I see it only now, and you're right.
If they'd just remove that, it'd be good and clean design icon14.gif

That's not a leak, it's a horrible photoshop. Original images

I'm sure the 660 will be smaller than that. Hell, even on the late model 670s the PCB barely stretched past the back of the PCI-E connector. What's sad is they could have easily gotten away with a single slot cooler.

Cheers to all of those who assisted in my hunt for a new, better PSU after my PCPC one popped a capacitor. I've also taken on board the advice of some members here and elected to replace my gargantuan air CPU cooler (which looked impressive but was never really that much good) with a far more attractive water one. Expect some pictures when I rebuild!

Glad to hear it. Have you thought about replacing the capacitor in the old PSU and keeping it for a spare on the off chance it didn't completely fry itself?

I've repaired a good number of LCD monitors by replacing blown capacitors in the internal power supplies, so there is a good chance that's all that's wrong with it.

I'm umming and ahhing about sending it back to OCZ, purely because it will cost me £14 in postage and they've offered to send me £100 worth of Silencer II 750 as a replacement.

I'd definitely take them up on that. Even if you don't want it as a spare you could always sell it.

Glad to hear. Hope the AX750 works well for you. What did you get for a water cooler?

And I agree with LOEJ. Send it back and just sell the replacement one.

Got an H60 in the end, I almost bought a Kuhler 620 but I don't like the heat-spreader design on them. And whilst I rather like the look of the Eisberg coolers, I really can't be f*cked to build it all with the air cooler, and then rebuild it with the water cooler when they are finally released.

H60 is a good cooler. I personally prefer the Corsair/CoolIT designs (H60, H80, H100) over the Antec/Asetek (620, 920) designs as they seem to have a higher build quality, and the Asetek mounting system sucks. I had an H60 for a about a week until it died and I had to RMA it. My only suggestion would be to get a second fan for it and do a push pull setup for better performance.

I've got a top-mounted 140mm brushless jobbie that I was using as an intake for my huge CPU cooler (well, actually I've got two of them but I'll probably only use one)- I was going to use the H60 fan as a rear-mounted intake and the 140 as an outlet, or possibly top-mount the radiator and do a 140mm pull/120mm push combo.

$89?
Damn that's cheap. Maybe next year 250GB will be the standard size for most users.

I doubt GTA V will add this to their game, looks a bit on the rubber side...

I could play around in that alpha all day. The body does look a bit jelly like but I think that's because it is slowed down. The video got me playing Rigs of Rods again smile.gif

I'm thinking about getting a new laptop purely for work reasons, and I'd love to hear your input if you have any to offer.

So we use some proprietary software at work that can't be installed on mac, and this is only reason i'm looking into getting a laptop with windows. So, my requirements are rather minimal. I'm just seeking a laptop that works reliably well.

My intuition first directs me to an IBM Thinkpad. I don't even know why, but I have an overall good impression on them. I'm finding some around $300, refurbished, which doesn't seem too bad, does it?

Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834246232

I'd say it seems to fit my needs:
1) durable, travels well
2) fast enough to run a heavy program at decent speed (this is quite important actually. with my work i'm always working against the clock. so while I don't need anything super duper fast, I can't afford to see that hour glass icon too often).

Thoughts?

Asus may finally reveal their ATX ROG Z77 motherboard at this years Computex. From the looks of it, there will be two models: standard and ThunderFX.
Both are almost identical in terms of specifications, while ThunderFX model has additional features and can be used with consoles.
Design of the board looks like Asus may bring back their Fustion Thermal system so users can run a water cooling setup found on previous selected ROG boards.

update:
Downloaded Windows 8 RP (release preview). Improved a lot than its previous releases. Much easier to use and I can finally close them damn apps instead of relying on task manager. It's shame the traditional start menu is gone, but after some use, I'm starting to get the hang of the MetroUI start menu. And Windows 8 has raised their WinSAT score to 9.9, while the highest score you can get for Windows 7 is 7.9 and 5.9 on Vista.

update:
Concept: Asus Zeus X79 socket 2011, with dual GPU!

QUOTE
ASUS has an enviable amount of engineering potential and resources. Often, the two come together, to create magical PC enthusiast hardware, such as its ROG MARS and ROG ARES series super high-end graphics cards. The next such creation is ZEUS, which is a shocking fusion between a socket LGA2011 motherboard, and a dual-GPU graphics card.

If there was one product that forced visitors' jaws to drop to the floor, it was ASUS ZEUS. A concept X79 motherboard, the ZEUS demonstrates ASUS' enormous engineering potential. It is a combination of a Sandy Bridge-E HEDT (LGA2011, X79 Express) motherboard and a dual-GPU graphics card occupying the expansion slot area. The processor, its VRM, all onboard devices, and two "high-grade PCI-Express 3.0" GPU subsystems occupy the same PCB.
