Bit of a shame, considering the high prices of metals nowadays to sink it. A Canadian ship nearby had claimed salvage rights to the ship, but in typical American fashion, they were trigger happy and sunk it before the Canadian ship could really do anything.

"Look over there! It's a boot ey. Let's take it apart, I hear those metal prices are high. Oh darn, the Americans blew it up. We called dibs and everything, what an outrage ey."

Just seen the flash that occurred on the horizon due to the tectonic plates colliding.

It looked more like something out of Cloverfield.

Or, more appropriately, Godzilla.....

just saw this makes me really wonder about the Americans! there was diesel on-board so instead of towing we decide it was a better idea to sink it and let the fuel disperse in the ocean

Which kind of Irish accent? Dublin or the west?

I would of docked it somewhere and made it a shrine.

LS Ped gonna get butt hurt over this bump then, but, this situation for Japan is not over by a long shot, nor should this thread as such.
My friend who LIVES in Japan commented back to me recently that a Harley Davidson from the Tsunami washed ashore in Canada recently, they apparently repaired or replaced this bike to it's rightful owner over-seas! Gotta love it, hope Trip Mills is reading, he's a biker dude

I posted a video on that story a little while back in The Video Topic, guess I should of bumped this topic instead since this would be the more suitable place for that vid.

Link to that story, and the video:

They turned on the power plants again, at least one, I was taping off TV the report today so as to put it on YouTube, but it didn't happen without protest, what the report failed to get into is the failsafes used last time, where all of them failed in the Tsunami, and power was routed from outside to get the plants in some operational state. We'll hopefully have more on this. What a long haul for Haiti and Japan to recover from these natural disasters!

Google street view has sent one of its cars around a tsunami and radiation ravaged Fukushima district. Follow the link, then follow the road to see the devastation.

Looks like that area's never going to be used again.

If you turn around from that position and head north for a mile or so, you can see some people at work. They have face masks on and are wearing rubber boots - they also have a change of footwear in the van. I don't know whether they are working on the road or testing radiation, or what the hell they're doing there - but with Japan being such a mountainous country, they'll be wanting to get such flat farmland producing again asap.
