| QUOTE (Eminence @ May 18 2009, 14:10) | | QUOTE (Masterkraft @ May 18 2009, 10:31) | | This sounds like a great idea; it's name is classy in itself and holds far more than just mindless chatter. I know we're all guilty of that, though there's nothing wrong with a tad bit of brainstorming. Is this topic going to resume the place of WI as of today or is there still work to be done? |
Not sure what you mean - still work to be done on what? Yeah, this topic's pretty much taking the place of WI, along with plenty of other things, though. | Yeah, that's pretty much it, just wondering if the replacement was effective immediately. | QUOTE | | If people are struggling with writer's block, and it seems like an obvious solution, but google it. You'll find countless activities, exercises, ideas or tips on how to get rolling again. |
I find Seventh Sanctum to have all that under one website, it's helped me countless times in the past.

Just finished reading The Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, brutal f*cking read. It's about a kid who joins one of the most notorious scalper gangs in history. It gives you a whole different view on the wild west, the racism, the wars and so much more.
I'm going to read another book of his called The Road. Wikipedia tells me this;
The Road follows a man and a boy, father and son, journeying together for many months across a post-apocalyptic landscape, some years –after a great, unexplained cataclysm. Civilization has been destroyed, and most species have become extinct. The sun is obscured by dark clouds, and the climate has been altered radically. Plants do not grow. Humanity consists largely of bands of cannibals, and refugee-travelers who scavenge for food.
Sounds very FO3-like.

| QUOTE (Osric @ May 18 2009, 19:19) | | Me and El Zilcho are in the final stages of making Build Up Your Army, and right now, I'm waiting on him to reply back on the PM I sent him. Anybody want to join this? It's like BUYG, only it's set in 2018, and we have militaries instead of criminal enterprises. The main focuses are on a cold war between the USA and China, a Russian Civil War, and a Middle East conflict that will lead to World War III. |
I'll be joining for sure. Right now at the moment, I'm really inspired on writing a story based on the experimentations and testings of an extreme research facility, narrated as diary journals, from scientists and other folks and such. There will be a few spinoff characters in this one. I'm currently working on it right now, pretty good so far, is what I can say. I think I'll actually be able to come out with this one. The only [mini] series I'll able to pull through with, besides P&B and WTTE. I've failed, or couldn't continue with others such as Wretched Face, My Good Outfit, and some pieces that hadn't even left past the first draft (Suburbian Bloodshot. Rodney Slugline. and that one I think I titled Round the World?)

Damn Lochie, you beat me to talking about an actual novel. Personally, I don't know if I can read Cormac's stuff because he doesn't use anything to indicate speech. It is basically the only thing I get pissed off about when reading. I would love to read his stuff, and there is a trailer out for The Road now. Here it is. Looks f*cking sweet, though I don't know how well it will match up to his book. I recently read Darkly Dreaming Dexter which was pretty good... but I definitely like how the story was changed in the show. Just certain things work a lot better I think. In addition, I read the Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. It assuredly establishes a dark fantasy tone for the new game coming out later this year. Currently I'm reading The Last Wish, aka the first Witcher book, and it is definitely really sweet. I'm probably at page 100 at the moment, I've been watching the extended LOTR and playing loads of Oblivion, and that has kept me from reading a lot of it. If there is one thing that has happened from reading all of these fantasy books, plus watching and playing such things, it has given me an idea of something to write. Also, I'm still planning on posting the updated version of The Harlot and that new story in the grocery that I mentioned before. Just been preoccupied.
