Frankly, the shooting looks sh*t. Just tacky and boring, forced and unoriginal. The driving looks alright, but its the hand to hand system that has me interested. The game had better revolve around melee because if it does then I could have a fun time.

I'm betting my final opinion of this game will be "meh." I'm hoping it manages to be special and creative though.

I guess I should have said stiff or clunky instead, just couldn't think of the right word. As for unoriginal, I can't see the gun fighting being particularly new in the world of gaming. As I said, its the melee I've signed up for.

Yeah, I just think you're hoping for a bit much if you expect a game to re-define a game mechanic in order for it to be a good game. It's got a cover system involving tactical elements - I don't know what else you were hoping for.

I can't comment on the clunky feel because I haven't played the game.

I disagree with JB but that's no reason to jump on him and call him an idiot. It's his choice, no big deal. Why would that bother you if you're going to get the game and enjoy it anyway?

Personally I don't care if it doesn't have car customization because it has just about everything else.

I don't know, I've just got this feeling it won't be very good. Just look at the trailers, it just looks really clunky and slow. I'd be fine if it was smoother. Mafia 2, for all its many faults, had some pretty fine gun play. If it was like that it would be good but the character's movements and such just look faulty to me.

Some of you may not understand what I am trying to say by 'better' shooting mechanics...

Right, to explain this,
Play Grand Theft Auto IV and have some gunfights (auto aim off if you want)
Your character is pretty clunky and slow, and the gunfights are pretty... quiet...

Now download the demo of Spec Ops - The Line and do the gunfights in that.
The gunfights are alot more action packed, you have to be more tactical in the terms you can only carry two weapons (only one on Sleeping Dogs)
You'll have a moment like 'damn i dunno what to trade in, my UMP or my M4'... then you trade the UMP for a dropped rocket launcher and feel awesome with it on your back...
IV doesn't have these moments because you're carrying every weapon at once, and picking up ammo doesn't feel 'special' because you have another 5 weapons to use

They are also alot more action packed in the terms that bullets are flying everywhere, the movement is alot quicker (along with cover animations) which is always good in my books as it's alot more responsive.

Taking cover in IV was sh*t.
When you wanted to pop out of cover, it would
a. take a second and by then the enemy has moved
and b. You couldn't pop out of cover and aim, then quickly fire.


Seriously, download that demo, it's a good play.

The videos where Dan Sochan plays show off the gun mechanics properly (there were atleast 5-10 mins of pure shooting in one video)

Seriously many topic on these forums(and this one especially) aren't working properly. Forums are generally made for discussion, but how can you discuss anything regarding the game when the topic is full of PR managers (who made their accounts probably only to give this game free advertising) or fanboys of game which hadn't have it's premiere yet. You can't say anything against the game, because this bunch will jump on you and start insult you nor anything good, because you'll jump their bandwagon and instead of discussion we will have praising. This isn't cult or church guys, everybody is entitled to it's own opinion.

the ID is lazyboyeight, because when i got my PSN account back in around 07/08 (can't remember) i was 8 years old, so my id was lazyboy8, and for now most of my usernames are 'lazyboy8' or 'lazyboyeight' so every username is pretty much the same.
