Very good. This should put a stop to all of those topics of "I want to build a PC, but don't know how, but I can't afford to buy one..."

I've actually built all of my computers on carpet lol never had any negative issues but regardless ill keep that tip in mind. To new people adding thermal paste, use very very little. a small coat works great but too much can muck up your processor.

But don't you think that the CPU is really expensive suicidal.gif
unless you are RICH and if you r RICH why you build it your self?
just buy the ALIEN WARE AREA-51ALX and it Looks AWESOME

OR

You should use some parts that can give good performance and Quality
but not expensive like that turn.gif

Lovely tutorial, well done! icon14.gif cookie.gif
That´s one of the things I miss being on the Mac.
Buying all the independent components, screwing, wiring & tweaking.
Once You get it running the feeling is priceless.

It´s really the building and DIY which makes it so great. I never did think so much about the price though they always turned to be lot cheaper than pre-builts.

That was just a comparison to show how much money you can save by building your own computer. You can use different components.

Yeah, basically what he said. I also used high end PC's for the comparison because the price difference is more evident then compared to a cheep build.

Then you should name your topic as
"How To Build Your Own ALIEN WARE AREA-51ALX (I will not show you)"
and one thing you didn't mentioned how to build it you only mentioned which components it will take
and their work confused.gif

*facepalm*
you're completely missing the point.

the build he put up is an EXAMPLE, to show the price difference between a prebuilt and when you build the same system yourself.

There is a video, and if you get confused by those steps you really shouldn't be building your own computer as chances are you're just going to break something.

Actually, as long as you are grounded, you can build a PC anywhere! Its Just not recommended.
And about the Thermal Paste, yes a small amount. You can also create a pea sized dap in the middle of the CPU and then add the heatsink on.

As somebody who has never built his own computer before, I have a few small questions. The first is, is the graphics cards listed minimum power requirement an accurate indication of the psu needed for the computer? Or is it a good idea to go a little beyond the recommended level? The second question is regarding operating systems. As my computer is pretty low end and four years old, I have started researching what I should be looking for. One website distinguished a "64 bit system" from I think a "16 bit" operating system. I'm not entirely sure what the distinction is, since the article didn't go into too much detail. Is one better than another? What are the differences?

Go 64-bit. There's really no reason to stick to 32-bit (that's the other OS they were talking about) anymore as pretty much everything is moving to 64.

As for the PSU, go beyond it. The PSU is one of those things you don't want to skimp on (either brand or power). Get a good brand and overshoot the power by as much as your budget can handle.
