So Niko is dating Kate and according to the GTA4 friendship page, Kate likes Russian clothes. Not my version. Every time I picked Kate up and was wearing something Russian she made negative comments. She does hate Perseus clothing but when I didn't change Niko out of Modo clothes I found out she liked what he was wearing.

No idea is the PC Kate likes Russian and dislikes Modo but my Xbox 360 version she likes Modo not Russian.

I haven't tried it out on my PC yet, but the girlfriend guide at IGN tells me that she likes Modo, not Russian. So, there's probably a mistake in the guide on gta4.net.

I've found on both the Xbox and PC version that Kate likes Modo.

I have bought 2 sets of Modo clothing. Before asking her out on a date, I make sure I change my Modo outfit completely from the last date with her. On every date she always complements me on my new clothing. This Modo change also works perfectly with Carmen.
The GTA4 clothing list is correct though for Kiki & Alex. I still change my outfit completely for the same outfitter when dating these two.
Always makes me smile when they comment on how they haven't seen the item of clothing before, when I was wearing it two dates before. I think they must have the memory leak

I've spotted a few errors with the list of likes / dislikes of Niko's girlfriends. Eg. I can't even get Alex to go bowling; tells me to take her somewhere else.

Not really an error but Kiki loves the Feltzer, she often comments on how this car makes her cream. She also loves the Huntley Sport, Rebla and Landstalker. Again though, don't use the same type of car two dates in a row with any of them.

Don't forget the girlfriends also have negative comments if you wear the same clothes everytime like "So that's why you stink, you were wearing those clothes last time".

with my xbox360 i noticed a few things wrong with the gta4.net kate's likes/dislikes. she always complained when i tried buying new russian clothes and demanded to know why i wasn't wearing 'those great glasses' [russian clothes are deffo a no-no with her] and i turned up in a patriot, took her for pool and she complained that she hated the game [tho she does like darts].

my point is; can someone not edit the kate's likes/dislikes? i haven't bothered with the other girls yet cos it seems hard enough work just keeping roman, jacob, brucie, dwayne and packie around the 75-100% 'like/respect' range to get their support. sleeping with kate, is, i think, an achievement which, because of the gta4.net advice, i haven't achieved.

can someone PLEASE PM me the details of kate's likes/dislikes and any other differences from gta4.net? i have spent a LOT of time racing around wondering why kate finds me repulsive or despises where i take her and, so far, the only car i found she liked was..well.. NOT a car but a hellfury!! any help and spoilers are welcome. i just want to get this finished as close to 100% as poss [haven't played this for a full year!! kinda forgot!]. darts and the pub were darts is played are the only places she has enjoyed. i'm sure i took her bowling and she liked it but that was over a year ago!

but, since gtaV is due out soon, i cannot see anybody making any changes to gta4.net.

Well, what can I say, women have standards and certainly notice a lot of things that men seldom pick up on. A sense of style (and the ability to bathe regularly) is an essential. Although to be honest, like Packie suggests, Kate comes across as too fussy to me, a real finicky bitch. Guess my real life gender.

it's true, sad to say. but don't we all have standards? anyway, since i've been following the advice of gta4.net after giving up on my own attempts i just want to get her bedded [and does niko marry her? i'm guessing he does?] cos i wanna get this game done before gtaV! shame she isn't as easy as ..er.. what was her name? michelle? the agent? of course, she had an agenda so...

can anyone tell me what vehicle kate likes? i'm guessing mid range. posh, flash cars don't seem to impress her and cheapo POS don't. jesus, this whole 'kate' thing is starting to wear out my patience.
she's never complained about wearing the same clothes twice or them smelling. in fact, the opposite - she wants to know why i'm not wearing 'those shoes', 'those glasses that look so good', 'what happened to the other trousers?' kinda thing. i always wait for her to call me cos i''m trying to keep everybody - bar roman - on 90-100% like/respect for when i spend several days hunting the pidgeons, assassin missions, stevie's thefts, etc, so KBing them on the phone 2 or 3 times won't take them below 75-80% so i still got their support [dwayne's henchmen are a bit naff tho].
possibly i should call her more often for dates? that may make a difference. btw, is kate the "that special someone" achievement? she HAS to be!! i've taken her out and she has liked everything i wear and enjoyed the pool but driving home she says 'i'm bored hurry up and take me home'?!?!?!?! so, i ticked all the marks for a good date but she says she's not happy right before i park at her house! i gotta feeling this is some kinda bug or... i dunno... AI women... i dunno...

EDIT:i can't get 100% completion cos i left michelle at 94% after snowstorm. this is ridiculous!! ah well, at least i don't have to do the campaign story missions only again in under 30 hours achievement.

EDIT 2:does anybody know what vehicle makes kate happy? this is just plain boring now. i have spent nearly $2000 on kate alone dating with every combo. she loves modo clothes. feltzer car? no. infernus? no. coquette. no. i haven't found any car she liked. haven't tried 4x4s cos i avoid them, so big and clumsy. she seemed to like the motorbike but i'm told no women like m/bikes in the game. she likes darts, pool, drinkin at steinway, and pool, darts, etc. so i got clothes and entertainment right.. now it's just the friggin car!!! this is really annoying!! it's as annoyin as makin me tie up A woman [any woman, doesn't matter!! i mean, how old am i? 14? no!] and put her on railway lines in RDR!! rockstar games!!! grrrr!!!!

When you get to the point in the game where you are asked to make a decision over a MAJOR decision in Niko's life, my advice is - Save your game because whatever decision you make (don't want to spoil it) the outcome will surprise you - and there are two possible outcomes which come out of that key decision, both of which led to two different endings for the GTA-IV game. One last thing -- anyone who has not yet tried The Lost and the Damned and The Ballard of Gay Tony - GRAB 'EM, because they rock and play them in that order! In my opinion, TBoTG is the hardest of the lot due to the need for the primary character, Luis, to spend a lot of time in the air, sometimes WITH a helicopter, but most of the time in freefall! Whoo-Hoo!

Kate is relatively simple to please - she is a good old-fashioned down to earth type, unlike the brothers. The only advice I can give you on the car is, she dislikes speed and being flashy is just irritating to her. Think low-end but NOT beat-up and you might get someplace.

as for kate? i've tried low end, high end, the $40k car [there;s only one] and the posher 4x4s but she 's still not impressed. i guess i'm just gonn have to wade thru the hordes of different $35k vehicles and upward up unil i get a cognoscenti [never seen one in game yet].

soddit! i'll find a cavalcade [the huntley sport is uselss] and try that. the clothes are right, the entertainment is right unless - for some unexplained reason - she decides, "well, that was no fun, take me home"... we;re 2 secs from her FRIGGIN HOME!!!! ARGHHH!!

but after this last attempt i'll try your advice on low end but with a touch of classs [a sentinal? sultan?]. maybe PMP600... tho i think i may have tried that. besides, the name.. PMP? Happy to assist, but I'm not sure my suggestion WAS helping you. Kate proved to be a pain in the ass for me too and yes, I'm a woman (my secret is out at last, female RPG Beta Tester tells all shock horror!). I find most of the female characters in GTA-IV to be pretty two-dimensional, but then there is only so much you can do with a character and Niko and the other primary characters are well-rounded because we have so much more exposure to them. I'm busy at the moment ripping apart GTA-IV, TLAD, TBoGT with OpenIV in order to find all of the recorded dialogue (speech.rpf / scripted_speech.rpf) in the hopes of determining once and for all a complete listing of all of the phrases and comments made in and around Liberty City.

i'd said 'am i the only one who is finding it impossible to 'bed' kate? this 'issue' actually made me give up the bloody game!!! THIS IS NOT GOOD!!

for the devs of GTAV... do not make a task almost ompossible. oh sure there are those who WANT to take kate on a date in every posible vehicle but me? no. if i'm told 'take medium -low end but still some class in her car tastes' then i'm assuming 'feltzer'; 'sultan'; 'sentinel'; 'sabre', tho pretty sure feltzer didn't work tho i was wearing russki clobber back then.

all in all i loved vice city [tho 80s music was mostly poo, except for sisters of mercy], SA had GREAT music and was fun getting tatted up and gymming it up, then eating hamburgers to watch him turn into a fat abbot whilst fighting off the crackheads during territorial gang wars [GAWD! I SO LOVED THOSE GANG WARS!! now THAT was pure genius!]. wonder if that other bgta style game in it's 3rd edition has gang wars? i did enjoy that. possibilities for co-op MP are great.

i find it a shame that niko never beds kate. it is made clear that she only wants to be a friend.

her ending is very sad, considering the life she coped with and lived in fear of as a youngster.

hope this helps those guys like me who've struggled to make sense of this character only to find complete frustration!!


hope you guys don't spend several score hours trying to figure kate's "problem" [for want of a better term]. i know my mind is at rest... amongst other things.

I liked the character of Kate. She really was the most normal of all the characters Niko knew in the story, which is part of the reason he is drawn to her.

While most players "preferred" Kate to die instead of Roman because "no sex wtf lol", Niko liked her and that's what's important.
