UNDER CONSTRUCTION. IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS THEN PLEASE COMMENT HERE OR PM ME.The DYOM Weapons GuideAlrighty, time for another long tutorial. I'm sure all of you have asked this question before " What weapons should I use on this actor, taking in mind the difficulty/realism/fun of my mission". Look no further! Here is my opinion of what weapons of San Andreas should be used for different situations. Lets begin! Melee WeaponsThe weapons that you use in hand-to-hand combat. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Brass Knuckles | The Brass Knuckles are useful if you want to give the player a slight edge during brawls. Although it is only a slight advantage, giving the player Brass Knuckles in large fist fights can make it more competetive (espesially if enemies are equipped with melee weapons). | An actor with Brass Knuckles again gives it a slight advantage. This weapon is more likley to knock the player to the floor, making them defenceless to further attacks. | Overall, the Brass Knuckles are something very minor you can use to spice up fist fight missions. Although their advantage is slim. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Golf Club | The Golf Club is a weapon you would give the player if you want them to wipe the floor with melee opponents. It is pretty much the same as any other melee weapon, but it has a fast ground attack, making it easily kill downed opponents. | Giving a golf club to an actor is pretty much the same as giving them any other melee weapon. They don't really use it's power to full effect. | Overall, this is a good weapon, but it is not widley used. This may be due to the fact that a golf club during a gang bash or police shootout would seem unrealistic. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Nightstick/Baton | This weapons is a police stick, which means it would be very realistic to use it during police situations. It is pretty much the same as the Baseball Bat, just with slightly reduced power. | If your enemy/ally actors are with the Law Inforcement, make sure to give all those actors Nightsticks in Melee situations for added realism. | Overall, it is a fairly common weapon that you should use in most police melee situations. It's effectiveness is pretty much the same as all other melee weapons. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Knife | The Knife is most likley the best melee weapon for the player to use. It can be used in almost any situation; fights, stealth, brawls, battles. Anything you want! It has good power and downs opponents easily, where you can quickly finish them off. Some designers have build entire missions around the knifes stealth kill function. | If you give a knife to an enemy actor, be prepared for an annoyng fight. They will stab you into oblivion, due to the fact that many knife attacks cause the player to pause fighting for a second, opening them up to other attacks. If you want to really challenge players, make several knife-weilders during a fist fight for some added difficulty. | Overall, the knife is a nice and fun weapon to give to both actors and the player. Ideal for any situation, stealth killing is the star attraction of the knife, so make sure to use it. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Baseball Bat | The Baseball Bat is slow, but it makes up for this with excellent power. Not a good choice is the player is fighting a large amount of foes, due to its slow speed, but performs wonderfully in small fights. | Actors with baseball bats are tough ones, but their slow attack speed allows you to quickly get some good shots in and destroy them easily. Not a really good choice for if you are aiming for hard difficulty, but if you create 5 or 6 of them then they will swarm the player and take away their health easily. | A great weapon for brawls/street fights, the good ol' bat will get the player out of most melee situations. As for actors, enough of these guys attacking the player adds some nice difficulty. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Shovel | The shovel is a good weapon for sending someones front teeth into their back pocket. It is as slow as the baseball bat, but has a longer range, allowing you to hit more foes at once. Although weaker than the bat, it is good for taking on multiple melee enemies, so if the situation calls for it, give the player the shovel and let them knock some heads in . | Allys with the shovel will pretty much decimate enemies. Enemies with it are not as effective, unless you are near a group of allies, which will cause them to hit all of you at once. | Although a garden shovel is a strange type of weapon, it is best used in large street fights/brawls. It has decent power and can knock someone to the floor easily. It's long range is it's advantage. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Pool Cue | The Pool Cue has the longest range of all melee weapons. It is moderatly fast, but not very powerfull. It will still be very usefull against a large amount of enemies, as it's long range will hit many at once. | For realism, it is a good idea that if you are having a bar brawl, to equip an enemy with one of these. If you have multiple opponents then you should include some of these as allys to give you the edge. | A wonderful weapon overall due to it's unmatched ranged and good speed, the pool cue is a good weapon to use if you want the first strike. As said above, it is very good to use it in bars for added realism. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Katana | The Katana is a great weapon if the player is dealing with a huge amount of hostiles. You can take on and army of melee opponents with this and still have time to go home and watch the ball game. It can slice peoples heads clean off! And is best used on standing opponents, it is not very effective against grounded enemies. | Enemy actors equipped with this will tear your allies apart. This is due to the fact that they will lop your allies heads, so make sure that you don't put too many of these in a melee fight, otherwise you will get carved into sushi. | Overall, the Katana can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Take in mind its head-slicing ability and try to use this weapon in moderation, as it is very dangerous. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Chainsaw | Do you like gore? Then give this to the player so they can mincemeat other enemies. Once an enemy is on the floor they have no chance, sink it in and let the chains do the work. You can also run through a clump of enemies with this and shred them into pieces. A very fun weapon. | This is a very popular weapon to give to Zombiefied Peds, as it emulates a powerfull zombie attack/bite. This weapon is pretty unrealistic outside of this situation, unless you are making the mission about a serial killer. | This is a beserk weapon, and it's attack types and damage are unmatched. It is fast, accurate and deadly. It relieves enemies of their lives easier then any other weapon, so use if you have a huge melee situation and it calls for some firepower of a non firearm kind. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Dildo | Unless the player is taking on a horde of buddist monks, this weapon is useless. It has a weak attack and range and the player will be easily dominated by enemies. Despite this, it has a fast (and humorous) ground attack. | Giving a Dildo to an actor is as stupid as saying that Lady Gaga is a woman. It has no use and the actors are easily overcome by enemies/allys. | Unless you are looking to violate someone, the dildo is a useless weapon. It is weak, slow and pathetic. Besides, who takes on a gang of thugs with a monster purple dildo anyways? |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Vibrators | Although better then the dildo, vibrators are just as useless. The only difference is that two (the one on the left and the one on the right) have stabbing animations similar to the knife. This makes them more effective. The one in the middle however has a dildo like attack, and so is useless. | Just don't bother at all, unless you have a sex scene, to give an actor a vibrator as a weapon -.-'. | A crappy and useless weapon overall, the vibrator does have some entertaining value and is more powerful then the dildo, but it is still a useless and ineffective weapon. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Flowers | Flowers!? Of all the weapons that rockstar games could put in a game, they chose flowers!? Geez, unless the target has an allergy or something, this weapon is ineffective. However, strangley enough, if they are enough enemies with this near the player, they can be dangerous. | Despite being weak and useless overall, these can be dangerous in large groups. So if you want to give the player a weird challenge, then use some flowers to brighten their day up! . | An ineffective weapon because of it's weak power, it can be dangerous when used in large groups. Besides, the humiliation factor of being whacked in the face with a bouquet of flowers is worth the mission itself . |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Cane | The cane is a wooden stick, which makes the damage generally low. However, it is quite fast, similar to the katana, and is alright against 1 or 2 enemies. Don't try anything big with it though, as it does suck. | Because of it's fast speed, it can be dangerous for the player to have multiple enemies attacking him with this weapon. Is has an action similar to the katana, which opens up players to other attacks. | Generally undesireable overall, it can be used as an effective weapon if there are enough of them in a fight. But it's not very realistic to have a gang-banger armed with a cane. An old man? Now thats more like it. | Thrown WeaponsThese are weapons that can be thrown. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Grenades | These are great fun, just pull the pin and throw! But make sure they don't bounce back and blow your own legs off! Give them to the player if they are taking out clusters of enemies in cover. Grenades will prove very useful in destroying vehicles as well, so give the player a few to blow up some roadblocks. | An actor equiped with a greanade will be one dangerous fo. Watch out as they will throw them as far as they can to get the player, and will blow them into atoms. | Overall, the grenade is one of the best thrown weapons in the game. If you equip them to actors then be prepared for a fight. But if the player has them it will be easy to kill enmies. Have fun with these! |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Tear Gas | While a decent weapon in single player, the tear gas does not effect DYOM actors, and so it is useless. Although it does do damage and knocks down the player if they are hit by the grenade itself, which does damage and opens up the player to attacks. | Actors will throw it, but it does not affect the player or any actors around him. | Useless as a weapon, you can use it in cutscenes to make a smoke bomb I guess, but that's it's only use. | SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE This post has been edited by Chimpso on Friday, Jul 30 2010, 14:23

CONT.| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Molotovs | Molotovs are great weapons to use! They are great fun. Throw them in to a group of enemys and watch them run off like headless chickens. They are a great advantage to the player and they usually make things too easy. | Actors with Molotovs are more dangerous with ones with grenades. Molotovs explode on impact, meaning that the player has no warning. Be sure to place them in choke points that the player will go through so they can do maximum damage. | Overall, Molotovs are great weapons for defence. If your objective is to defend something, then make sure to give one of your allys some molotovs and put them up in a high place. It works wonders! |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Satchel Charges | While of no use to the player during combat, Satchel Charges can be used to lay traps for enemy actors or during cutscenes for an explosive-placing effect. Apart from that, they are of no real use to the player. | These are totally useless to actors. All they do is stick to the player, as the actor does not blow them up. | Overall, Satchels are pretty useless. Only the player can use them, as actors will only throw them and not blow them up. | FirearmsNow for the fun stuff. In most cases, the protagonist of your story will have three arms, left arm, right arm and firearm. These are musts in many missions. PistolsGood old pistols will get you out of pretty much any situation if you know how to use them. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Pistol | The pistol is the most basic weapon in GTA San Andreas. It is good for the player to use in pretty much any (except melee) situation. It can be a good weapon if you are only having a small gun battle or you are having a battle and you want to make it harder by giving the player a weaker weapon. | As with the player, you can give actors the pistol in any gun battle situation. Drive-bys, defence, ambush, attack, anything you want. It is a very useful weapon to actors and can be deadly, especially if accuracy is put to a high amount. | Overall, the pistol is one of the best weapons in the game. It combines good accuracy, speed, clip size and power to make a great weapon that you can use anytime anywhere. If a mission has a gun fight in it, make sure that you include a pistol. That is not a suggestion, but a must. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Silenced Pistol | The silenced pistol is best used in the hands of the player. It is a silent weapon, thish means the player can sneak into the enemy stronghold and pop some heads without other guards noticing. Use it, obviously, during stealth missions. | The silenced Pistol does slightly more damage then the normal variant, but fires slower. Since actors are not really "stealthy" there is no real point in giving an actor one of these. | A kick ass in stealth situations. Don't try to use this during a heated battle, as it will not stand the heat. This gun is "quality over quantity" meaning that it is best suited for stealth and fast strikes. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Desert Eagle | The Desert Eagle, better known as the Deagle, is a colosally powerful handgun. It can kill normal-healthed actors in one shot and actors with higher health will be decimated with a couple of rounds. It's main disadvantages are it's short effective range, bad accuracy, slow rate of fire and small clip size. This should be given the the player if they are in a battle with small amounts of enemies that are armed with good weapons. | Giving a Deagle to an enemy actor is not reccomended. Only give them to enemies if you set their accuracy to low, as one shot will usually send the player to the floor, where a few more shots will finish them off. | Overall, the Deagle is a powerhouse. It will completley destroy small groups of enemys or the player if in the hands of a skilled shooter or an actor with high accuracy. Try to moderate your use of this gun, as it can make things too easy, or too hard. |
Machine PistolsMachine Pistols are really just automatic pistols. They fire slightly weaker ammo, but have the advantage of being one-handed. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | TEC9 | The TEC9 is a pretty average weapon for the player to wield. It is pretty useful, with a good clip size, accuracy and rate of fire, but it is not the best. It is typically a "Gangster" weapon, and so using it during gang missions would add some nice realism. | The TEC9 is a fairly average weapon for the computer to use. They are pretty crappy with it however, and it seems to do less damage. If accuracy is high (75) they can be more effective, but only a little. | The TEC9 is a great weapon. If you are making a series of missions, this is an excellent choice at the beginning of the game. It is effective and has good power. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Micro SMG | The Micro SMG is basically a souped up version of the TEC9. It fires faster, but has a little less accuracy. You can use it for more power and stopping capability then the TEC9. This weapon is great for charging into groups of enemies, but for defence, it's counterpart, the TEC9, fares better. | This is the perfect weapon if you want an actor to be on the move and blasting away at enemies. Actors use this weapon well, so try to keep the accuracy low, lest you be pumped full of lead. | The Micro SMG is better then the TEC9 overall, and is more suited for attack then defence. It is a great on-the-go weapon, by which I mean running and shooting at the same time. | SMGAlthough it is in the same category as the Micro SMG and TEC9, it is an entirely different weapon. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | SMG | The SMG is the in-between of Machine Pistols and Assault Rifles. It has moderate range, good power and good accuracy. This is a great weapon to use for close-quarters fighting, as it is more effective when fired at a target a short range away. | The computer are generally sloppy with this weapon. If accuracy is on high however, they can be dangerous. This is a primary weapon for SWAT members, so use it if you have a SWAT gun battle. | A nice little piece of hardware, as said above, this gun fills the power balance between Machine Pistols and Assault Rifles. A nice weapon for close to medium combat, it's long range accuracy is not so good. | Assault RiflesNow for the big guns... | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | AK47 | The AK47 is an awsome weapon for the player to wield. It has a decent rate of fire and good power. It's accuracy and range are also very good, meaning that it can blast holes in enemys from long distances. Best used in large gun battles. | The AK47 is one of the more common weapons for actors. You should really only give it to them if it is a large battle. Give them good accuracy (75) to make things more challenging for the player. | Overall, this is a great Assault Rifle. It has great power, speed and range, which make it a good weapon for large scale fights. It is also well suited for defence. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | M16 | The M16 is the weapon you would give the player if you want them to have a huge amount of firepower on the battlefield. It is best used in heavy combat/army situations and is very accurate. | Giving this gun to actors is not reccomended, as they know how to use it. Make sure to lower accuracies so things are not too hard for the player. | Overall, this is a powerfull and dangerous weapon. Watch out for enemies with this, but if you have a chance to use it, then aim for headshots. As I said above, it is best used in army situations. | ShotgunsUse shotguns in close quarters combat, or big battles. You are guarenteed to decimate anyone within a meter of the shot. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Pump Action Shotgun | The most basic shotgun, this thing can let loose rapid rounds of shotgun pellets to shred foes into meat. It is best used in close quarters and interior fighting. As well as that, you can also give it to players during big battles. | Actors with this weapon are pretty dangerous, especially if they have high accuracy. The main disadvantage actors have with is it's short range, so they tend to run right into the enemy lines to shoot their target. | A powerful weapon overall, it combines decent accuracy with a good rate of fire. Best used in close-quarters and large scale battles taking place in a small area, you can use the shotgun to shred your way to victory. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Sawn-off Shotgun | The good ol' Sawn-off is a poweful weapon, but not a good choice for the player due to the fact that it only holds two rounds until a rather long reload. It is suited for close combat, but more for actors. | Much like with the shotgun, actors tend to run straight into the enemy lines when equipped with this weapon. However, they are very deadly. Try to keep the numbers of these in a mission low and the accuracy lower. | Overall, the Sawn-off is a decent weapon. It's main disadvantage is it's small clip size, but it's advantage is the ability to move while firing with it. Try to moderate it's use, especially in close combat. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Combat Shotgun | When you're all alone against a horde of enemies equipped with kick-ass guns and suicidal accuracy, who you gonna call? The Combat Shotgun! Having a semi-automatic 7 round clip and enoumous power, this weapon is more then a kick in the ass to enemies, it's an entire foot full. This gun is guarenteed to shred/dice/dismember (or whatever) enemies and is a great addition to the player arsenal. | Actors with this gun are dangerous, but tend to run right into the player before attaking. As a result, it is best to take enemies with this gun out at a distance, or if you want to make it a challenge for the player, put some near choke points. | A crazy weapon, this gun is suited for large scale battles and ambushes due to it's great power. It is best used in the hands of a skilled player, as actors are not so effective with it. | RiflesFeel like popping some heads at long range? Use these! | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Rifle | A good old fasioned bolt action rifle, like the one you see in cowboy movies. It has great power and accuracy, but a crappy fire speed. It should only really be used by the player if they are a cowboy, farmer ect. It is not that good at sniping, as the Sniper Rifle is better. | You can use this on an actor if they are a redneck/hillbilly/hobo/farmer/cowboy as it adds some sweet realism. Apart from that, it can also be used as a less lethal alternative to the Sniper Rifle. | A sluggish weapon overall. The Rifle does fill it's keep by dishing out some incredible power. This is a "quality over quantity" gun, and should be used as such. Try to aim for headshots. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Sniper Rifle | Able to 1 hit kill normal enemies, the Sniper Rifle is, obviously, best suited for sniping. You are able to adjust the scope zoom and pop some tops from a long distance. A true masterpiece in the hands of the player, it is bolt action - which means slow fire rate, but it's power and range make up for this. | Actors with this weapon are very dangerous, especially if they have good accuracy. They are able to waste the player in a few good shots, so make sure you moderate their use if you have to use them. | The perfect sniping weapon, this rifle is best suited for when you need to make meny kills at long range, and fast. Be carefull when giving it's awsome powers to actors, as they know how to use it. | This post has been edited by Chimpso on Friday, Jul 30 2010, 10:39

Heavy WeaponsAnyone with an IQ above room tempreture knows that the name of these weapons does not come from their weight, but their heavy destruction! | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Flamethrower | You can most likley guess what this does, it shoots flames! It's great for barbequeing enemies and vehicles until they are just right, which means dead. Be careful to not incinerate your allies with it though, especially if you need to keep them alive. | If you are gonna put some of these in a mission, only put 1 or 2. These will waste the player easily and his allies easier. Only give it during big battles or in times where you can avoid them. | Overall, this weapon is more dangerous in the hands of actors then the player. Actors know how to use it, and so are very crazy with it. The player is less effective, due to the fact that you move slower with it, and can't fire while in cover. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Minigun | 'Till the day I die, I will most likley never know where the "Mini" in this gun's name came from. This weapon has the fastest fire rate in the game and will kill a normal healthed actor in one shot, a vehicle in about 6, and an actor/car with 2500 health in about 15. This is not a good choice for the player, as it makes things way too easy. | Actors with this gun are without a doubt the most deadly in the game. If accuracy is low and the range is long, they will most likley miss. But if accuracy is high, the player is history. You can place minigunners to "Block Off" the players entey to certain areas. You can also put minigunners on the back of vehicles to shoot the player. | Be very carefull with this gun. It is the most powerful weapon in the game and will transform a battlefield into a graveyard in a metter of seconds. Don't give this to the player, as it makes things too easy for them. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Rocket Launcher | The Rocket Launcher, also known as the RPG is an amazingly destructive weapon that will level anything hat can be destroyed. It fires an explosive that can destroy large amounts of enemies/vehicles at once. It is also great for shooting down heliopters. | With actors, the Rocket Launcher is the only weapon that it less effective if it has high accuracy. If the accuracy is on 100, it will head straight towards the player and is easy to dodge. If it's accuracy is lower it will have an unpredicted flight pattern and be harder to get around. You can also give this to actors to shoot down helicopters. | Overall, this is a destructive and powerful weapon. It is best used against vehicles, but can also be used against actors. Be careful with this weapon though, or you'll be decorating the street with your intestines. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Heat-Seeking Rocket Launcher | Nothing new here, just a normal rocket launcher. Oh wait, I forgot to mention th part where it locks onto and follows vehicles! This weapon is very usefull, but in a normal combat situation, it's better to just use the normal Rocket Launcher. You should only give this to the player if they need to shoot down a helicopter. | Actors with this weapon are deadly if the player is in a vehicle, or worse, in a helicopter. They will lock onto the players vehicle and annoyingly follow them around until the warhead detonates. Don't put too many of these in a mission, as it becomes too hard to pass it. | This weapon is only usefull against vehicles. When used against squishy targets (such as actors) it functions like the rocket launcher. Putting too many of these in a misison makes things too hard for many players. | Misc. WeaponsThese are random and sometimes useless pieces of equiptment that the player can use. | Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Spray Can | The spray can has only one real use to the player, an ineffective weapon. Although you can use it if the player is cornered and needs to delay enemies to escape. | Actors with this are pretty dangerous. They will choke the player, opening them up to other attacks. On rare occasions, they may choke the player until death. | Although a pretty useless item overall, this can turn into a deadly weapon when in the hands of a foe who likes to smother his enemies with green spray paint. |
| Image | Name | Player | Actors | Overall |
|---|
 | Camera | The camera is a useless weapon, all it does is take pictures, it does not do any damage. | As with the player, actors will not use the camera, it CAN however be used as a substitute for binoculars in cutscenes. | This weapon is useless outside of cinematics. Although it can be used as "Binoculars" by the player. | This post has been edited by Chimpso on Saturday, Jul 31 2010, 11:56

Interesting thing about the smoke grenades, actors actually throw them AT you, and if they hit you it will sometimes do damage and knock you down. While you are on the ground, they continue to throw them at you, and can hit you just like if you were standing up, and deal more damage. Plus, if there are other actors that have guns, they will shoot at you while you are on the ground. I have been killed in a mission I made because of this.

I also discoverd that when experimenting with them, but I did not think it was noteworthy enough to inclued. I will add it aittle later (using a laptop now, and laptops suck!) | QUOTE (Levindski) | | Also, one of the vibrators you showed in the image (the one on the left) is actually a dildo. |
Wrong, it is a vibrator. It is the only vibrator you can get during normal SA gameplay. This post has been edited by Chimpso on Wednesday, Jul 28 2010, 07:56
