| QUOTE (Pedochu @ Jan 20 2011, 17:30) | | Once you play TBOGT, there's just nothing satisfying about the 9mm. It makes a weak *dink* sound and hardly looks intimidating, while the .44 tears through hordes of enemies and the deagle EXPLODES at every pull of the trigger. What was the point of the pool cue? The knife will always do it for me. Kick the lights out of a cab. Cabbie gets mad, takes a swing at you. You duck, press B, slit his throat and smack him to the ground. Easy. | The point of having the pool cue is bringing in diversity. and the finishing move you mention is also possible with the bat and cue. In TBOGT are so many new weapons available I hardly use a pistol and you got a good point...it's not indimidating compared to the new guns and explosives...still, noone of your enemies in GTA IV gets intimidated when you pull a gun, an peds who gets scared easily get scared by any gun... despite the sound, the Glock is still deadly... Well...for Gang Wars in TLAD and Drug Wars in TBOGT the Glock isn't too helpful since the enemies tend to have much more health than usual targets. Plus: in TLAD Johnny (and the multiplayer) shoots a lot slower with the Desert Eagle and Glock when riding bike. In Niko's story it's still the Glock for me, all the way.

Hmm good topic idea, I'll certainly add my own thoughts. Firstly, to address some earlier comments: I do enjoy the Grenade Launcher. I will always use it over the Rocket Launcher in the Ballad. You get 250% more reserve ammo, and the grenades will explode wherever you shoot, unlike the Rockets which seem to have a mind of their own and bounce off concrete. I much preferred the rocket launcher from the III era games So much fun destroying helicopters with the heat seeking one from San Andreas. I don't really like the Grenade Launcher in TLAD though, due to the long 7 seconds fuse time. And I do have "patience and skill" but it's really hard to use because anyone (humans and bots) will move out of the range of the grenade. The Glock is the weakest pistol, correct? Ugh, it's so annoying and pointless. I can get the point about it being more "cinematic", but everything else about it sucks. The sound, the accuracy (bullets fly everywhere), and the damage. As someone said before, once you play the DLCs, you can't stand to use it. I hate getting stuck with it in multiplayer. The Desert Eagle is my choice in GTA IV, and is a great gun all around (better in SA though). The Automatic Pistol in TLAD is cool too, I typically use it. It's great for drive bys. The .44 is an excellent weapon, and I love using it in combat. It's useful for shooting drivers in drive bys, but it can be hard to aim with. So, my overall favorite weapons: M4 - Great general combat weapon. The accuracy, damage and sound all fit together perfectly. I much prefer it over the wildly inaccurate M-249, although I do enjoy taking the M-249 sometimes and going "Terminator" by moving everything down. Auto Shotgun - Also a decent weapon. My favorite use for this is to take out cars (usually sets them on fire after 10 shells) and take down a big group of enemies, I usually don't use it for target-to-target combat. Still wish they had included a SPAS. Gold Uzi- Great for drive-bys and general combat. Sometimes the ammo can be a little hard to control, but nothing big, it's better to use than the regular Uzi. Sticky Bombs - I love using these things in BoGT. They are amazing for taking out vehicles chasing you in Drug Wars. And if you are in cover and throw one too close to you, you have the ability to abandon your place before you blow them up. Still wish they stuck to people though like in San Andreas . Least Favorite: Glock - See my above paragraph on this. All melee weapons- Why does the pool cue disappear from my inventory? And seriously, they are all weak weapons that basically just push the enemy around. I thought the melee combat was bad in VCS, but they just made it worse with this one!

Love:Beretta 1201 - high damage, fires quite fast, intimidating look M4 Carbine - High rate of fire, long range, good damage Bat - I like the old-school style of beating the enemy up Like: Glock 17 - 17 bullets are quite nice in an emergency SW MP-10 - the better SMG with a longer range (60 instead of 50) PSG-1 - good sniper, higher rate of fire, larger capacity, better zoom Meh:Desert Eagle - never really liked using it, and a capacity of only nine bullets is annoying Micro Uzi - accuracy is mediocre and bullet spread makes it less useful M40A1 - the inferior sniper RPG-7 - inaccurate grenade - meh... Dislike:Winchester 1300 - slowest rate of fire of all GTA IV guns I believe after the RPG AK-47 - it is always disappointing when I pick up this rifle instead of the M4 Carbine Molotov - I just never use it knife - unreliable where it stabs the enemy

First of all I would like to say, that I don't have any particular weapons that I like or dislike. A list below shows a big boys toys that I prefer to use, but that doesn't mean that I am not using weapons, that are not mentioned here. It's only a matter of a combat situation and my money budget. 1. GTA IV (Niko Bellic). a) Unarmed combat. Although I like firearms, but It's still more enjoyable for me, if I can beat my opponent to death instead of gunning him down, especially with a counter attacks.b) Knife. Weaker than a baseball bat, but your attack is faster, and speed can be critical in a melee/hand to hand combat.c) Combat pistol. Deals heavy damage.d) Combat shotgun. Great for close quarters combat, especially at interiors.e) SMG. I has lower rate of fire than a micro SMG, but it's more accurate. f) Carbine rifle. More expensive than assault rifle, but more accurate.g) RPG launcher. Annihilator? NOOSE van? A swarm of enemies? This will handle it.h) Combat sniper. It's just much better than regular sniper rifle.i) Grenade. It's fun to torch some people with a well thrown molotov, but for me, grenades are more practical to use.j) Car bomb. Finally, you don't have to go to a special garage to get one. You can carry one with you, so you can attach it to any car, anytime you want, and you can detonate it from a distance with your cell phone. An action movie's classic.2. GTA IV: The Lost and Damned (Johnny Klebitz). a) Automatic 9mm instead of desert eagle. A little brother of a micro SMG.b) Pipe bomb instead of grenade. A perfect solutions are often those, that are simple, and this homemade grenade is one of them.c) Assault shotgun instead of combat shotgun. Combat shotgun's big brother.3. GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (Luis Lopez). a) .44 instead of desert eagle. Lesser magazine capacity, but more damage. b) Auto shotgun with explosive shells instead of combat shotgun. It's high stopping power has saved my behind many times at six star wanted level.c) Gold SMG instead of SMG. It has very high rate of fire, that will take down an opponent almost instantly, with body armor or without.d) Advanced MG instead of carbine rifle. "Say Hello to my little friend".e) Advanced sniper instead of combat sniper. Quite good rate of fire and it's ammo is cheap.f) Grenade launcher instead of RPG launcher. It's cheaper and I already have that "special" shotgun for a demolition work.g) Sticky bomb instead of grenade. A remote explosive with a nasty habit to attach to almost any surface.h) Parachute. Obviously it's not a weapon at all, but I put it here, because it can also save your behind, for example, by granting you an alternative exit from a building that is surrounded by a police and you are low on health (as long as it has a roof access of course).Well, that's all folks. Hope you were not too bored by reading this . This post has been edited by Metzger on Monday, May 7 2012, 18:19
