I think my reaction to the awards was quite tame considering I was just getting in from work and had just seen Manchester City players passing around United's trophy like a cheap whore when I logged in on here

Anyway, a belated congratulations to Craig and Mokrie Dela. Worthy winners. I'm hoping Made in Alderney will be finished in time to give Justice in Flames a closer fight next year

Should be fine so long as we're writing for the right reasons and keep honesty as the best policy. That's why I come here, to get away from the "fakeness" of a lot of social media sites. If your post is critical in a constructive and meaningful way, then just say what's on your mind and if they don't like it, f*ck em. Too many have become obsessed with political correctness, illustrating how each new day demands yet another apology from someone who has said something that is fundamentally true but who "hurt someone's feelings".

That's what I thought about WD - it's the one place on here where being honest (harshly so) is constructive rather than flaming; we're all plying our 'trade' here. I've written total garbage before, and deservedly it has been criticised both softly and harshly. I think if there is one place we can be harsh to do good, it's got to be here. I expect no one to apologise for winning the popularity contest that are the awards, but I do think hollow congratulations are far worse than the truth.

To be honest, if you want to write -for real, professionally- then you have to learn to take opinions in your stride, as well as condemnation or objectiveness to your work. If you can't, I doubt you'll make it at all as a human being let-alone a writer.

I doubt JIF would win NEXT year's, better things will come along. When it's done i plan to write something original. I will probably do more fan fics in the future - i've toyed around with an RDR and Assassin's creed one, but never followed through with them. Some of you may remember my attempted Splinter Cell fan fic, that failed miserably.

Ziggy: Fair point. I'm not used to winning things. COL was the first thing i had actually WON something for, especially when it comes to writing. It feels really great having people say that they liked my work, something i'm still not used to. I'm pessamistic and self critical.
I dont know, maybe i misinterpreted what El Zilcho said, or misunderstood how he said it. I dunno.
TBH i see no sense in letting this fester. There'll be no hard feelings from me, i've always said everyone's entitled to their opinion, and if that's it, fine.

On another note, has anyone gone back to read something they wrote years ago? I did recently, and oh my word, it was poor. The concept was terrible too; it was a cheap matrix rip off, based on the concept behind the Net Force series of books.
I also had a story about an agency of assassins, but major plotholes ended that. I wonder if it's worth redoing it - the whole assassin theme, is it cliched now?

And i have another, which is a kind of story of a superhuman powered guy, but again, i wonder if it's cliched.

EDIT: Ziggy, your sig seems to randomise itself everytime i load a page with it on. is this deliberate, if so how have you done it - or is that a trade secret?

But yeah that topic has been discussed to death. People are STILL insisting its gonna have LV and SF in it, despite R* saying only Los santos...

I know what you mean. Max Payne had such a much more elaborate character and backstory. It's still and always will be one of my favourites that I will replay alot!
