Intel has released their Panther Point chipset to the masses!
For those that have no idea what the heck what I'm talking about, it's their successor to the Intel 6 series chipset.
Intel Panther Point H77, Z75, and Z77 supports native USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0, and officially supports Ivy Bridge.

Speaking of Ivy Z77 boards and their PCI 3.0 slots. Do any current graphics cards max out the bandwidth of PCI 2.0?

Why do you care? You're still using DDR1.

The better question to ask is, does any of the cards fully saturate the bandwidth of a slot?

It won't matter about USB 3.0, dude, of course, I doubt you meant to make a connection there, just saying
The convention of USB 2 to 3 and same with PCI Express doesn't mean those revisions are at their max, but that they've invented a better mouse trap, and yeah, one could argue, USB 2.0 is old hat, long in the tooth
I'd like to see USB 3 making in roads as I had hoped Firewire 800 would, I can imagine it working really well, but don't see enough of the products or adaption methods in place. I plan to use my PC Express card (the innovative successor to PCMCIA) adapt to the USB 3.0 for my laptop.
If the latest GPU card is rated with PCIexpress 3 in mind, should be a good match. Keep in mind, they're still evolving and DDR4 and PCIe4 are also in the pipeline!

Was updating my Nvidia gpu drivers when I decided to look at the release notes. And in the document it says added
support for their new GTX 560 SE graphic cards. Currently it's GTX 560/Ti/Ti 448 Cores.

So the SE will likely be with the same relative clock speeds as the 560 (non-anything else) but with fewer cores. The memory might be 192bit compared to the 256bit of the others (320bit for the 448).

/edit
I was right on 2 counts but wrong on 1: http://www.techpowerup.com/163298/Sparkle-...phics-Card.html
Core Clock: 736Mhz the others are 810Mhz for the 560, 822mhz for the Ti and 732 for the 448
CUDA Cores: 288, compared to 336, 384 and 448
Memory: 192-bit, covered the comparison above.

The real odd ones are, according to this chart the 560 and 560 Ti (OEM) but I didn't include those in the comparisons.

With low memory interface, your gaming performance does take a hit, so I hope they keep edging them higher sooner then later! The Trickle Down in effect!

Keep in mind that with the GDDR5 interface the data rate is doubled compared to GDDR3. Therefore a 256-bit GDDR5 interface is the equivalent to a 512-bit GDDR3 interface of previous generations (GTX 200 series and earlier.) So in effect, the trickle-down effect is going along at quite a reasonable pace. Even with "only" a 192-bit interface, the SE version still has the equivalent to a 384-bit GDDR3 interface (in comparison, the GTX 260 had a 448-bit GDDR3 interface, 8800GT had a 256-bit GDDR3 interface.)

GDDR3 is still around of course, but I was not aware of that, thanks for adding that in! By trickle-down, I refer to buying somewhat older gen, and used, as examples of that, so the more are out on the market, or able to be produced and purchased, product prices should drop over shorter time intervals

GXT560 SE has been available in stores for a few weeks now. It's basically an overclocked GTX460 SE. In Poland it's priced between HD6790 and HD6850.

In the old days wasn't any SE designation a budget offering from the regular GPU card? (or am I thinking LE?)

Both are correct. I had an FX5700LE at one time. Weaker than a 5700 but on par with a 5500.

Windows 8 team has released the editions for Windows 8. It's back to the days of XP as there is no more starter, home basic, home premium, etc!
It's now Windows 8, Windows 8 Professional, and Windows 8 RT.
Windows 8 for home use.
Windows 8 Professional, has all the features of Windows 8, plus other features like Client Hyper-V, VHD boot, and EFS
Windows 8 RT (Run Time) is for devices running on ARM. It will come preinstalled therefore you won't get them as a stand alone product. It's the only edition out of the 3 to
include a free copy of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, OneNote). And has a feature call device encryption
All editions now supports multiple languages as users can switch to the language of their choice. This feature was previously only available in Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Enterprise/Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise/Ultimate.

No Ultimate version or Enterprise?? I figure they'll limit Win8, and not make it a single option for moving forward. a major part of that is the intent to keep it based for touchscreens and Metro being the main interface, the other standard Win being there but not altered to be the main Win8 screens
The portable version is said to be the first release to consumers?

Maybe the ARM one?
Anyway, you do have to pay for that Cloud version of Office. Essentials Live is a download package as I mentioned, if you need the normal extras that should allow everyone some sort of recourse (Movie Maker for example)

I don't see the need for multiple version of the same OS anyway. You don't get Ubuntu or OSX split into unnecessary versions with hardly any differences between them. Three is still excessive, cut it down to one Microsoft.

It was certainly tiered towards cost advantages for Microsoft, and Mike tells me the cost IS reflective in the man hours spent making the OS, but many people probably don't consider that, especially when the prices never seem to waver for MS OS compared to other options and competition.

Demography plays a part in selling to business versus consumer I believe, mentioned prior
