Hey,

has any of you guys came across the problem when trying to connect to one of your friends that has EFLS and i have downloaded version of TLAD.

It brings up a message something like this "Unable to join game because the lost and the damned downloadable content is not compatitable with the episodes from liberty stories"

Why??? its the same game?

Do you have TBOGT DLC also? Maybe you need to have both DLCs to be compatible with EFLC since EFLC multiplayer probably lets people use new weapons and vehicles from TBOGT, which you wouldn't be able to see if you don't have the data included with TBOGT.

I'm just guessing, so don't buy TBOGT to solve the problem unless you wanted to buy TBOGT anyway.

I have both, but the multiplayers are seperate for all 3 GTA IV stories anyways.

This whole thing is BULLsh*t, I want to play online TLAD with my friends who have EFLC, but I can't because I was loyal and punished for getting the DLC months ago.

This doesn't seem to be kicking up much fuss anyhow because nobody cares about TLAD since TBOGT, so there is little to no chance of any solution *sigh*

Its because the DLC TLaD is different than the EFLC TLaD.

See here.

What are the odds of Rockstar updating the DLC version for multiplayer compatibility? The incompatibility is actually more of a disadvantage to EFLC TLAD players because I'm guessing most people who were interested in TLAD got the DLC. Are EFLC TLAD users able to find a lot of players?

It would mean porting over TBOGT Map and any little improvements they've done to the game, which would be a nice gesture really to take TLAD off Xbox Live, update it and put it back on Xbox Live with a message that all current users must download the updated version. Again, nice gesture, the kind of thing other companies do, but this is Rockstar Games, unless money is involved, they won't bother fixing problems.

Criterion, they make all added DLC content a mandatory update for all players and just lock the content out for those who don't buy it, which means Multiplayer is available to EVERYONE, so if you buy the game and not get any DLC, you'll still see bikes, the Movie Based Cars, etc in Multiplayer along with the added Island in the distance.

This way anything added to the game you will see, you can see the new vehicles in action, etc and anyone no matter what version they have can play multiplayer.

Unlike Rockstar where Multiplayer for GTA IV is now split up into:

- GTA IV
- The Lost and Damned DLC
- The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC
- The Lost and Damned Disc
- The Ballad of Gay Tony Disc

There are a good few other companies who do this too, just a shame Rockstar isn't one of them, of course Rockstar have bigger restrictions but they definitely should of at least made DLC and Disc versions of Multiplayer work with each other.

Well that one less on the list then, still should of made TLAD compatible, either by not updating EFLC version or updating the DLC too. Having separate online for the same game is just stupid.

This is a good sign, actually, because it demonstrates Rockstar sees EFLC-DLC compatibility as desirable, and it suggests porting the EFLC version of TLAD to DLC may be a trivial amount of work. It could be all they need to do is make a new build of the DLC installer with the updated files.

Let's give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're already doing it. They just waited till EFLC and TBoGT DLC were done because they had too much on their plates. Microsoft takes 10 days or so to approve new content for Xbox Live. A TLAD DLC update could already be in the pipeline for all we know.

Another possibility is Microsoft may have required a TLAD DLC update be delayed, because everybody downloading TBoGT and TLAD at the same time might be more network traffic than they want.

Considering Microsoft in the UK launched a major service right near the TBOGT release, I doubt they care about the servers, haha.

PS: And that launch was messed up, they had to take the service down due to overload.

Not really, it shows Microsoft are willing to launch a lot of big things at once even if it cripples Live for a few Hours, and as much as we'd like to think, The Lost and Damned isn't exactly a High Priority download of Live at the moment, they could release an Update for it and then just put out the news. Either way, we won't be getting the upgrade and Rockstar have screwed us who bought TLAD by giving us an incomplete version that isn't even fully compatible with everyones multiplayer.

If anything Rockstar is one of the best look at EA they scramble for money mate

The seperate Multiplayers on TLAD have there advantages as you can get away from modders on the "Tlad" downloadable content on xbox 360.
