Hello everyone,
My name's AznKei, and I'm a DYOM reviewer. I created this topic so I can rate some of the DYOM missions that the DYOM community have made. I'll give you a full detailed review about some random missions I played and add some feedback for improvements. I'll also accept review requests, just pm me or write down your requests at this topic, and I'll take a look of your DYOM missions.
For those who aren't very familiar with my rating system. I will explain how it works:
"Writing" is focused with the mission dialogues and instructions quality. The rating depends the structure of your writings and how easy we can understand them. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---> Decent ---> Good ---> Very Good ---> Excellent.
"Presentation" is focused on visual and storyline quality. The rating depends how accurate the camera in your cutscenes are and if you put things that surprise the player like the explosions, the stunts, etc. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---> Decent ---> Good ---> Very Good ---> Excellent.
"Length" is focused on the time the player spends on the mission. The rating depends how long the mission lasts. The rating goes like this: Too short (1- min) ---> Short (2 to 3 mins) ---> Decent (4 mins) ---> Good (5 to 6 mins) ---> Very Good (7 to 9 mins) ---> Excellent (10 to 14 mins) <--- Long (15 to 20 mins) <--- Very Long (21+ mins).
"Difficulty" is focused on... well, the difficulty on the mission. The rating depends how hard the mission can be for an average player perspective and how accessible it is for the mainstream players. The rating goes like this: Very Easy ---> Easy ---> Medium <--- Hard <--- Very Hard! <--- Too Hard!!.
"Variety" is focused about the amount of contents that can be found in the mission. The rating depends how many different actors, weapons, objects, vehicles and pickups can be found in the specific mission. From the lowest to the highest ratings, it goes like this: Could be better ---> Decent ---> Good ---> Very Good ---> Excellent.
At the end, I'll make a short summary about the mission I just played and give some feedbacks the DYOM user needed in order to improve his future missions. I'll also give you the DYOM link for those who really wants to give the mission a shot.

Ok, the first DYOM mission that I'm going to review is: Weapons Free Zone by Dstrickt. The link of this mission is: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=5628. Here's my thoughts about this mission: - Writing: Very Good. The instructions and the dialogues are comprehensive in general. There's some typing mistakes that can be found in this mission though. - Presentation: Very Good. The camera angle for different cutscenes are well accurate. I like the way about how the intro is executed with different animations. - Length: Excellent as it can be done in 10 minutes. The player takes the role of a military rookie who, alongside with his comrades, fight against the terrorists at a mountain and a small town. - Difficulty: Hard. The whole mission is pretty much standard difficulty until the last fight where the player must kill the enemy very fast, otherwise he will be killed fast too. - Variety: Excellent. I like the number of different models that are represented for the civilians, the military and the terrorists. There's a lot of weapons to use too such as the assault rifle, the rocket launchers, the machine guns, etc. Very good amount of vehicles that are used as defences during the gunfights. Overall the mission is very interesting and enjoyable to play . It's quite a user-friendly mission although the last fight was a little bit overkill in terms of difficulty. I see that Dstrickt put a lot of effort on this mission and I must say that I was impressed of the overall results. Keep up the good work .

Hello everyone, Today I'm going to review a DYOM mission that's called Left 4 Dead by Richy, because the DYOM file is actually very popular and I would like to know what it's all about. The link of this mission is: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=5118. Here's my thoughts about this mission: - Writing: Excellent. There isn't a lot of dialogues or instructions on this mission but they're accurately well written. It's very clear of what the player must do in this mission. - Presentation: Very Good. There isn't a lot of cutscenes on this mission but the camera angle for each cutscene are positioned accurately. Nice foggy weather effects to add the eerie atmosphere. - Length: Good, as it can be done in 5 minutes. The player takes the role of a girl and with her allies must kill all the zombies around the ruined warehouse in San Fierro with their powerful weapons. - Difficulty: Easy. There's a whole lot of zombies but most of them carry only chainsaws. You can kill them easily by attacking away from them. - Variety: Decent amount of actor models, weapons and pickups. All the zombies look the same and almost all of them carry chainsaws, while the player and her allies carry armed weapons. Overall the mission is very fun to play, especially if the player likes the horror theme and enjoys killing a mass amount of enemies on screen . The author did a very good job to design a mission like this one, although it isn't very hard to actually design this mission. Anyways, good work .

Welcome back, Today, I'm going to review a DYOM mission series called The Ballad of Tommy Vercetti ( TBOTV) by Platinum Card due of his review request. The link of the mission pack is: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=6052. Do not forget to rename it as a .rar extension in order to extract all the missions because the file doesn't have any extension. Anyways, here's my thoughts about this mission series: - Writing: Excellent, they're generally written perfectly. Nice coloring texts. - Presentation: Excellent, nice viewing angle between cutscenes. Nice route points for the actors driving a car and for the walking and running animations. The storyline is very detailed because of the larger amount of cutscenes and it happens in Las Venturas. The Balled Of Tommy Vercetti...Intro:- Length: Decent, it can be done in 4 minutes. The player plays as Louis and he works for Tommy Vercetti. Tommy wants Louis to beat up some guys in a warehouse in order to force them working for him. - Difficulty: Medium, most enemies and the player carry a non-armed weapon. But there's one enemy carrying a desert eagle gun. Be careful and take him out by using your surroundings as your advantage. - Variety: Good, there's a good number of different actor models carrying a good number of non-armed weapons like the knife, baseball bat and so on. The Ballad of Tommy Vercetti...The Snitch:- Length: Decent, it can be done in 4 minutes. Tommy Vercetti and his new guest Johnny Pax want the player Louis to kill the enemies in Clowns Pocket Casino. The whole mission consists of a gun fight. - Difficulty: Very hard! By the time the player starts to move around, the enemies equipped with mostly desert eagles put him already in near death state because of their excellent accuracy. Better run away from them really fast before shooting back. - Variety: Good, there's a good number of different actor models carrying a good number of armed weapons like a chromegun, desert eagle and micro-uzi. The Ballad Of Tommy Vercetti...Straight Tony:- Length: Good, it can be done in 6 minutes. Another Tommy's friend, Straight Tony, wants the player Louis to kill an unpaying customer inside The Coma Dome. Things aren't that easy because of some armed backups from him. - Difficulty: Very hard! The player is equipped a chromegun, a powerful but with a slower reload time. The enemies carry desert eagles, silenced pistols and micro-uzs. All of those weapons have a much faster reload time and besides this, the enemies have excellent accuracies, killing you very quick. The player better kills them when they're outside of their shooting sights. After this, the player goes outside the dome and do some drive-by shooting against the main enemy and his allies inside a car while at the same time being followed by cops. - Variety: Very good, there's a lot of different actor models carrying with a lot of different weapons such as a molotow cocktail, micro-uzi, dildo, pistol and so on. The Ballad of Tommy Vercetti...Snow Storm:- Length: Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. The player Louis, Tommy and his 2 allies are going to kill some enemies in a small town near Las Venturas in order to steal their spank (drug) truck. The cops would notice the protagonist actions and they will chase you. - Difficulty: Medium. While the enemies have excellent firing accuracies, the same can be said to your allies, in which balance the whole mission perfectly. The player will have to escape from the cops while driving a spank truck. - Variety: Good amount of different actor models and weapons. There's only 2 vehicles in this mission and both of them are a necessity to pass the mission. The Ballad Of Tommy Vercetti...Johnny Paxx:- Length: Decent, as it can be done in 4 minutes. The player Louis has been tasked by Johnny Paxx to bring a prostitute at the Las Venturas Airport to his house. - Difficulty: Easy. The whole mission consists of road travelling. No gunfights or anything lethal involved. - Variety: Decent amount of different actor models. There's no weapons since there aren't any gunfights and the player only use one car to carry the prostitute. Overall, they're very good missions . The difficulty of the 2nd and 3rd missions can be over the top for some people who is looking for a smooth difficulty, as the missions are pretty much at hardcore level. I like the detailed presentation and writing which are synonym of good quality. The length and variety are at standard level like the official missions. Great job for designing these missions and keep up the good work.

Another review time, Today, I'm going to review a mission called Beat down Vagos gang by PitreqGangsta. I chose to review this mission because it was actually my first mission I tried when I discovered DYOM a few months ago. The link of this mission is: http://dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=1235. Here's my thoughts about this mission: - Writing: Excellent, they're generally written perfectly even though there isn't a lot of texts. - Presentation: Good. Although, the cutscenes are almost non-existent in this mission, the actors, pickups and objects positions are very interesting. - Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 8 minutes. The player as an hispanic avenger must kill all the armed Vagos gang members in Las Colinas, Los Santos. - Difficulty: Very Hard! The enemies carry very powerful weapons, have excellent accuracies and are positioned to their advantage. Observation, technical skill and memorization are the key to succeed this mission. Otherwise you will get killed easily. - Variety: Very Good. We have all the Vagos gang members with some other actors with a great number of weapons at their disposal. This is very good designed mission made by PitreqGangsta . The difficulty can turn off some average players who's looking for something smoother, but it can be a very interesting mission for people who wanted to improve their shooting skills and observation and looked for a more realistic mission. Kudos for the author to make this mission .

Hi everyone, Today I'm going to review the 2 part missions that Mattatatta made. The 2 part missions is called Countdown To The Apocalypse. You can get the download link for those missions from the "Falling Angels" topic made by Mattatatta at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=441754. Now into the reviews: - Writing: Excellent! Pretty much everything is well written. Some missions require the player to read carefully the instructions to avoid making mistakes. Nice text coloring to make the dialogues and instructions easier to read. - Presentation: Excellent! Nice viewing angle between different cutscenes. Very strong storyline to keep the players motivated to know what's happen next. Clever use of objects that plays a major role of your missions gameplay. Countdown To The Apocalypse: Part One:- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 12 minutes. The player as Zulu and his allies must kill a terrorist organization called S.S.U. (Sons of the Soviet Union). Their hideout is at Area 69, a military base. Expect, the enemies to be very armed. - Difficulty: Hard. The enemies carry many powerful weapons in the game such as the Rocket Launcher and the minigun. They also have a very strong accuracy, so the player must proceed his actions with caution. - Variety: Excellent, there's a lot of enemies models carrying different types of weapons and a lot of vehicles that brings the mission a better atmosphere. The player is initially equipped with a sniper, a M4 and satchel charges. Countdown To The Apocalypse: Part Two:- Length: Excellent, as it can be done in 12 minutes. The player as Zulu must fight against the S.S.U. inside and outside the Area 69 military base. - Difficulty: Very Hard! Like in part one, the enemies carry powerful weapons with very strong accuracies. And the fact that a good part of the mission happens in a enclosed area with a time limit. The player has to act very quick and precise which can stress an average player. - Variety: Excellent, there's a lot of enemies models carrying different types of weapons and a lot of objects and aircrafts that brings the mission a better atmosphere. The player is initially equipped with a sniper and a M4. Overall those mission are well done . One of the main issue is that the difficulty can be a very over the top, especially part 2 and some players might find it more of a chore than enjoyable to get through. Another issue is the stability of these missions. While it's true that these missions pushed the DYOM into his limit, sometimes, putting more stuff is less. Tone them down a little bit. Otherwise, those missions are impressive and the author must keep the good work.

I'm back!!! ^_^ Today, I'm going to review the 2 missions that Tug66666 made recently. These missions are part of the Running Some Errands storyline series. You can get the download link for those missions from the "Running Some Errands" topic made by Tug66666 at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=450555. Let's start the review: - Writing: Very Good. The dialogues are written in gangster style which fit perfectly to the characters of the storyline series. The instructions are crystal clear and straight foward. - Presentation: Excellent. There's a lot of cutscenes in each of the 2 missions that helps you to be familiar to the surroundings and to locate some items such as the healthpack. The viewing angle for each different cutscenes are great. Running Some Errands:- Length: Long, as it can be done in 18 minutes. You play as an Ballas member and A.Mac. , the person who gives you the mission, wants you to kill the Grove Street Families members around Eastern Los Santos with your Ballas allies. There's a lot of gunfight and road travelling in this mission. - Difficulty: Medium. While there's a lot of enemies, their weapons aren't really powerful and their accuracies are mostly average. Still, the player must watch his back carefully because of the length. - Variety: Good. We have all the different Grove Street members, Ballas members, and some drug dealers actor models with light armed weapons such as the pistol and SMGs. There's one car at the beginning of the mission while the others can be stolen from NPCs civilians. Running Some Errands Day 2:- Length: Long, as it can be done in 20 minutes. You play as an Ballas member and A.Mac. , the person who gives you the mission, wants you to kill the Varios Aztecas members around Eastern Los Santos with Ryder, a former Grove Street member who just turned at the Ballas side. There's a lot of melee fighting and road travelling in this mission. - Difficulty: Hard. While there's a lot of enemies, all of them carry melee weapons such as the knife and the baseball bat. Still, the player must watch his back carefully because of the length. While the mission do look like a normal difficulty mission, the length and the repetitiveness of the melee fighting makes it tedious for the average player. - Variety: Good. We have all the different Varios Aztecas members, Ballas members, and some drug dealers actor models with a few different melee weapons. There's a motorbike at the player disposal at the beginning and you can hijack the cars from civilians. Overall, I like these mission a lot . I liked the idea of making a more deeper gameplay by finding the item locations. On my view, I liked the first mission more than the second one, because the gunfighting style of gameplay had more surprises and was more clever then the brawling style gameplay which drags out a little bit of repetitiveness after a while. Otherwise, these are very cool missions. And I hope that the author keeps up the good work. This post has been edited by AznKei on Tuesday, Jul 6 2010, 05:55

Hello everyone, Today, I'm going to review 2 of the missions that [TRM]AlexisLUIGI13 made. They're part of the Gangster Life storyline series. You can get the download link for those missions from the "Gangster Life" topic made by AlexisLUIGI13 at: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=452220. - Writing: Decent. There's a quite amounts of typing mistakes. Fortunetaly, they're easier to understand what the storyline is all about. It needs a little bit more improvements here. - Presentation: Good. The camera angle for each different cutscenes all well accurate. The actor models are quite static there. A little bit more animations could help to improve the presentation. Gangster Life part 3:- Length: Good, as it can be done in 6 minutes. The players as Tom must kill some of the gangster enemies at the construction site in Las Venturas while at the same time escape the cops because their crime involvement there. - Difficulty: Medium. The enemies carry some powerful weapons with they can be killed easily with your weapon inventory, especially in a wide open area like the construction site. The escape from the cops can be challenging because of the distance and the vehicle health which the player uses. - Variety: Very good amount of actor models and weapons found in this mission such as the assualt rifles and desert eagles. Gangster Life part 4:- Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 7 minutes. The player can play as both Tom and a newcomer as Eric who assists in the protagonist's side. There's some brawlfighting, some gunfighting and boss fighting at the casino castle in this mission. - Difficulty: Medium, the brawl part is quite simple. Fight down the enemies with your allies assisting you. The accuracies of the enemies are quite average, other than the enemy boss which carries a dangerous weapon. - Variety: Very good amount of actor models and weapons found in this mission such as the sub machine-guns and desert eagles. Overall your missions are good . They're pretty much the same size than the GTA San Andreas official missions in terms of variety, length and difficulty. That's a good thing as they're quite user-friendly for the mainstream players. The writing and presentation needs a little more improvement, otherwise everything is well done. Keep up the good work .

Hi everyone, Today I'm going to review the 2 missions that Hetment made. The 2 missions are called A Long Way To Fall.. and Max Payne.. You can get the download link on each of these 2 missions made by Hetment at: http://www.dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=1358http://www.dyom.gtagames.nl/?act=show&id=990Now into the reviews: - Writing: Good. There's some typing mistakes that I found in this mission, however they're easier to understand despite this. Nice use of coloring texts in order to facilitate the readings. - Presentation: Excellent! Nice viewing angle between different cutscenes. Quite a strong storyline to keep the players motivated to know what's happen next. Some cutscenes are very cool to watch like the ending of the A Long Way To Fall.. mission. A Long Way To Fall..:- Length: Very Good. It can be done in 8 minutes. The player must kill his main enemy called Teddy and his minions at the tall building Los Santos. Expect a lot of gunfights. - Difficulty: Medium. The enemies carry some powerful weapons such as the shotguns and the assault rifles. Their accuracies are in medium level and healthpacks are quite abundant so that the player won't die easily. - Variety: Very Good. I like the different choice of the actors and weapons chosen. They're mostly gang members actors such as the Italian Mafia and the Vagos. Max Payne.:- Length: Very Good, as it can be done in 7 minutes. The player plays the role as Max Payne in which the series was also made by Rockstar. Max must fight his enemies inside an empty parking lot full of enemies in a foggy weather condition. Expect a lot of gunfights. - Difficulty: Medium. The enemies carry some powerful weapons such as the desert eagle and the assault rifles. The fighting area is large enough for the player to avoid the enemies fire without too much difficulties. - Variety: Good amount of actors models such as the Russian mafia and the Italian mafia members. The actor model of Max Payne is a little bit different than his original counterpart at he looks a little bit older with his hat and all. Overall these missions are very good . I liked the A Long Way To Fall.. mission more because the ending cutscene made the whole mission experience satisfying There's some few minor bugs that I found, like the many spawned Teddy actor models, which should be only one actor model according to the storyline. Otherwise, good job and keep up the good work.
