*Thanks for pointing me here, sivispacem
The wife is hounding me to decide what I want for my birthday and the only thing I can think of is another gun for the house. I currently have, for Home defense,
 Remington 870 Express Tactical 20 GA.
 Smith & Wesson Model 67 .38 Special
Both are great Home Defense guns that she can handle comfortably also so this one is going to be mine cool.gif . Currently I am leaning towards a Beretta 92FS 9mm. Everything I read says it is one of the most accurate and reliable handguns out there and it is rare to see something negative posted about them.
I am hoping some people here can offer some other options that I can check out and consider. It will mainly be a range/HD gun so I really don't want something crazy big with ridiculously priced ammo. What is your suggestion, pro's and cons definitely welcome. Might even save me a bit of research wink.gif

As I said in the other thread, take a look at the Sig P226. I think these days its the most widely used military side-arm in the world, and with good reason. I shot one in .357 Sig when I was over in the 'states and really enjoyed it- many people rate it highly as a cartridge- ballistically very "flat" trajectory, lots of energy retention and inherently quite an accurate round- cheap, too, these days, as its been adopted by quite a few police and government departments state-side, and because it basically squeezes a 9mm bullet into a shortened 10mm Auto case. Think 125gr .357 magnum in a relatively compact semi-auto. in theory at least, better suited as a target round than 9mm because of the flatter trajectory; better suited as a HD round than the 9mm or .40 S&W as it packs a greater punch; just as manageable as the .40 in terms of recoil. In fact, shooting for liberty names the S&W M&P in .357 Sig as their best home defence gun in February last year.

A Smith & Wesson M&P might be a better choice. They are both about equal in terms of practicality, but I like the look of the S&W better (Beretta's are just ugly IMO). I think it's a good looking gun. This post has been edited by Chunkyman on Thursday, Jun 21 2012, 22:24

The first option for home defense will be my S&W revolver, which I keep next to the bed while sleeping, but I do understand about the safeties. I have never been put in a situation such as a home invasion so I have no clue how clear I will be thinking. Fingers crossed I don't just curl up in the fetal position and let the wife handle it .
I will gladly look into the M&P and I have heard mixed reviews on the Springfield XD but sounds like it warrants more research also. Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.
p.s. How can you say this is ugly

I won't be doing any concealed carry, I do very little traveling and work 5 minutes from the house .
Anyone heard anything about CDNN? Read about them online and their prices are crazy low, almost too good to be true. A guy I work with just ordered a new Beretta 92 Italian for $499. Think I will wait and see if his comes in as advertised, quite a bit cheaper than buying from Buds just don't know anything about them.
The more I read on the Springfield XD the more I like it. Really I am just looking for something to shoot at the range and sit near me holstered while I am at home. The wifes S&W .38 special revolver fits the bill perfectly...but it's hers so I need one. 9mm is plenty of stopping power and ammo is cheap. Seems like the perfect caliber for my next purchase.
I am hearing good things about the CZ 75B's. Those will probably what I read up on next. Anyone have or shot one before?

| QUOTE (fatal1ty619 @ Friday, Jun 22 2012, 16:20) | | I am looking into possibly purchasing a handgun. Just something small. I don't quite want a pocket pistol, but something smaller than a Glock. I have found a Ruger LCP, .380 ACP for $300. Sound good? Just something to practice with, and to have just in case. | The Ruger LCP is the #1 concealed carry weapon from what I read. This thing is pretty small at 9.40 oz's (with empty magazine). Here is a picture with a size comparison to the Glock 26;

If that is the gun you want, budsgunshop has the same gun but with the lasermax laser (normally $80-$100) for $344. There is probably a good chance your local gunshop/Academy/Gander Mountain will have the same special if you checked. This post has been edited by Grandal. on Saturday, Jun 23 2012, 00:01
