This reboot is going to be the best thing that happened to Spider-man on the silver screen. Just ask the skeptics who watched exclusive footages at Comic Con 2011. Cleared their doubts and pessimism almost completely.

Yeah. The same people who were raving about Terra Nova.

Sorry. Never watched that so I don't know what you could be suggesting.

Ah. That the crowds at Comic-Con are so glad to sit in a room and escape the wafting clouds of BO and social angst that anything looks good to them. ;p

I'm being facetious of course, but Terra Nova got a lot of great reviews at the Con and turned out to be absolute horse sh*t. So take the praise for Spidey with a grain of salt. wink.gif

I take everything with a grain of salt.

And Terra Nova was complete garbage. Did the editors even see one of their episodes before they aired them? The effects were god awful.

I was so pumped for that show, watched the secpnd and third episode and got over it. The pilot episode was pretty good.

I am smack dab in the middle of season 3 of The Wire and very much loving myself for picking this show back up. I've seen season 1 three times by showing it to friends, but I didn't like season 2 and put it away for awhile. That was about a year ago. Now I'm all in and going to go right through to the end. What a bad ass f*cking show, you guys.

I must say I wasn't all that excited about the movie when it was announced or even after the first trailer but this second one has got me intrigued. Looks like it might have the potential to upstage the previous series. Will definitely have to see this one.

WHY WHY WHY

News reports it as a reboot, and I'd say that's about right, and there's really NO NEED as I see it

Convinced me as well, this and the dark knight rises are at the top of my list.

@ 1: 16 looks like they're remaking Good Hill Hunting as well.

It definitely puts all of Sam Raimi's Spiderman work to shame. What a waste, his efforts appear to have been in vain.

It definitely looks good. So glad that Andrew Garfield has the actual swagger for a funny Spiderman. Tobey Maguire was just horrible in that role.

Why does it matter? Series get reboots all the time in printed comics. Plus this looks damn good so far.

Yeah, after the first trailer I wasn't so excited about this. I was already confident in Andrew Garfield pulling off Peter/Spidey because of his performance in The Social Network, and I was already fine with them casting Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, etc. But I was more worried about what route they would take us in and everything else. Not to mention this is only Marc Webb's second directorial feature, with his first being 500 Days of Summer (a film I love). I was just doubtful that he could pull off a second film that I'd love.

While I'll have doubts until I see the finished product in theaters, this latest trailer put my mind at ease a bit. The scene towards the end with Spider-Man and The Lizard fighting on top of the Bank of America Tower in Midtown was more epic than anything that happened in the Raimi trilogy (though I still love me some Spider-Man 2).

The Amazing Spider-Man plus The Dark Knight Rises in the same month makes me a happy camper.

Sam Reimi's Spiderman series didn't follow the comics. They were written weirdly and the Peter Parker who was so gay under the influence of the symbiote) was to me at least nothing like the one in comics. Tobey Maguire just doesn't fit as Spiderman. Sure, the series can be fun to watch but it is to me at least not connected to the comics, I mean Flint Marco (Sandman) suddenly turns out to be uncle Ben's killer? While watching the trailers for this movie you can see it follows the comics. Spiderman has his web shooters ( unlike the Sam Reimi series where he could shoot web from his hands?!) ,there is a story behind Peter's parents (in Reimi's series we couldn't even acknowledge why did Peter live with his uncle and aunt!)... I think if this reboot turns out as well as I expect it Sam Reimi's series will be forgoten like the original Batman series (especially Batman Forever and Batman & Robin wow.gif )

I still have a soft spot for Spidey 1 & 2. I may not know much about the comics, but those films are good in their own right.

Oh and Andrew seems a little try hard-y with the whole smart ass Spidey, but we'll see.

Hope this one lasts, looks promising. Especially since it will follow the comics.
