I think so, new manager for Barca is an unknown variable though, could come off like pep, could fail. I think real will nick it again by 3 pts, I would say it depends on the classco results but last year proved that theory to be a load of donkey bollocks. barca need to be more clinical and adventurous going forward, this pass pass is all very nice but when a team defends (like chelsea in the CL) the lack of plan B becomes apparent and they just try plan A recycled, i think teams have figured them out, won't stop them winning most their games but could stop them on important ones. But maybe Tito has a plan B to whe the unsotppable force meets an immovable object, we shall see.

Quite frankly I'm a little afraid that Barca might lose to Real this year too. Vilanova just doesn't seem to be strong enough to attack with Barca the Cup / Championship / Champions League all together. But f*ck it! Villa is back, and that means nothing but awesomeness! Plus, I heard the got Song too from Arsenal.

Knowing that Arsenal has also sold Van Persie, does anybody believe in their chances to win anything from the Championship / Cup / Champions League?

Alex Song joins Barcelona after a €19 million transfer,it´s done.

"The player is scheduled to fly to Barcelona on Monday morning at 9:30 and will pose for the cameras in front of his new club. Then, at about 10:00, he will undergo the first medical check-up at the city's Barcelona Hospital, followed by a second to be carried out at Barça's sports centre, named after the club's founder, Joan Gamper.

The player will sign his new contract at approximately 17:00 hours on the same day, after which he will once again be on show outside the club's offices, this time accompanied by FC Barcelona's president, Sandro Rosell. At around 21:10, he will be presented to the rest of the squad in front of the fans just prior to the start of the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will be played against Sampdoria. On Tuesday, at midday, he will give his first official press conference as a Barcelona player."

I still think Barca are the stronger and better team, I class them as favourites. Am I right in thinking Real haven't even bought a single player this summer? They've sold a few though. Whereas Barca have Jordi Alba, and Song on the way plus David Villa returning from injury. That's practically 3 new signings, good ones too. Barca weren't bad last season, they were good, they picked up 91 points. It's just that Real Madrid were exceptional and picked up 100, and I don't think they'll be able to repeat that again this season.

Edit: Oh yh good point, I forgot about that Waddy. Still, I think Barca will come back stronger this season. and I'm not sure Real will be quite as strong as last season.

Do you people not realise that Tito Vilanova was Guardiola's tactical assistant? he's been credited with alot of the success. I think he will do well, he's a strong character and he's fresh. Alex Song & Jordi Alba are two very strong signings that add even more depth to Barca icon14.gif Barca usually come back extremely strong after a disappointing season so I would expect a good showing.

If he can overcome Mourinho in the Spanish Supercopa then I say it's game on. David Villa being injured removed any chance of success last season as he's their only true striker and without him they look flat even when Messi works his magic dropping deeper (Messi deep, Villa in the mid upfront was the key to the 5-0 El Clasico), Alba gives more depth and he's like a Dani Alves going forward... Barcelona have never had a player who's great going forward in this area. Alex Song offers Busquets a break and allows the midfield to rotate even better to keep things fresh.

QUOTE
Modric will be a Real Player.
Nuri Sahin was looking incredible before he went to Madrid. He didn't impress off the go and got himself injured which led to the end of his career. It's very possible Modric will not make it at Madrid and I can assure you now he will absolutely not be a starter. Modric is almost unproven, he has alot of work to do if he's to convince Mourinho he's worthy of starting in the center.

If Madrid go all out for the CL I can see them losing La Liga. Madrid are a fantastic team but they don't handle multiple comps very well.

Anyway Liverpool have United, City, Arsenal... they could end up with 0 points 4 weeks into the season lol. I can't believe people are falling for this Rodgers bollocks.. "Rodgers system this, Rodgers system that" the guy is a hack job and he will almost certainly be away from Liverpool soon enough. I'm glad Michael Laudrup got off to an amazing start at Swansea! the guy is a genius.

Dempsey refusing to play but Fulham smashing anyway is another thing i'm happy with. Good for them.

Embarrassing result today, enough said.

Well done to Fulham and Swansea though, I got a feeling this season is going to be full of surprises, just hope Liverpool manage to surprise everyone by beating the big boys in the coming weeks.

Can Arsenal field 11 players at the moment?

Opta.

QUOTE
Marouane Fellaini was  second in the league with 84 tackles, and won the ball 190 times in midfield, by far the most in the top flight.

Beats the living sh*t out of Song whos just gone for 15m?

QUOTE
The most revealing feature of this chart is Fellaini’s clear dominance and superiority in and around the tackle area. He is quite simply prolific, winning almost nine out of every 10 attempts, a ratio no-one can touch. In fact, his nearest challenger, Gareth Barry, is 15% less efficient in that department, itself a striking margin. Similarly in ground 50-50s, although Parker and Barry scarcely eclipse his success rate of 52%, Fellaini’s skill in this area is similarly powerful, victorious in 151 of these contests.

Predictably, Fellaini also posts impressive numbers in the air, winning double as many clashes as any of the others on this list, and at a far higher success rate. Interestingly, even with 5 less starts than Tiote, Fellaini is also the hardest man on this list for opponents to dribble past. This season, that has happened on just 21 occasions, whereas Alex Song has been turned, and left for dead 36 times.

For me not, imo the Real is still a step above Barcelona. Real Madrid is a perfect machine, this is the third season for Mou in Madrid and I can´t see to this team doing it worse than last year...and last season Real was really close to the perfection in some matches.

Barcelona´s performance is a mystery to me. These teams,Real,Barcelona,United,City..... have 18 international players that can be titulars in 90% of the rest of the teams.
Imo, what makes the difference in a long season is how a coach manages his team, I mean, f*cking psychology.
If Mou or Ferguson are so big is just because they are the exceptionals in the managing egos of players who are young, rich, crazy and of the best in that they do. Tito Vilanova is a bad joke compared with the special one.

Imo Barcelona´s season will be worse than last year, maybe they can win the Champions, but La Liga has a very very white colour.
Anyways, we will have a idea about this as soon as the next thursday with the first game of the spanish supercup(yeah, Real against Barcelona) .

By the moment, Barcelona fans should remember this. cool.gif

Well yeah I agree that Vilanova is not the kind of coach that has the skill of Sir Alex Ferguson. He's not as old, and he could be creative. How Guardiola taught Barcelona tiki-taka, maybe he'll come up with something new. Compare him with Borrusia Dortmund's coach, Jürgen Klopp.
But yeah, I also agree that the Super Cup will show us who has more power and who might win La Liga this season. I personally trust in Barcelona, I know they can win it, they just got out of luck last season, especially with Villa's injury.

Chairman Mao must be well pleased with his Fulham boys.

Yh me too 4 Bagger, I've missed Motd and FLS. Is it just me or do refs seem to be giving penalties more generously? Speaking of which, Shane Long needs to build the muscles on his leg a bit I think. My arthritic nan could have kicked it harder.

Yeah, there has been a fair few given today, and some were rather lenient.

They've been playing the Johan Cruyff way since the 90s. Guardiola taught them hardcore work ethic and patience. Vilanova is Guardiola's tactical advisor, he was pretty much involved in almost all decisions good or bad. I see no reason why he can't step up to the plate and deliver. It's the same situation with Karanka.. when Mou finally leaves Madrid he will step up and continue.
