Hey all,I have a problem with map
When I tried to converting the map:I open map models,then afect pivot,and reset xform-reset selected(WHEN I DO XFORM OPERATION ,THE MODELS IN THE SCENE CHANGE ITS POSITION TO WRONG) What I have to do ,so models dont change position?PLEASE HELP ME

i had same problem one time.
you need to set pivot to the position you want and keep the pivot in the same position always.
after setting pivot position, resetxform and then convert to editable mesh before exporting.
(if you just resetxform and export it, it will export with xform modifier and you have to export in edtble mesh or edtble poly.)

EDIT: if you want the pivot to be in the middle of the object just go to HIERARCHY (right top)
and set pivot to the middle of the object.

What is up with the bump maps man they are to shinny I've been using same settings and the model looks like it's covered in vaseline. This is on Player head models and the entire peds model.

thats because the gta_ped shader uses spec also and it makes that effect.
if you want the ped not to bright so much just set lower spec properties, make spec texture darker.(spec=desaturated texture except the textures that have 2 or 3 specs by masks using colors.) or both of them.(up to you)

Why can't I use my old models in GIMS everytimeuser posted image I get this and the bones don't work. I really do not want to redo the entire model again I just want to update it with new setting.

Because the old openFormats syntax won't fit the latest one.
Don't store your work in opeFormats. You all've been warned many times.

Not as far as I know. I think that involves editing the .WFT files, which as of now can only be opened up using Zmodeler (albeit only vehicle files).

Well open iv has a hex reader and text reader I will look into that thanks man those are some pretty good leads to go by if I successfully make a midget ped I will be sure to inform you guys. Also, this is the most awesome modding community there is thanks for all the support guys I really wouldn't have been a good modder if it wasn't for you guys.

I have installed 3ds max 2012 (like what everyone says) and GIMS IV still doesn't work!
When i first installed 3ds max 2012, and did the web install of gims iv, it worked fine, but while importing a .wpl my computer froze, so i had to restart.
Now everytime i start 3ds max, it doesn't work. it tells me this everytime:

GIMS IV::File "02_Core.gmod" loading error!
-- Type error: Call needs function or class, got: undefined
GIMS IV::Loaded with errors.


I'm using 3ds max 2012 x64
I've tried running as admin to, but i can't import anything.
(running windows 7 home premium x64 also)

When i click start gims iv, it tells me this

-- No ""get"" function for undefined


then, when i try to import a .wpl with models, it tells me GIMS IV has encountered a problem.... CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS? I'd love to use this tool, but

I'm guessing it's the same thing as what i'm talking about... so i delete the GIMS_IV fodler in AppData/Roaming, put the web install in scripts, & let it download the newest version, but after that, it still tells me the same thing when i open 3ds max.

I tried just putting the web install into 3ds max scripts (without deleting the folder in appdata) but it doesn't give me the GUI error, and it's already up to date

I also tried putting manual install into 3ds max scirpts & appdata, i get seem to get it to work.... nothing to seems to help whatsthat.gif

EDIT:
Ok, i managed to get it to import a .wpl with models. But, it keeps freezing. How can i import the wpl with models without it freezing my entire computer? Also, how can i import Nods? when i click "get" in the nod editor it says unknown function

MAX always freezes while script's working.

In today's Evolutional battlefield news:

All of 480 GTA IV WPL files was successfully re - exported: import took 740 sec., export - 1100.
As it seems to be, there'll be a downloadable GTA IV/EFLC cache set for this framework after the release, for those who hate waiting for the load, and more optimization'll be made.

Also, HERE's the link to the text version of all WPL files content, for those who wants to find something interesting there, in case of an "Open Modding" concept.
