What's the model of the Mercedes wagon? I quite like it because it looks brutal.

Which one? The R class in the previous post or the CLS Shooting brake that we argued about?

I'm guessing he's asking about the CLS, the R looks anything but brutal.

Yes, the shooting brake.

Some time ago I went far with researching those 'shooting brakes'. The design is far from perfect, like the Ferrari FF which I don't like simply because of the brand, but oh god, how they appeal to me. I wish all station wagons/estates were looking like this, or had a shooting brake version in a facelift.

Time for me to contribute to this hate filled topic:

2000 Audi TT
user posted image

While I think all of the Audis interiors are too small and cramped, not to mention their heavy understeer, I have to say that I respect this car company. It has done a lot in terms of engineering and their cars are reliable. And also cheaper than other german competitors. But that's probably because it's owned by VW.

What I think about the Audi TT of the year 2000 is that it looks very bland. And look at those headlights, the car looks sad!

This must be the only car which looks bad even with the autobra/car condom..

The newer TT definitely looks better on the front.

And yeah, the 2000's TT back isn't exciting at all, too. It looks like it's copied from the front to back.

They have no excuses for why the 1st gen TT looks like that. It's not even fast.

Again a car i have liked since it was announced. I find the TTs design to be great, because it doesn't really resemble any other car, and even of the front end isn't very interesting, the back looks fine to me. And the dashboard, now that i like. It looks sporty and well done. Altough the cars engines weren't the best i actually considered this as a car to buy... But then again, in some ways it's like the SLK, a bit of a girls car. And at my height, i wouldn't fit in it.

I would add this squareness to the thread. The Aston Martin Lagonda. This is a car that pretty much has no design. It's just as square as a car can be, i mean the V8 model looks great, how is this such a rubbish looking car?

Yes, the shooting brake.

Shooting brakes are three-door estates. The CLS has five doors and a sloping roofline, and is therefore technically just a very big hatchback.

But there are so many 5 door hatchbacks you can't complain anymore. It's the trend, mate.

It's much like BMW making the 6-series 4-door. It wasn't a family car before, but now it is.

He was stating that using the term "shooting-brake" was incorrect since it's a 4-door, you f*cking genius.

Well, it more or less looks like a squashed new beetle. In the same way the 356 and Karmann ghia were kind of squahsed (let's say prettied up and sleeker) versions of old beetles. Or Scirrocos and Corrados were to Golfs. All more or less the sporty counterpart to an otherwise ordinary car.

The 6-series is supposed to be for those that want a sports coupe or convertible, not a family sedan. WTF is BMW thinking?

I completely forgot about the Buick Rendezvous, until I got stuck in traffic behind one today. So much ugly all over it.

Why did they make those rear tail lights so big? Its out of proportion, it looks like a cartoon car from the rear and like an uglier version of a Santa Fe 05 from the front, which was already an ugly car.

Lagonda: I love it, it looks so different and wild that it appeals to me. Aston Martin pretty much always make beautiful cars (except when Zagato butcher them).

I rather like the 6 GrandCoupe. Apparently, it's actually a better drive than the two-door version, and judging by how the AC Schnitzer version looks (wheels aside) it suits slightly sportier bumpers well (though the wheels are awful)

user posted image

Much better proportioned than the current 3 and 5, IMO.

I agree with you here, the F40 is so attractive and to follow it up with this is upsetting. cry.gif

@sivispacem: That AC version is gorgeous (apart from AC wheels which I have never liked), that's how the current 5 series should look instead.
