Honestly, DR1 was a good game but with two very big flaws: Friendly-AI and the free-roaming. DR2 ironed out all those flaws.

No it didn't. It just made survivors almost never get grabbed by zombies which made it too piss easy and DR2 still had NO sandbox mode.

DR2 OTR is where it was all fixed.

Its better than them wearing giant "Eat Me" and practically throwing themselves at the zombies. And getting stuck behind walls.

The trouble with DR1's free roaming was that it blocked off all the more interesting weapons and locations unless you do the story missions so if you want to muck around, the main missions are cut off and you have nothing to do. Anything is a step up from that.

The only thing blocked off early in the story in Dead Rising was Carlito's hideout and the clock tower tunnel.

Entrance plaza can be accessed very early on in the story too.
I don't know what game you've been playing, because the entire place is practically unlocked from the beginning.

Dead Rising 2, you can't even enter the maintenance tunnels until very late in the story, you can't even enter fortune city hotel/south plaza until a bit into the story and hotel rooftop/ yukatan rooftop at all until near the very end of the game

You can't even f*cking unlock special weapons that will then spawn in the safehouse at all times.
In Dead Rising 1, you can.
Also in Dead Rising 2, you have to pay sh*tloads of cash to be able to use any of the vehicles that are any good.
Dead Rising 1 lest you use any vehicle right from the beginning.

I have played both Dead Risings a while ago and I can remember you have about 2 parts unlocked from the start.

I guess most of this is from memory so you are probably right but considering how almost every critic I've met says that its better.. F*ck, even Yahtzee loves Dead Rising 2, so I don't know what's your beef with it.

It's the same kind of deal with Saints Row the Third, It's the first time they (yahtzee not included, he isn't the messiah of what games you should be playing) played the game because it is more widely available which deludes them into thinking it is actually good despite never having played the first ones for a considerable amount of time.

I have been pumping quarters into this game from 1982-now. I played 1 quarter yesterday. I can go for a good 30mins and longer on a quarter. That should be a testament to this being the best game I ever played.

I'm not just saying that to old man up this thread or anything. The thing about the original DK is there are almost no patterns. There is only one known pattern at a small part of the game, and even that pattern requires amazing timing and there is still a ton of risk. There are no real 'tricks', just methods. You have very limited time to catch your breath.

But really it is the randomness that makes this game tops. It forces you to develop crazy skills to cope.
