I have no luck standing on the rooftop hitting the Columbians w/ the sniper rifle 8ball gives you. Can you just charge the boat directly. I've tried this but so far I die everytime. I'm hoiping w/ alittle speed I can complete the mission that way but I don't know that the game will allow it?!? Anyone know?

Honestly, if you just charge the boat, you won't have too much luck and you will probably die pretty fast. Your best bet would be to use the sniper rifle, however, by the sounds of it, you need some practice.

I would suggest finding some high ground (i.e. the train tracks, but not in the path of the train) near an area with a reasonable density of people. Pull out a sniper rifle and start picking off people until you run out of ammo, get tired or get killed by the police. Once you're comfortable using the sniper with decent accuracy, go do the mission. At this point, it should be a lot easier.

Yes, you can charge ahead if you want to. You will most definately take at least a little damage from doing so, but it can be done.

IMO it's easy enough to run over to the crew trailers at the SW corner of the building, grab the pill there to slow time, then immediately sprint up the building's staircase at it's SE corner. With "bullet time" in effect, picking the dozen guards off with the sniper rifle is duck soup (and no damage taken). Be sure to zoom in and snipe them clockwise one-by-one starting from the two standing at the gangplank.

If you have a little time to spare afterward, drive the Cartel Cruiser up the gangplank to see a funny glitch after the ship has been sunk (the vehicle will remain suspended in mid-air).

Don't go all the way up on the roof. Just get to the top of the stairs and shoot from there.

And be sure to pick up the pill on the way.

Everybody's got a theory.

What I do is before starting the mission, I park a few tanks so that they block 8-ball from getting to the boat, he runs into them a few times which gives you more time. You can use the tank cheat for that, not sure what platform you're running and if you hate cheats, but anyways, you should then say screw the sniper rifle, and use a rocket launcher to slash the deck. 10 shots should be enough, always moving from left to right if you're standing on top of that building. Then use the sniper rifle scope to scan for anybody left over and cover 8-ball. At this point he should be starting to enter the boat or still running against the tanks (you can use yankees if you don't want to cheat). If he's still stuck go down and move one of the vehicles so he can run up the plank.

8 is 8-ball, X is you, bldng is the building you're standing on. Ignore the spoilers, they're just there because gtaforums doesn't recognize the spacing required to map this out. Just treat them as blank space.

i dont even get up on the tower i just shoot everyone(with the sniper rifle) i can then i go in to take out the last ones.

My first few tries of this i failed to, kill them in the right order and get practise because just chargng in is suicide

I literally finished this mission yesterday

The best things to do is practice with the sniper 1st, then just keep retrying the mission.

Some of the sniping is made easier by shooting the red barrels next to some of the cartell

But tbh I dunno why the hell 8-Ball starts heading in after the 1st shot anyway, what a tit!

It's pretty much implied that the ship is not empty (even tho no additional guards appear on-deck aside from the ones already up there)...so once the Columbians are alerted via the first shot, there isn't much time for him to plant the bomb and get away from a logical POV. He can't shoot a gun because of his hands...so there ya go.
