The touch controls were not that important really.

EDITED TO REPLY TO MESSAGE AFTER THIS:

Actually it's at no.1 in the DS game charts at the moment just in front of pokémon platinum, and it's no.1 top selling DS game in Britain.

Really? I can only find one British site where it's No1.

For example, on amazon.co.uk, it's at No40 (behind such sh!t like the Brain Training games, 100 Classic Books [all of which are downloadable from the web for free], and a Hannah Montana game :shudder:).

This is awesome news, especially since i didn't have a DS. I do have a PSP though and got the 2 previous GTA games for it. I guess this wasn't a Nintendo exclusive after all.

What are the odds that this will be ported over to the 360 & ps3 in the likes of DLC. That would be even better. I would much better haveitfor my 360. R* could even charge 1600 or 2400 microsoft points for it. Heck, even release it on disc format like their doing with the 2 xbox exclusive DLC's.

For some reason, i feel that this will not have very well sales, if they are gonna make a port, it sucks, atleast change the name and place and character! Atleast put San Fierro and a Swedish guy, and new weapons, and the physics of Midnight Club for PSP!

It will probably sell quite well due to how much larger the PSP audience for this type of game is than the DS, but how well it is received is a different matter.

I don't think Rockstar are doing this in response to the poor sales (unless they're a bit slow). Most people know that Nintendo DS games have a much longer lifespan than other consoles. That is one of the reasons why the DS is doing so well. The games that are being sold with the consoles are still the games released on the console's release.

Chinatown Wars sales will pick up. All DS games do. It's a lifelong commitment. I think Rockstar are just looking for a quick cash fix. Something to tide them over until their next proper title. I just hope this doesn't dampen the chances of another DS GTA.

I'm glad I won't have to waste over $100 on a system I will only buy one game for.

I was writing a response to this thread with my own opinions and it became a whole article, I have some expectations for this game and I am pretty excited to see it.

Hmmm, I dunno whether I'm pleased or not. Seems like a good idea to widen the CTW range, but CTW was unique to the DS.

There is a rumor that they found a great way to compress the IMG so they can put the IV map!

Wouldn't it be better to make an entirely new game?

IMO CTW is the most unique GTA to date, but I'm getting this feeling that the PSP version will lose alot of that uniqueness of the DS version.

Sure it'll have upgraded graphics, but part of the reason why I like CTW is it doesn't care about graphics. By comparison to LCS, and VCS, CTW has pretty bad graphics, but it's way more fun.

It's good that the PSP owners are getting another GTA, but I think most would rather have SAS than a port of CTW.

Oh interesting. I agree with Mr. Alive up there. I'm sort of happy that there's some new info on a GTA game but it's a port for GTA: Chinatown Wars which makes me feel "ugh". I really hope that the missions will be brand new like it says and that it will be in a different camera view. If it's basically just the port then I might as well forget it since I already have it for DS. The DS version is still fun by the way.

Damn it Rockstar why couldn't you make GTA: San Andreas Stories? I don't care if III canon ended but it would have been better if GTA: San Andreas Stories was made to complete the saga and yeah I already know about that whole "no space" crap.

Why are you all talking about a port? I thought they said it would be a improved GTA CTW for the PSP.

Why are you all talking about a port? I thought they said it would be a improved GTA CTW for the PSP.

Because that's still what it is. Though I don't know how you can call it improved just because it's got better graphics. What about the dual screen features? The touch screen features? The microphone features? Those will all be lost to the PSP because it does not feature that sort of technology.

Those who say that the touch screen features don't play that important a role are lying, to be frank. It plays a part in almost every minigame. It is what makes the game unique. There are a whole treasure box filled with missions that require the use of the touchscreen.

What about carjacking? What about Dragon Haul Z? What about tattooing? What about scratchcards? What about drug dealing? What about paying bridge tolls? What about asembling molotov cocktails? What about Recruitment Drive? What grenade and molotov throwing? What about safehouses? What about e-mails?

All those features are going to be lost to PSP owners. They're getting a second-rate game, in my opinion. I'm happy that they're getting something new, but I think they (they, including me, since I have a PSP) deserve something better. Something original.

I don't know Rockstar. I think you really f*cked up on this one.

This is great news. It won't be remade in 3D or have anything major like that, it looks like it will still be 2D, with the 'improved lighting and animations' they mentioned. And since they're using the 'full power of the PSP', maybe they could pull off GTA IV-level graphics top-down (still with very limited draw distance).

The touchscreen minigames should work well with the analog nub and face buttons, but the pause menu will lose some of it's awesomeness.

I don't think the nub is nowhere near as sensitive enough to pick up the movements the touch screen did on the DS. I've got a feeling that's what these 'new missions' are going to be; replacing the old ones which required the touch screen, which - in my opinion - where some of the best in the game. sad.gif
