| QUOTE (mnbvcxzxcvbnm @ Sunday, May 29 2011, 19:14) | Hi everyone. I’ve been reading through all the detective work that’s been done by you all so far and to be honest you should all be working for the FBI with the effort you’ve all put in regarding Darkel. I only really found out about the whole thing a few months ago and I’ve read a fair bit in these forums about it so I thought I’d chip in with my ideas. Even when I first played GTA3 back when it came out there was something about the Diablos that didn’t seem right, like they weren’t a ‘proper’ gang like the others, which has made me think that maybe they were originally Darkels gang. Perhaps when Rockstar decided to take him out of the game they thought ‘why don’t we put that guy from the old game in instead?’ (I believe El Burro was in GTA1 or 2 if I remember correctly). There are a few reasons for my thinking, mainly because (a) the Diablo ‘turf’ is so close to the Tunnel containing the four Molotov tramps, (b) as far as I know you never actually SEE El Burro apart from the loading screen cartoon (maybe they didn’t have time to program his character into the gameplay), © El Burro’s ‘porn empire’ storyline seems a bit weak and… um.. crap, like the reasons that he wants you to kill all of these gang members aren’t really very believable, as if it was the first thing that they could think of, and (d) all of El Burro’s missions could so easily be the rumoured ‘Darkel missions’ (with a bit of adjusting). I will explain:
Mission: ‘Turismo’ Real mission: Answer phone, get told to get a car and go to the blue marker for race, win race (hopefully). Possible Darkel mission: Answer phone or meet Darkel, get told to find a school bus and rig it with a bomb from 8 Ball OR just pick it up from 8 Ball ready to go (there are a lot of school bus shells near his garage), park up on the same blue marker as the proper mission (next to the Old School Hall, which I believe used to be a proper school in the original screenshots), let students board bus, get out, BOOM!
Mission: ‘I Scream, You Scream’ (I think this one was confirmed as one of Darkel’s unused missions from what I’ve read.) Real mission: Answer phone, get bomb and ice cream truck, park up and activate jingle, wait for gang members to crowd around, then BOOM!....Again…. Possible Darkel Mission: Exactly the same but instead of gang members they could just be pedestrians (or business men in suits to fit in with Darkel’s storyline).
Mission: ‘Trial By Fire’ Real Mission: Answer phone, get told to kill 25 Triads with a flamethrower for a really pathetically weak reason, um… do it. Possible Darkel Mission: Answer phone etc etc….but instead of Triads, it could be just pedestrians or shoppers or workers or whoever else Darkel hates…..
Mission: ‘Big n Veiny’ Real Mission: Phone, get told stuff, follow a junkie, collect stuff he drops…….yeah I’m getting bored now too…… Possible Darkel Mission: ok….so I haven’t actually thought of this one yet….but… y’know….the XXX mags could easily be something else a bit more ‘trampy’…….the driver could even be a drunk member of Darkel’s gang that’s gone off the rails and needs teaching a lesson. You can see what I mean though.
I’ve mainly typed this out just to get my thoughts straight in my head but It’d be interesting to see if anybody that’s messing with the game code could prove me right or wrong, or if anyone else had similar thoughts that maybe the Diablos were originally Darkel’s gang and Rockstar just jiggered about with the missions a bit, painted some flames on the side of a Stallion car, and Slapped El Burro’s face on the instruction manual….. oh and if this has already been said before don’t hurt me, I haven’t had time to read every forum about the subject, I just hadn’t noticed anyone else saying the same thing as what’s been going through my head every time I speed through that tunnel and plough into four paralysed tramps just for fun | nice

Why should they? I think after that the game will lose it's mystery aura... Plus, Rockstar has another games to take care about. GTA:IIII and the era is done now, as they stated. | is there suck thing as GTA IIII Lelz XD... Back on topic This is amazing... You found a beta, I think modder would know what to do with that, maybe it will finally be at least 99% possible to make GTA III beta, we JUST need a pic of Curtly... Amazing find, try looking deeper for Curtly's missions, good luck!

Yeah mnbvcxzxcvbnm , you are right, i mean, El Burro was a major character back in gta 1, he couldn't get so down by the time gta 3 arrived, he was the boss back at liberty city in gta 1, they could have and i think they did replace Darkel with El Burro, and hell, Darkel is far more interesting a character, i wouldn't say f*ck Rockstar, but f*ck the f*cking government who cut this game pretty heavily.
My theory, is that is Darkel who helps you escape prison, not just a coincidence with cartel releasing their boss, i believe, Darkel was with you in the Prison van, and his assistants raided the van, releasing him and you with him, and i also believe that 8 Ball was not supposed to be in the game either, it was all meant to be Darkel, he helped you escape prison, so you have to pay him back, why else would you be doing crazy terrorist missions with no purpose? And why the hell blow up the f*cking bridge?? It would be the only way to keep Claude from exiting the island.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers me or not, I've taken a break of several years on these games and modding (and now have to teach myself everything about modding GTA from scratch again, dammit!).
My theory is that any missions that were cut from GTA:3, if they were even worth doing, have showed up in the several visits to Liberty City since then. But MOST LIKELY, they were just crap and didn't work well and that is why they were cut to begin with. There is no other explanation why Rockstar would cut out perfectly good stuff and keep it from the public. That just doesn't happen.
Over the last several years I did time working at Activision, THQ, and a couple other companies and found out some of the sad realities of the business. If we had a release date on a game coming up (SEE: shelf space in stores already reserved for our "product") and some piece of crap thing in the game wasn't working, we'd just cut it out rather than wasting time and maybe blowing a release deadline.
There comes that point of no return when the execs just want to burn the masters and start manufacturing / packaging. When it gets close to that time, it doesn't matter if you find a bug while you are testing or not, 19 times out of 20 unless it is is something that causes a fatal freeze they will just let it go and say "SHIP IT!".
