Hmm, I had no luck with WhatTheFont.. It shown acouple fonts that may be similar but nothing near that.

My guess is it's custom, but I'm not sure what family it comes from. I'd like to know, that's a great font. Would be nice for some music art.

It's not exactly the same, but certain edited letters like the M's and the A in the picture you have shown can be easily achieved by changing the shape in illustrator through vectorising. They obviously couldn't have the spikes on the top of the M's and A because of the other letters so they had to change the default shape of the font.

So, I have this wicked idea for a font.

I'm just curious to go about making it. Is it something I would attempt in Photoshop and save as an .tff or is there a separate program for that?

You can create the font's letters/numbers/symbols in Photoshop, but you will need a separate program to compile the images into a useable font file.

I used Fontographer for the font I created.

I'm pretty sure there's no program other than an actual font building program. I recommend fontstruct, it's easy and free.
