assigned a random "audiocode" when created (or saved for the first time with V7) This code determines the directory where the mp3 files for the mission must be placed. The audiocode can be viewed in the missions menu. mp3 files must be stored in my documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\SD\XXXXX\ where "XXXXX" is replaced by a random 5 character code. Two types of mp3-files can be placed here: am.mp3 : file with ambient-sound, that is looped during your entire mission 01.mp3, 02.mp3, 03.mp3, nn.mp3: sounds that will be player once at the start of each objective. If a objective doesn't need a sound, you can just skipt the mp3 file for that mission. Note: The directoryname: SD\XXXXX is in uppercase. The filenames: am.mp3, 01.mp3, .. are in lowercase
Teleport to car as passenger with option to enable drive-by For Teleport to car the menu is extended with 'seat selection' and driveby. This allows you to put the player in a passenger seat, and assign another actor as driver. If you switch-on drive-by, the player can shoot from the window.
Moving object on approach When placing an object, a menu is shown, in which you can select "move on approach". You are than enabled to select another position for the same object. The object will normally at the first position, but is the player approaches the object, it will move to the second position. You can configure the distance at which the player triggers the movement as well as the time it takes the object to move between the two positions. This can for example be used for gates.
Moving objects along path In the new menu when placing an object there is another entry to let an object move along a path. You can choose between three speeds, and you can define a number of positions/orientations for the route. This works similar to defining a walking route for an actor. You can choose between a single movement or a repeated loop over the route.
Ammo configurable For player, teleport, actors, objective actors and weapon pickups.
Healthbar option for 1 actor The actor menu has the option to display a healthbar for that actor. Note that only one healthbar can be display at a time. If you have multiple actors with healthbars, only one of them will be shown.
"must survive" option available for all actors This is now a regular option in the actor menu, and can be used for any actor, not just for friends.
A second enemy gang There are noe two enemy gangs for actors and objectove actors, which will not only fight the player and friends, but also eachother. Note that "kill all enemies" has been changed to "kill whole gang", thus refers to al actors of the same gang as the objective actor.
Pickup all similar pickups (optional with counter), for Pickup objective Similar to "kill all enemies/kill whole gang" this option for an objective pickup, makes you have to pickup all available pickups of the same kind as the objective pickup itself.
"Sprint" route animation Walking a route with a speed above "running"
"crouch" route animation Walking a route in a "crouched" walk.
"Multiple locations" animation. Chooses randomly from set list of possible locations An "animation" for an actor. You can select several positions for this actor, and when playing, one of those positions is choosen at random, and the actor is positioned there. The orientation of the actor will be such, that it faces the original location, where the actor was defined.
"Random" option for actors When choosing actor-models, you can now choose "random". In game, a random skin will be choosen.
"Random" option for weapons When choosing weapons, you can now choose "random". In game, a random weapon will be choosen.
New objects stairs, houses, walls, bridges, loopings, trees, furniture, roadblocks
New Animations swat-moves, stances, etc
Camera movable during object placement To make it easier to position objects, during object placement you now have the option to move the camera. BY holding the capslock lock, you can use the cursor keys to reposition the camera.
Shift-6 gives ":" instead of "="
display model-id during actor, object and car model selection
Better camera placement during carselection
Display during routepoint now indicates and checks maximum of 64 points per route (existing limit)
Turn of CJ's voice when not in CJ's skin
Space during cutscene skips "all in a row"
Route edit improved (faster, more stable)
Several stability issues solved
Health regeneration fixed
Phone model shown during "talk on phone"
Display bug during editing pickups fixed
Error in timelimit handling fixed
Fix handling of secondary color during "edit vehicle"
Fix messages referring to 'ENTER' key for cancel
We really hope you like this version and would like to hear any comments and bugs.

This event started on June 11, 2011 at 16:58 (GMT - 5:00 Hours) and was posted by Dutchy3010. The voters had to fill in a list of twelve categories: seven of them related about the DYOM Modification itself and the five others about people, thread, and other things on the DYOM Sub-Forums. These were: Best Mission Designer, Best Mission, Best Storyline, Best Cutscene, Most Wanted New Feature and Most Annoying Bug for the DYOM Modification section and Most Helpful in DYOM Forums, Best DYOM Tutorial, Best DYOM Video, Best Topic in DYOM Forums, and Best Review Maker for the DYOM Subforums section.
Although we can simply count the votes to come up with the winners, most of the designers are still waiting for the winners to be announce and the awards to ge given.
Sadly only the first beta mission of codename zulu is available on the site, so we pinned that one, (for now)
Best Cutscene has been canceled due to lack of votes

QUOTE (PatrickW @ Saturday @ Oct 15 2011, 21:37)
With pride and joy we hereby present you the updated DYOM website. Not only did we put the site into a new layout, but we also added some exiting new features that have been requested by the community through many channels. And to be honest, with the 15000 missions milestone coming up, the site could use some more structure.
The most important new feature is that you can now create your own free account at this site, which enables you to login. Once you are logged in, you will be able to comment to missions from others and rate missions and storylines in the showroom.
All uploads are now in either the Showroom or the Dumping grounds. The Showroom contains all uploads that are connected to an account of a registered member. All missions that you upload while you are logged in will automatically end up in the showroom. It is also possible to "claim" missions that you uploaded in the past, by using the edit-link of that mission while you are logged in.
In contrast with the missions in the dumping ground, which are uploaded by non-members, uploads in the Showroom can be rated by other members with 1 to 5 stars. This makes it easy for visitors to identify good missions.
Furthermore we've added numerous smaller new features that you will stumble upon, such as: profile-information, member and mission statistics, tutorial listings and the option to only show English missions.
Have fun exploring the new website, although the Showroom might be rather empty in the beginning, we're confident that it will soon fill up with high-quality work created by the community.
QUOTE (Dutchy3010 @ Sunday @ September 9 2012 @ 20:15)
Dear DYOM users, DYOM designers, Senior DYOM designers and moderators,
We are proud to announce another update for our website. This major update includes tutorials and video's (trailers).
Tutorials There was already a section at the DYOM website with tutorials. This section was (and is) devided into two parts: the text tutorials and the video tutorials. However, it was a bit outdated. I've seen many good tutorials which weren't on the site. The big difference is that YOU can add your own tutorials now, both text and video's. It will be shown in your profile and in the list of tutorials. Your tutorials can also be rated by other members. Tutorials are highly appreciated by other members and by the DYOM staff. It shows that you are a good designer and really want to help other users. Tutorials are also shown in the hall of fame.
BB-codes The list of BB-codes increased, mainly so these can be used in the text tutorials (however, it is possible to use them on your user page description). You can use the following BB-codes:
Video's Another new feature is that you can upload video's ("trailers") to the DYOM website. You can upload a trailer for EVERY mission on the website, but it has to be approved by either the staff or the maker of the mission first. A trailer can also be rated by other members. People can view the trailer on the userpage of the maker of the trailer, on the page of the mission and in the list of trailers (Showroom > trailers). This is a great way to attract more users or to help other (good) missions. It has to be a Youtube video, and you can add it by going to a mission and fill in the small form about the trailer ("Propose your own trailer of this mission"). Trailers are also shown in the hall of fame.
On the frontpage a random submitted trailer will be displayed.
Reports Of course, it is possible to report trailers or tutorials. For example when you think it contains material that isn't allowed on the DYOM website or when you think the trailer/tutorial is stolen. You can report a trailer by reporting the mission page or the userpage of the maker of the tutorial (please clearly state that it's about a trailer!). A text tutorial can be reported using the "Contact the staff about this tutorial"-link at the right hand side of the screen. Videotutorials can also be reported using the userpage of the designer.
We hope you enjoy the new features and we like to hear your opinion about this update.
Spam Era/War One
This event started and ceased when DYOM: Support and DYOM: Missions were one. The most notorious guy in it and that is the most well known his TonyCJ. Yet banned, he continues to make accounts to come again on the forums. If my memory is not wrong, it lasted a few weeks or months until Secronom President made a thread about his fake leaving to make the moderators, Dutchy3010 and PatrickW, do something about the situation. Here's the link directing to the thread, if you are interested to read it: Enough is enough!. People assume that the content of this topic, well the first post, is what that made them to ban TonyCJ.
Another figure we tend to associate with the Spam Era/War I is ilovegta1234567. Yet, the reasons which made him getting banned are forgotten to me. Still, he acts like TonyCJ. If you look at his Facebook account, we can get an overall reason of why he acts like that, ilovegta1234567 I mean: Andreas Nielsen. Nothing is sure about if TonyCJ has an account on Facebook though.
Related to this, another user which was banned a couple of weeks ago, brought the souvenirs of it back to us in DYOM: Support. The fellow hebekie was then banned. Here are the two related threads: To members about the chaos and Ahahahahaha. The first one is more related to the Spam period. The second one is more to make people remember about this thread related to the Spam Era.
Spam War Two
The 'Spam War II' lasted not even a day, but we can still consider it as a kind of war/era. The instigator was, once again, TonyCJ... This time, instead of beeing a good boy, he used the 'devil' way: he really spammed big. Mostly threads, but some posts too, were his work and they contained something like 'mukippukaka'. It is believed it was an insult in his language or some random letters put together, yet one thing his sure; it was long like on page of twenty normal posts containing a few lines, maybe even more! Some of his messages contained real sentences though.

Examples of Good/Medium/Bad Mission Packs' Threads
You probably didn't know, but yes: there are three different type of mission packs' threads. The good ones, the medium's, and the bad threads. These depend on different factors such as information, the missions, etc. Instead of reading, why don't you give it look?
Before you say something, read this... A mission pack with too much information is like one with not enough. Yet, the difference is that the one with too much is a mdeium one while a thread with not enough is a bad one. A mission pack topic with a medium ammount of info is what we can consider as a good one which is what everyone wants.
Writing has a part to do in which of the three categories your mission pack topic will fall in. Something like this: "Yo waszup gays! Imma nouew gy dere!" will put it in the bad zone. Something like: "Hi, guys. Me a new person here." will put it in the medium area. Something like that: "Hello people. I'm a new designer here and I hope we will have fun." will automatically put it in the good one's category. Yet, you must know how to dose/mix the writing and information. It's a 'balance effect', in other words.
At the time DYOM: Support and DYOM: Missions were one single forum, the rule was to put the [TUT] tags in front of a tutorial topic, and the [MP] tags in front of a mission pack thread. Times has changed, but most of the old rules still remain.
Flaming other people's mission packs, spamming, going off-topic are things we don't link and that can result you into getting temp-banned or definitively banned. Look at TonyCJ or ilovegta1234567, if you want to have a preview of what's waiting for you.
Also, support questions has to be asked in DYOM: Support. DYOM: Missions offers no service in the help of bugs, and other related problems with DYOM. Your thread is most likely to locked, yet sometimes it might be moved.

-Thanks to Dutchy3010 and PatrickW for Design Your Own Mission. -No, I didn't do it in one day. -Yes, I did this thread to help everyone. Older and newer designers, I mean. -You cannot comment in this topic (when it is open for edits), but you can suggest things that should be added in the Designers Lounge
Thanks for reading,
