Smart thinking, really. Is it one of the older big .357s or one of the newer nice sized ones? It's hard to beleive how massive they used to be.

I took the m4 out to range yesterday and fired 20 match grade 5.56's down the range. It was only 110 meters, but it fired a good dime group with just the leupold I had on it, so I'm very happy.

More as it comes. cool.gif

Was glad to see this topic made. Not as glad to see it die. I guess it's to be expected in this particular demographic.

If you're in the right hardware store, and you're 18 years old, you can pick up a surplus Mosin Nagant for $69.99 plus tax. All you need is a license/photo ID and a reasonably clean record.

The forms you have to fill out to purchase a firearm are ridiculous, though. When I bought my .22 and 12ga, some of the questions were downright retarded.

Things like:

-Do you have any mental illnesses?
-Have you ever been convicted of stalking?
-Have you ever been convicted of domestic abuse?

It's not the questions themselves, but the idea that somewhere, some yahoo might check "yes" to any of these questions.

Then, there's always my favorite:

-Are you a fugitive from justice?

I wanted to be a smartass and write "When justice and law turn corrupt, what patriot is NOT a fugitive?", but I'd probably get arrested, and not get my boomstick.

And since I last posted in this topic, I picked up a Mossberg Maverick Model 88. It's an entry level shotgun, but it's goddamn fun. I'm going to get the barrel shortened, though. This thing is way too long.

Because 99% of the people who hurt other people don't get their weapons from Sports Authority? You don't get news headlines that say "Responsible gun owner shoots dime group at 25 yards". You get "Gangbanger kills four in horrific RPG accident".

I never really liked how gun owners said media targeted the smallest minority in their little group, but I understand it now. yawn.gif

When (not if) I snap and go on a rampage, and I have the choice between an automatic rifle and a truck, I'm taking the truck. Even less strict restrictions on use and far easier to kill people. At best I'd be able to carry 5~ mags for the rifle; with the truck I'd be able to run down people until I run out of fuel or the bodies of the innocent do enough damage to the engine to kill it.

With that psychotic derail out of the way, what I'm trying to say is: guns aren't anywhere near as dangerous as people believe. Just like with vehicles, 99% of gun owners are responsible and use them for their intended lawful purposes.

[EDIT]And we can't even get Airsoft guns here sad.gif

Yeah. Car salesman should be ashamed of themselves. tounge.gif

When the bad guys have guns, a knife isn't enough. In the US, whenever a state adopts CCW laws, their crime rate instantly plummets. For some reason, the bad guys see armed individuals as NOT being good prey.

Guns don't shoot by themselves, Vinny. You should be more concerned with the person behind the gun. If they're looking to rob the 7-11, they bad. If they're looking to protect themselves, they not bad. SeeImsayn?

Do you honestly believe that murder by means of firearms is caused by registered, over-the-counter firearms? By no means. The government decides to look responsible by attacking law-abiding citizens instead of going through the hard work of actually attempting to shut down black markets. Gun store owners provide a means for which to defend oneself from criminals with illegal weapons.

The only thing I've ever heard bad about Glocks is that (extremely rarely) a case malfunction occurs, and basically blows up the pistol from the inside. Known to Glock owners as a kB!. Other than that, reliability seems to be the hallmark of the pistol.

I myself don't like them purely for aesthetic reasons. If I had to carry CCW, though, a compact would be high up on my wishlist.
