Launch is on the 16th of August apparently and MSRP is $299 or £191.

Who would pay that much for a card to play games???

Yeah, it's better to get a xbox instead, though it would die after a year or two, so it's better to get 3 Xbox[es] instead to play games. icon14.gif

An a huge television to get the most out of it, of course. And then if you ever need to do anything like, I don't know, shop online or write a letter, you'll need a PC of some kind as well.

Its just pathetic that current consoles and the xbox from last gen die quick. Seriously. Ive got a NES and Super NES that work 100% no issues. Ive got a PS1 and PS2 that both still work. How are current consoles built so poorly? And i love the PS3, but seriously, the PS3 slim case looks generic and is built with s*it plastic. And you try to stand it up, and it looks plane out ugly.

Also just to say another, my dreamcast works great too. inlove.gif

With the Xbox it's widely believed to be caused by Microsoft using the wrong lead free solder. "A type that when exposed to elevated temperatures for extended periods of time becomes brittle and can develop hair-line cracks that are almost irreparable". I'm currently on my third Xbox which is an early 2010 slim.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems

I had a Dreamcast. Used to love playing Sonic, Rush 2049 and Jet Set Radio.

About spending loads on a PC, you have to remember it's not just for games.

Well how come motherboards for other systems are fine? They dont get hairline cracks.

Maybe they used the right solder after the lead free solder law was introduced. Anyway the PS3 gets too hot as well as my friends has YLOD.

Most motherboard might not, but the issue itself is pretty common in electronics. GeForce 8 series are the prime example.

I would love to know the specs of the next Xbox and I hope it has a BluRay player.

Someone actually paid $20,100? confused.gif

Also, Intel CPU? I thought both next-gen consoles will have AMD. Either ways anything with x86 architecture is good for me. tounge.gif

Intel is leading the CPU game pretty heavily right now, wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, but I heard some rumours about all consoles eventually with have AMD CPU/GPU. One of the rumours has it that the PS4 will have an AMD processor, as well as a HD 6670 I think.

Because AMD is cheap, consoles are cheap and crappy, next box might use AMD, but i think ps3 will use their own processor upgraded from the ps3sthat they spent hundreds of millions building factories for (figure might be less but they still spent a boatload on those darned spes).

Go look at benchmarks, Intel is better every single time even with lower clock speeds and use less power, AMD is kinda pathetic in comparison so hopefully new consoles have something Intel based that will last better for the next 10 years.

For gaming, sure. But the FX-series processors aren't really gaming processors- they're more like server ones with comparatively low per-core performance but very high multi-threading performance in bespoke applications (though not in much of the off-the-shelf stuff). They therefore tend to top equivalent Intel processors in heavily multi-threaded applications that don't utilise or favour Intel-specific instruction sets.

I think i have a virus that i cant get rid of. All of a sudden my homepage on Google chrome was switched to Babylon search and all of these random extensions have been installed that i don't remember approving. I have ran multiple virus scans and they find nothing. I think it may have came from when I downloaded Paint.net but i have no idea how to get rid of it.

Older systems didn't emit that much heat. Keep in mind that most new devices need some sort of cooling system such as fans which goes to show that they get hotter than older systems.

@gtamann123 You must have installed some software that came with all that stuff. Paste this into Chrome's address bar: chrome://chrome/extensions/
It will bring up the settings for extensions. Remove the ones that you don't want by clicking the bin icon to the right of each extension.

To remove any new unwanted search engines, paste this on the address bar: chrome://chrome/settings/
Find a button called Manage search engines... and press it. Then set your search engine back to Google or the one you originally had, if it was changed, and then find the one(s) that weren't there before and you don't want, and remove them.

I've been accumulating hand and power tools recently in preparation for some projects, the most recent being a jigsaw. So I figured I'd do a quick side project and make a window for my PC case.

And hoooly balls did I underestimate what a project it is. First off, finding the right saw blade was a pain. Once I got that down I thought I was on the home stretch. However, I have the Corsair H80 water cooler for my CPU which can't mount anywhere in my Antec 300 other than the side panel. So I needed to cut an opening for it and drill the holes. One cracked acrylic sheet later (after drilling all the holes and some starter holes to jigsaw out the open areas for the fan/radiator), I learned my lesson and ended up taking my time. I eventually drilled 4 mounting holes for the sheet itself (a paint to line up), 8 for the fans (that connect to the radiator), then 16 starer holes to open up for the jigsaw cutting. f*cking that was time consuming. Along with that, I had to carefully measure out the distances for all 28 holes.

It's late and my room is a mess so I don't have pictures, I'll see if I can get any up tomorrow. I rushed the jisaw cutting so it's a bit wonky, but fixable (at another time), but I still think it looks pretty darn nice. When I get the time I'll tidy up the interior of the PC and possibly spray it black and throw in a light or two.

tl;dr: Doing a window panel mod to your PC case is f*cking tough. I don't have pics yet, but I'll try to get some up asap.
