What do you think of when you picture Australia in your head?
What personality type would you attach to an Australian?

I just want to know, because I see all of these American TV shows, and they're... Odd.

I love stereotypes, If used in a friendly manner and not taken over the top, they can actually bind people of different ethnicities together and laugh about their culture, what's good and what's bad e.t.c.

The Kangaroo thing has happened to me too. He also thought I went hunting with a Didgeridoo. I think he meant Boomerang.
I'm not sure what these Americans are being taught about us in school, but I'm worried

Australian kids are being taught sh*te all about their own history. Why do you expect Americans to be taught anything about Australia?

Honestly, all we were ever taught is that it was a British prison. Not in depth or anything, maybe just 2 sentences in 9th grade world studies class.

Every Ausie I've ever met seems very proud to be Australian.

When I was in the Navy it was considered to be the best port call ever. Your women love us and the men love to watch us try to finish a pub crawl. Lots of free drinks and vomiting involved. Best to try and act cool and duck away into the head.

Not completely true, but only a small percentage actually learn about our true history. I can remember from a few years back learning about everything that happened since 1788, although I suppose that was Australian history class heh.

I guess it could vary from state-to-state (not having a national syllabus and all), but the teachers I know are instructed to generally avoid white Australian history.
