It caused by GIMS. Move the mesh directly(not the dummy)...you can move vertices only to get the result.

2 benox50:
Can you make a video? Or send me the model with textures? I can't understand what's wrong exactly.

I found out that you can move the yellow dots (I don't know what it's called. I call them "nodes") and the position of the weapon will change.

Well, the problem is troubleshooting for the correct position for the weapon. I would have fix the node's position, go to GTA IV, use clip capture, open the video editor, and go into free view in the video editor to see if my weapon is in place.

Is there an easier way to align the weapon without going in and out of GTA IV?

Oh, I've forgot about the hierarchy...align the weapon mesh pivot to the first hierarchy node(usually with model name), set the mesh as a child of it and move node only

But I would have to still go in and out of GTA IV to see if my weapon is aligned correctly. This is very tedious. How do I align my weapon without going in and out of GTA IV?

No way. Import the original model and align by it(check main hierarchy node positions to be the same).

I did some troubleshooting.

Turns out, either 3DS Max or GIMS is causing the problem.

How I found out:

1) Import the default w_m4.odr using GIMS.

2) Immediately export the weapon without changing ANYTHING.

3) Went into GTA IV and the gun was misaligned.

This means that there has been something happened in either the exporting or importing process. BUT, it could be OpenIV's fault too. I do not know.

If it's GIMS fault, I hope it gets fixed soon.

Can anyone tell me what's going on?

I know that it's GIMS bug, and it's already fixed in dev build. Wait for update.

No, it's WEB INSTALLER or MANUAL INSTALLED VERSION, but you'll need OpenIV 0.9.3 dev build(which doesn't exist now)

@3Doomer, just started using GIMS, and I've got to say, seriously impressive stuff!

I do have a quick question about model compatibility.

I have tried exporting .wdr files (playerped) from open IV and then importing the .odr output into 3DS Max using GIMS. I can then export any modifications with no problem.

However, if I try the same thing with a .wdd file (i.e. component peds), I can import to 3DS Max using GIMS fine, but when I try to export, I always get the following error message:

QUOTE

=====Scene check=====
ERROR::Can't find bone properties in "dev_model/m_o_mpmobboss/*children" dummy!
ERROR::No model meshes found in "m_o_mpmobboss" file dummy. Can't export a model without geometry!
=====Scene check end=====
Model export failed!

Is it possible I'm doing something wrong, or is there no support for .wdd files yet? Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here, I'm relatively new to IV modding.

Read the thread.

After OpenIV 0.9.3

Do you have a release date for OpenIV? has Good-NTS told you anything?

Cause I've got videos to do and haven't put a release date to them due to OpenIV 0.9.3 and the new GIMS.

If you look at OpenIV roadmap you wont see WAD openFormats in 0.9.3 version.

@ quechus13

According to this link, Open IV 0.9.3 scheduled for release end of September.

3Doomer, I don't want to create more work for you, as you've already done a great job, but maybe it will help to edit the OP to contain information about the next planned update? Then you'd probably get fewer numpties like us asking this sort of thing biggrin.gif

What's OP?

I have a plan to the next release IN MY GTAMAPS SIGNATURE, but I can't do that here, because I can't find roll-up able BB codes as there...

OP = Original Post

Just a suggestion of course, entirely up to you. Thanks again for this tool. Going to have a lot of fun with it, even if I never make anything mods that impressive!

May be not enough RAM(yes,a lot of free, but MAX's gone very strange in 20xx versions).

I don't recommend to use GIMS with MAX 2008 - 2011.
9 SP1 and 2012're the most stable...in some cases.
