| QUOTE (Slamman @ Saturday, Apr 28 2012, 23:27) | | If it's audio you want to save from a CD ROM, I recommend a LaserDisc player, believe it, the original optical disc device still works best on CDs, even though LD was modified to handle 5 and 12 inch discs in 1986 | Seriously, what the f*ck has that got to do with the guys problem loading his GTA:IV disc... I mean since when did GTA:IV become available and usable on an extremely defunct medium such as Laser Disc.

| QUOTE (Craig @ Sunday, Apr 29 2012, 12:54) | I am looking into getting a tablet PC for writing on the move and (minimal) internet browsing. I say "minimal" because I don't want to be spending loads on a contract when I have a perfectly good iPhone for that. Something that I could just pick up, buy and then browse when there's a WiFi hotspot would be perfect. I know the prices for some tablets vary depending on this. I don't want masses of storage space, but I don't want something that can't hold much either. It'll be mostly storing documents though, so that's negotiable. I want something with a decent on-screen keyboard and has good office software available.
I have heard good things about the Asus Transformer but I know very little about the market, so I'd like a few opinions before I go hurtling into what is essentially an expensive purchase. I was considering a second hand iPad, but I'm just not sure. |
Really depends. If you want something that'll just be your iPhone with a bigger screen and without the phone, get an iPad. If you want something else, get an Android Tablet. Personally, I love the Toshiba Thrive with it's USB port. If you want something with more power with infinite software, get a Windows Tablet. Be that a convertible tablet like the HP tx series, or a standard tablet like the HP Slate. The advantage there is that you don't have to learn any new software. You have all the same UI, control, and software you have over a full windows PC. Now, my own question. Does anyone know where I can get a really cheap 8.9" 1024x600 touchscreen LCD that supports VGA or DVI? New or used doesn't matter, so long as it's cheap and it works.

The price range I'm looking at is about £200-£250, that's new or used. I don't know how realistic I'm being. All I can suggest is eBay or local selling sites. Over here in the UK, we have Gumtree. I don't know if that's originally a US thing and I'm just being terribly ignorant by assuming it's British, but there's bound to be similar sites. We also have a chain of stores here called CEX, which is essentially an electronics shop that buys and sells electronic goods. New stock comes in all the time, so it may be worth looking into those. Sorry I'm not much help.

As the first forum suggests, the BT only allows card info transfer, some minor data at the most, the USB is just not working other then to charge the phone, but I have an AC charger, and the m-USB is sold as a DATA CABLE, and that is how I wish to use it.
From the suggestions, need a link to the first application that might work, the second failed to produce a useable ZIP file, so I must try again, the Wifi I'm on is coming in uber-weak for some damn reason, I moved in the past month twice.
UPDATE, second attempt seemed to have captured the full 2.4MB but the bar ended before it filled, not a good sign normally. The first attempt was done over night since it was not making noticeable inroads on that visible loading bar
Will try connecting the phone after installing the driver, but the fact both are titled USB modem is not encouraging, as MODEM means it will try and make dial up phone calls on it! haha

the phone was given to me from my parents, it's for basic calls, so though it has Net features, they come at a cost, and of course, Verizon wants you buying all that, so I won't cater to that demand from them, but I have used the built in phone camera and it has built in memory reserves which are dedicated to photos (stored as black until filled, about 50 in all) and if you could use their cloud service without cost, I think you could upload photos from the phone to that, or send them attached to phone numbers
