I don't think they're that far off the mark in regards to how people would react in this scenario. Except for a few choice moments, like falling into a f*cking stress coma.
There was a BBC series in the 70's called Survivors. It was somewhat hastily remade recently. Anyhow, the original series was loooong winded and had a lot of long stretches without much external conflict - but the character dynamics were f*cking fantastic. I do wish The Walking Dead could take a page or two in this regard.

And why do I have a feeling they're just keeping T-Bone around because they don't want to kill off the only black guy in the group? They don't seem to care about his character. Like they don't know what to do with him. He doesn't get almost any screen time at all, almost no lines. But he's around because killing off a black guy is such a cliche, right? Then f*ckin' do something with him.
I just can't understand how THIS is one of your big complaints about this show. You seem to be upset by the most minor of issues. If you can call them issues.

You're not seeing the bigger picture. It's not a minor issue. It says a lot about their writing capabilities. They don't know what to do with a character that's been in the show for so long.
In comparison, look at how The Wire, The Sopranos or LOST managed to handle so many characters at once, giving them all enough depth and interesting personalities. Even the minor ones. T-Bone has none. And he's not the only one unfortunately.
The large chunk of characters are there for no reason except to eventually get eaten by zombies. But if writers don't devote time to these characters, how are we gonna care if zombies eat them? Shouldn't they try to make us care about these people and to be sad or angry when bad things happen to them? Instead, most people want to see them dead. Rick, Daryl and Shane are the only characters with actual personalities. And now Shane is dead, so that leaves only 2 interesting characters.

That's exactly what keeps the show alive.
Some people are still watching the show hoping to see Lori dead. She and perhaps Carl. Why? Just because she has been a dumb-ass bitch that didn't know how to take care of a little kid. She was always: "Hey, Andrea, can you take care of Carl for a minute for me?", and then she was gone, forgetting about her kid. So, he always found a way to get through unnoticed and look for trouble. 90% of the fans want them dead. They are still watching the show waiting for the day they will see Lori and Carl in a walker form.
T-Dog hasn't been noticed so much until now and he's not so relevant, that's true, but the did nothing wrong to the group - except for cutting his arm in that car at the first season. I don't see why they would kill him, and why they wouldn't. They are not holding him in the show just because he's black; if he's irrelevant, he will be killed. Simple as that.
Just don't forget about Michonne. She will become one of the most important characters in the third season, because she's different from all of them and she knows how to deal with the walkers. Season 3 will be amazing. Wait for it.

Lost? You site Lost as an example on how to handle background characters? The Walking Dead has only aired 19 episodes. Go watch the first season of Lost, and look at all those background characters who served no purpose. Does Arzt ring a bell? What happened to those characters? They all died without saying a word several seasons in. And then they introduced new characters who served no purpose until they finally were killed.
But I guess giving this one guy on another show a few lines a season is the wrong way to go. You think he should just be an extra until he finally kicks the bucket.

I'm probably going to have to see if the library carries the graphic novel. I'm now hooked on it, and they ended the season! DAMN. When they recapped the first episode, it just has me on pins and needles to see what happened following that one, but they ended the recap at the cliff hanger, which is a shame. I've lost interest in Hell on Wheels, the other cable series I'd been catching up on, compared to this one! haha
Good side is no rap music in this 'new' world.... Joking of course.... or am I?
I was at MC today, saw two books on The Walking Dead, the Chronicles book which I think is the best one, covers a lot of behind the scenes, making of, and the Compendium I believe it is, looks like basically the complete Graphic Novel, can anyone validate?

Compendium is Volumes 1-8. I myself have that, then Volume 9-15. I plan on getting 1-8 separately just for collection purposes and it's easier to read them that way.

It is hard to read in such a small book, But I can't get the same satisfaction from seeing it played out live, movie or TV set, it's just so much better in my opin, Def good casting I think
It almost feels predestined that this is going to lead to Rick losing his hand. Unless, of course, they cheap out on us.
Anyone read the most recent issue? That last image of Rick was something special. It's almost like, while Kirkman's including all these weird parallels (Jesus' and Randall's capture, Carl being the judge of character, a mysterious group of others) - he's really trying to emphasize how far Mr. Grimes has gone down the rabbit hole.

Unfortunately I don't have access to season one on DVD, but if only the library rented it out! That would kick arse. They do rent some DVDs I believe, if you're lucky in that regard. I used to check albums and video tapes out of our local library years gone by.
There's already enough spoilers if you missed a few episodes
