We've added streetview to our interactive map. You can now drag the streetview icon () to any highlighted road to see a panorama of that location.

All roads are covered, except for a few on/off-ramps that weren't very interesting. There's around 3,000 separate panoramas which were stitched together from almost 80,000 in-game screenshots, and the final set of tiles consists of over a million images.

It is best viewed in a browser which supports HTML5, such as Firefox 4 or Google Chrome. These browsers are able to compensate for distortion in the projection which is most noticeable when you're looking up or down. But don't worry, it should still look reasonable in older browsers too.

very well done but i would take that google logo off before you get a letter saying google street view is copyrighted and you get sued just a fyi.

Why Vanilla instead of EFLC though?

FF_sniper: it's using Google Maps API, I think the logo is required to be there.

If you take a closer look it says 'Powered by Google". Everything is fine as is, no legal issues.

Far too long considering how pointless it is.

To do it again, capturing and processing images alone would take a solid 140 hours if everything worked first time. That's the easy part though - just set it up and leave it running. Deciding which locations to capture, getting the capture script to work (especially when you know nothing about modding) and finding/configuring software to stitch the individual screenshots together took all the time.
