suggestions please, i will read and consider everything, good or bad.
i will need help on this.


Map

I already have a map (based on Minnesota) of the islands (second or third page for the map) , and i already have two dams in place.
I'm deciding on how to make the cities and what to name them.I have a small island which i see how to make a place on.
The state is going to be called New Devestado ,but in the game it's going to be nicknamed "the Zext".
my map is on page 2

Engine
The Engine Will be a mix of the Gta IV Engine and the GTA San Andreas Engine, it will have graphics as good as gta IV, the cars will be photo realistic, and the textures are going to be hd [like gta 4 but better], and the pedestrians will be generated (Skin color, Hair colour, Clothes, etc.), there will be more Vehicles than in gta 4 and you will be able to swim both on the surface of the water and underwater.
Story

(Cutscene)

Liberty City, 2001

Joe: "..hey bro im in liberty city, after that crappy plane ride..."
Sean: "sweet!"
Joe: "oh, sh*t, something just blew up!"
Sean: "yeah thats what Liberty City's Like, you gotta get used to that"
Joe: "call you back later"
Sean: "Seeya"
(Joe hangs up)

Liberty City, 2011

Joe: "Who the crap is this?"
Caller: "Joe your brother is dead"
Joe: "who are you!"
Caller: "Im Eric, Your brother's friend, dude im not lying, your bro's dead"
Joe: "Anytime to wait for me?"
Eric: "Sure the funeral's tomoroww"
Joe: "how di.." Eric: "no speak over phone, one word, mafia"
Joe: "I'll see you there"
(Eric hangs up)
Joe: "No!"
(Cutscene Ends)


(New Cutscene)

New Devestado, 2012

(Joe walks out of his apartment...)
(Gunshot!)
(Automatic Fire)
Policeman1: "Frank! No!"
Gangsta1: "Frank's sleeping with the street, and so are you"
(5 gunshots)
(Policeman1 dies)
(Policeman2 pulls out radio behind car): "I need Backup,I repeat, I need backup!"
(Gangsta2 Throws grenade at policecar, killing policeman2): "Not anymore!"
(4 policecars swerve into view, followed by a Swat truck)
(Police Surronds Gangsters)
(Swatman1 knocks joe to the ground, and puts handcuffs on him, all others get captured)
Swatman2: "get in!"
(cutscene ends)
(New Cutscene, in Swattruck)
Gangsta1: "if Sean was still here none of that sh*t would have happened, we would get the guns and the cars, and the police gives up, but no!"
Joe: "Sean Nazar?"
Gangsta2: "yeah how you know him?"
Joe: "im his brother"
Gangsta3: "sweet, you know how to handle a gun?"
Joe: "I guess so"
Gangsta1: "then youre in"
Gangsta4: "Dude whats your name?"
Joe: "Joe"
(Gangsta5 wakes up): "Joe remember me?"
Joe: "no"
Gangsta2: "Thats Eric "
Joe: "Eric was the dude that called me a year ago telling me about my Bro"
(Gangsta6 pulls out a small phone): "guys shut up, someones calling me"
Caller: "Dale, you awake?"
Gangsta6 (Dale): "yeah"
Caller: "youre in that swat van right?"
Dale: "yeah"
Caller: "ok, just wait"
(caller hangs up)
(the van gets bumped really hard)
Swatman1: "What the...!"
(gunshots are heard)
Swatman2: "crap, not this again"
(Aotumatic Fire begins)
(Swatman1 screams, and dies)
(the van stops)
(swatman2 gets out , only to be killed)
Gangsta3: "Dale, that was Josh on the line"
(van door opens, and all the gangsters jump out, including joe)
(Breakout_Gangsta1 gets them all out of handcuffs): "get back in the van, we dont have enough space, in the car"
Joe: "I'll Drive"
Breakout_gangsta1: "we'll meet at the Zext dam, the one higher up"
(cutscene Ends)
Now a mission starts where you drive the van to the Dam and get a savepoint inside the dam

The whole idea of a revolution seems a bit outlandish, silly and OTT for a GTA game.

And the World Trade Centre is out-of-bounds for R*, as they themselves admitted.

I know what you mean. It's still, if not even more, outlandish, even more for the earlier GTAs. Now R* is striving for a realistic plot, I cannot see them do this.

Well, still unrealistic, as I doubt the world will fall apart when 2012 comes. Obviously a GTA set in 2012 should have references, but I highly doubt, both IRL and in GTA, such an event will happen.

i dont belive it either ,but alot of people do ,so people will do anything.and besides it's more gta-like if everything is burning and people kill each other and there's police everywhere and who cares if it's alittle bit unrealistic

OK. since nobody seems to like the story line, I'll run a simple contest, email me a new story line ,my email is txp15@scasd.org.
You can use any names , and feel free to add any ideas about th map ,missions , etc.
I'll choose the best one and i'll write my own and compare them all.

The setting seems to be more towards the mercenaries series then GTA. Hell in Mercs 2 there was a nuke .

here's the new storyline:
11 years ago, Joe Nazar came from Liberty City to New Devestado, For his Brother's funeral. Joe didn't go back to Liberty City, because in New Devestado he had found a new life away from the common Gangs, and Drug Dealings he experienced back in Liberty City.

Now it's 2012 and in New Devestado, There's more people coming, more buildings being built, The City expanding. With all of that comes more crime. Joe, who lived on the edge of the city, now is in the middle of it. It's not long until crime comes to his neighborhood. Then a Gang decides to start a shootout. Joe is mistaken for one of the gang members, and is going to jail, but when Gang reinforcements hijack the truck and kill the officers, they all escape to the Zext Dam, where they stay, and Joe has no choice, but to stay as well. Joe learns that fate has put a reward on his head,and it's either surrender and die, or to fight back and live.
