To Being a GTX 660 (leaked, hopefully the final product will not look like this)

That's not a leak, it's a horrible photoshop. Original imagesI'm sure the 660 will be smaller than that. Hell, even on the late model 670s the PCB barely stretched past the back of the PCI-E connector. What's sad is they could have easily gotten away with a single slot cooler. And I agree with LOEJ. Send it back and just sell the replacement one. |
Got an H60 in the end, I almost bought a Kuhler 620 but I don't like the heat-spreader design on them. And whilst I rather like the look of the Eisberg coolers, I really can't be f*cked to build it all with the air cooler, and then rebuild it with the water cooler when they are finally released. | H60 is a good cooler. I personally prefer the Corsair/CoolIT designs (H60, H80, H100) over the Antec/Asetek (620, 920) designs as they seem to have a higher build quality, and the Asetek mounting system sucks. I had an H60 for a about a week until it died and I had to RMA it. My only suggestion would be to get a second fan for it and do a push pull setup for better performance.

I'm thinking about getting a new laptop purely for work reasons, and I'd love to hear your input if you have any to offer. So we use some proprietary software at work that can't be installed on mac, and this is only reason i'm looking into getting a laptop with windows. So, my requirements are rather minimal. I'm just seeking a laptop that works reliably well. My intuition first directs me to an IBM Thinkpad. I don't even know why, but I have an overall good impression on them. I'm finding some around $300, refurbished, which doesn't seem too bad, does it? Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834246232I'd say it seems to fit my needs: 1) durable, travels well 2) fast enough to run a heavy program at decent speed (this is quite important actually. with my work i'm always working against the clock. so while I don't need anything super duper fast, I can't afford to see that hour glass icon too often). Thoughts?

Asus may finally reveal their ATX ROG Z77 motherboard at this years Computex. From the looks of it, there will be two models: standard and ThunderFX. Both are almost identical in terms of specifications, while ThunderFX model has additional features and can be used with consoles. Design of the board looks like Asus may bring back their Fustion Thermal system so users can run a water cooling setup found on previous selected ROG boards. update: Downloaded Windows 8 RP (release preview). Improved a lot than its previous releases. Much easier to use and I can finally close them damn apps instead of relying on task manager. It's shame the traditional start menu is gone, but after some use, I'm starting to get the hang of the MetroUI start menu. And Windows 8 has raised their WinSAT score to 9.9, while the highest score you can get for Windows 7 is 7.9 and 5.9 on Vista. update: Concept: Asus Zeus X79 socket 2011, with dual GPU! | QUOTE | ASUS has an enviable amount of engineering potential and resources. Often, the two come together, to create magical PC enthusiast hardware, such as its ROG MARS and ROG ARES series super high-end graphics cards. The next such creation is ZEUS, which is a shocking fusion between a socket LGA2011 motherboard, and a dual-GPU graphics card.
If there was one product that forced visitors' jaws to drop to the floor, it was ASUS ZEUS. A concept X79 motherboard, the ZEUS demonstrates ASUS' enormous engineering potential. It is a combination of a Sandy Bridge-E HEDT (LGA2011, X79 Express) motherboard and a dual-GPU graphics card occupying the expansion slot area. The processor, its VRM, all onboard devices, and two "high-grade PCI-Express 3.0" GPU subsystems occupy the same PCB. |
