I generally prefer the earlier missions to the later ones in the game once you get progressed nearer to Shoreside. They lack the depth and atmosphere that Portland and partly Staunton posses.

I don't know if it's just me, but I always hate the GTA finale missions as they seem to be over dramatized like a cheesy action flick. The same goes for GTA III. However, I loved blowing up the helicopter at the end, even if the explosion effects were rubbish tounge2.gif .

Collecting hidden packages in Portland.. It's just so difficult, because of Mafia starting to shoot.. Now 20 of them collected.

Ambulance missions, mostly because I had to do it after I had completed the main storyline. The gangs totally ripped me apart.

Expresso-2-go

I've been stuck on that mission for years. I came so close aswell. I got 6 out of 8 then I ran out of time just before I reached the last 2.

Hate it.

Both of these problems have a simple cure, do the hidden packages and the ambulance mission before anyone hates you. You should do the hidden packages as soon as you can on each island. Then do any other tasks like collecting vehicles for the export garages, rampages, off-road missions etc. Only when you've done all of those on each island should you start on the missions on that island

Or trigger the mission "Rigged to Blow" from the payphone in Wichita Gardens. Defuse the bomb, leave the Infernus somewhere and take another car to start freeroaming because no gang attacks you during that mission. A good time to collect the hidden packages. But separate missions like rampages and paramedic can't be done while doing this.

The Ambulance/Vigilante (etc) missions are always a pain in the ass. Especially seeing as they take so long. I remember being a level and half away from getting the safehouse spawn (Ambualnce missions) adrenaline pill (I believe) just to fluke and have to do it again, all of that time wasted! angry.gif

I changed my mind. The missions that I hate are the ones that are tricky to do, and when I'm ALMOST finished doing one, I die or fail the mission somehow. Too bad they didn't have 'saving checkpoints' back in '01, eh?

You get the adrenaline pill about half way through. The really annoying thing with the paramedic mission on any of the GTA games is when you fail on the last run of the last level angry.gif

Agree. On PS2 when I was about to get 100% for GTA III, paramedic took me one hundred tries because something kept on happening at level 11. At one try my ambulance ended on it's roof. Another time a cocksucking cop busted me. And then while I was picking up the last patient to finish level 12, he started to run to my ambulance but I went to pickup the police bribe cause another cop was nearby, I went to pick him up but some stupid car crashed into me and my ambulance went 360 grades, running over the patient. I was being like a statue with a handcontrol in my hands that night. When I finally beat it, I was really happy.

That's why it's a good idea to collect all the packages in Portland, before the Leones want to rip out your heart with their bare hands.

Then again it's probably a good idea to collect all the hidden packages before the story's finished since all of the gangs hate Claude.

The Southside sometimes turn on him (rarely), in my experience anyway.
The Yakuza at first hates you until you start working for them (when you unlock Staunton practically). I use to love helping the Yakuza in mini gang battles around the construction area against the Cartel, and sometimes the Yardies.

It's been a while but wasn't there a mission in SSV where you have to commandeer a really slow-moving armoured truck and then take it somewhere whilst being shot at and chased by the FBI? I felt helpless when driving that thing, as if my skill was irrelevant to the end result of the mission.

yeah that one is a real b*tch. mad.gif took me like 20 tries before i passed it, cause you will automatically get 6 stars and they wont go away until the mission is done, no matter what you do. damn military tanks will blow you in a second

Actually that mission is programmed differently. They don't make any FBI or army appear with their vehicles. There may be random roadblocks with Barracks OLs and army dudes wielding AKs (never M16 because it would be impossible then). No tanks, no FBI agents, only police cars will spawn apart from the programmed SWAT vans that are waiting by the van's location.

That one's easy. Just keep driving up and down the Porter Tunnel. Although the other day for some reason, all of a sudden a tank spawned near the Chinatown subway entrance when I was 15 seconds away from victory x_x ?!
