i have no idea what thebestgameever and AceRay are smoking, maybe they are just defending gta iv's fighting system just because it's GTA. |
Maybe they just have a different opinion? I agree with them anyway. Hand to hand gets boring after a while. The only games where it doesn't seem to get repetitive are Batman Arkham Asylum/City.
Hurrikane especially will love this post, but GTA IV's hand to hand was fine IMO. Not spectactular, but I've seen much worse over the years. |
I keep thinking about the The Warriors in relation to SD's combat. The Warriors combat was fun and gorey just like this. | The Warriors combat, was by far, one of the best combat systems on any game i have experienced yet.

I only played True Crime: Streets of LA, and I know the map on that was HUGE, I think it took me 45 minutes to drive one side to the other. So this may not be that bad, though I think this game deserves a large area. I would like it at least close to GTA4 size, and not sh*tty Saints row 3 size. As long as the areas are nicely varied and look really nice and sunny in the day and neon at night with good driving areas to speed around it should be fine. I dont rely on any of the gameplay mechanics being any good, all I want this for is a nice asian atmosphere. Shooting already looks sh*t, driving could be not bad but cant be that great, fighting seems cool though abit jerky.
So who knows. I was hoping the map would be where it would make or break the game.
Hope they don't f*ck it up too much.
Just Cause 2 f*cked their shooting and driving but made up for it by miles for having such an awesome map and great exploring mechanics.
I hope this is the same, just without the grapple.

43 days left till we experience open world Hong Kong The official ESRB rating is in for Sleeping Dogs for those wondering. http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?C...eping%20dogs%205-10 minutes to get around map which is great and a huge map, again size of map should not be what we are looking in open world games all the time, they have stated that they things going on all over the place, such as jobs, events, cases, collectables, random events, races by land and sea, so i would rather have populated places, and a lot of secondary content in which we already know their is over 120 side missions and 20 hour story. http://www.push-start.co.uk/all/previews/i..._medium=twitterhttp://blog.asia.playstation.com/community...s-through-gamesI also found a green sign which i posted on the offiicial forums which indeed says "Ferry Terminal" so we will have the ferry in game imo, taking us to Central Financial from North Point as the sign was in NP. Sleeping Dogs playable at San Diego Comic Con July 12-15th http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive...n-schedule.aspx4 page article the game. Good Read http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1732...ckles_open_.phpDO NOT CLICK LINK if you dont want to know Acheivements of the game. http://exophase.com/game/sleeping-dogs-xbo...0/achievements/@MVC I respect your opinion, and glad you enjoyed the combat in IV, thats the main objective in games to enjoy and get away from the grind of the daily stuff we do!

Well, that video was showing few things I wasn't expecting:
Dodgy animations and screen tearing - I know there is still some time to premiere, but game should be in beta tests and polishing instead of development.
Bad driving physics - c'mon, it looks like it was taken straight from Driv3r/PL and these games got one of the worst bike driving physics ever.
Parts of city looks terribly disjointed from each other. We're leaving safehouse to see traditional chinese dances with nice number of people and a minute after we're driving on almost empty street with two cars and three pedestrians. What's more important city looks like it was built from 4 small islands. We're starting in one of them, drive to the highway and take one of the exits to another island. Space between them is filled with unexplorable buildings serving as backgrounds, which also create false image of giant metropolis.
I also like how developers are bragging in these clips. "We've got people who was working with NFS, so we will have best driving physics ever" "Some of our people were working at R*, EA, God knows where, so we'll deliver the best game." "We'll snort GTA like line of cocaine, because we made team built from the best people from many different teams." Spielberg's assistant doesn't have to know exactly how to direct great movie and guy who was doing coffee and blowjobs in EA doesn't have to know how to make great driving physics.
I tell them, show me something that will make my heart stop, eyes bleed and mind blow, because I am seeing empty promises from team, who want to make good game, but they simply don't have knowledge, resources or money to make it better. Some will say Square Enix will help them, they will deliver. I say time will tell. Even midget can score a point in basketball when Michael Jordan will help him, but you must admit. It's not the same...
