So i finally got around to finishing A Dance with Dragons and I must say It's probably my 2nd favorite behind Storm. Although its slow at certain points I enjoyed the ending. I have trouble believing he finishes this story in 7 books though.... so much still untold.

Just finished up A Dance with Dragons, great novel. All the novels have been fantastic although I wasn't the biggest fan of the split story arc. The wait for the next book is gonna suck ass though. I can't remember who it was I think it was W - J - F who was talking about George Martin dying before finishing the series, so reading this on wiki made me lol.

Martin is confident he will publish at least The Winds of Winter before the TV series overtakes him, although he has told major plot points to the two main Game of Thrones producers in case he should die.

I too just finished ADWD. So many crazy cliffhangers. I was really hoping for at least a big battle at the end.

Let's say a new season will be out every year, therefore

Storm of Swords 1 - 2013

I'm sure he has notes and other stuff. I bet another writer could pick up the series if Martin died. I know how people hate that, but it's better than ending the series on a cliffhanger.

I read an interview with GRRM were he said that hes aiming for 2014 but expects 2015 for TWoW release.

He also said its going to be the bloddiest book of the series to date. It's such a long wait but I think its going to be an epic book. I just hope Arya and Sansa get back into the fold and get the long awaited Stark revenge that keeps me reading these books.

Feast of Crows and Dance with Dragons occupy the same time (for the most part) so that those books would not be adapted as you state they would be. I would think two seasons would be dedicated to those books, maybe enlarging them to 12 episodes if necessary but not three seasons.

Also, if they take three seasons to tackle Feast of Crows/Dance with Dragons, that would mean that HBO would be seven seasons into a series with two more books (at the least) to adapt of a series that probably would cost quite a bit..

Thankfully, the series really doesn't explore many new locations (save for a certain storyline) so that that should not drive costs too much, but the costs of the series will be a major factor.

I'm also interested in how they will incorporate the ages of the various child actors into the story. I'm quite certain I've original read that Martin was going to jump forward in time but did not because he kept making the flashbacks larger (this is commented on by a certain character in the books if I recall, a certain web-spinner who laments that he didn't have enough time to put his plans into action, though I could be reading something into Littlefinger's words .

I would think the final two books should come out relatively soon.

Further, if something happened and a delay was order, HBO could go to Starz route and do a prequel to fill the gap. I'm sure plenty would be interested in Dunk and Egg's tales along with the Rebellion.

I cannot wait to see Ramsay Bolton on the show. His sheer brutality and sadism is incredible and makes almost everyone look heroic by comparison.
I think we got a quick look at him in the preview SIKKS66 posted, riding with his army and the banner of the flayed man. Now there's a guy I respect.
