Chelsea will beat Villa, if Villa end up scoring first then they'll end up sitting back and then pay for it.

Hull City get another spanking lol.

And Arteta back on the score sheet. Dont know if you watched MOTD but how sh*t is Yakubu now? Dreadful.
Title challenge back on!

The Glazers have said that the club is NOT for sale, while the money is still coming into the club why would they? How much profit would they make if they sold for 1Billion? Anyone know the exact level of debt?

Shame Arteta never got his hattrick with the third goal being marked as an oggy. I missed MOTD so don't know how sh*t Yakubu was in that game, saw he missed a penalty though.

Didn't the Glazers buy United for around 900 million but borrowed around 600 million and the club is about 700 million of debt? Makes our debt look like pennies.

Yeah its a hell of a lot of money. Not to cash in and take 300M profit seems a little crazy, they must be very happy with the way things are going. If Man utd win the prem or not they still need some new players in the summer to keep the pressure on. Im not sure if the Glazers will be all for giving him the Ronaldo money back for the transfers. Could be wrong because they dont seem to want to sell...they must know something we dont!

United have only made money in one season under Glazer ownership, the season we sold Ronaldo for £80m upfront, and received a large advance on a shirt deal. Currently the debt stands at £500m in bonds, and ~£250m in PIKs (technically that's Glazer debt, but it's secure against the club), the PIKs are the ones which increase massively every year, 14.25% each July IIRC.

It`s £716.5m debt, the £500m bond issue is to pay off interest and take a chunk off the debt. When the Glazers had bought their final shares they got their money back by loading the debt onto the club. I remember there being a £1bn offer from China at the same time, but the Glazers had their hooks in.

I can`t see them selling, the bonds will be bought up by financial institutions and the debt will be more managable. I don`t fancy the Red Knightons

I'm not sure about your figures, but I know the bonds have already gone. Are you a match-goer?

Nice to see a new topic!

I went and watched city last Saturday against Boro. Won 1-0, but we didn't deserve the win in the second half. We played terrible, and let a very good goal in (offside thank God), but after that our defence tightened up, and it was a good show by Chris Burke and Ross McCormack. icon14.gif

Big loss for Liverpool last night, could be critical.
City have 2 games in hand and spurs 1 game in hand over Liverpool, even Everton could only be 4 points behind if they can win their game in hand. If City win their 2 games will put them 7 points clear...Not long to go now.

Ah, time to cash in on the 5 quid I bet on Liverpool not making the top 4 with my mate. wink.gif

Seriously though, it's a tough ask for them. At least United are in a great position; we're still to play Chelsea a second time, and if they manage to slip up against some lower opposition (which is possibly since now they're on the back-foot and behind us and would be feeling more pressure) and if we manage to collect a decent result against them in the return fixture, then hopefully we'll be smooth sailing. icon14.gif

Regarding the debt, I'm actually not worried. As long as United pull consistent results in the future, finishing, at minimum, 4th every season, then our debt will eventually be handled in that time. Besides, I don't see why United would finish lower than 4th anyway.

United winning the Carling Cup makes it so there's an extra spot for the Europa league via the league doesn't it? That's how f*cking bad it is looking.

No disrespect to Wigan but they are relegation fodder and we couldn't even get a shot on target.

The debt these clubs have like Liverpool and Man Utd can really only be paid with TV money and CL money. The more successful then the more TV money you will get from all comps. They reckon if you win the CL you will pick up 50M. These are what needs to be achieved. Man Utd are safe because they will be playing CL football next season. Liverpool now run the risk of no CL football, this could result in players like Torres and a few others having to be sold to service the debt that the CL would normally cover. This with the fact that if the players are sold then it breaches Rafa's contract and he will then have to be paid out...then take into consideration that Anfield is pretty much ran by Rafa and his staff including the youth teams. If Rafa goes then they will all follow and that will leave even more problems. Unless they get bought out in the Summer by some major Arab or similar, they could be in really serious problems. If the top players are sold to service the debt then they will never get back into the CL because City will just take their place.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/ja...rs-debt-ronaldo

Not been to one this season, but the 3 seasons before that I went to quite a few United and City games. My sister's BF is a matchday cop (surveillance cam) and season ticket holder, when he was on duty I got to go. I also bought a few tickets being a member of One Utd. My other sister is a mad City fan and her company (DHL) had a box at Eastlands so I`d pretend to be a customer and tag along.

I went to about 90% of home games between `79 - `86, the Sexton-Atkinson-Ferguson era. I stood in the same spot in the Stretford End for the first half of nearly every game - behind the fence over the tunnel in the left hand corner - at HT everyone from our school would meet up on the `12th step` behind the right hand post. My username on RedCafe.net is LeftSideTunnel.

Ouch.

I didn't get a chance to see the game, but when I rushed into a cafe and grabbed a glimpse of that 4-0, later five, I was awestruck.

Porto brought a 2-1 lead to London then got destroyed.

I think it's worth to mention that the last 24 games or so that porto has taken the lead at home, they never gotten kicked out the next leg, until now.
