For me, I definitely think England will get 2018, and I love to see 2022 go to Australia (it'd be such an interesting idea, and they've never hosted it before).

what about you?

Can't happen. If a UEFA nation gets it in 2018, all other UEFA nations cannot hold it until at least 2030.

I definitely think that Spain will host a tournament soon whether that be on their own or joint hosts with Portugal depends on a few things.

Just hope England can grab the 2014 or 2018 world cup though, let Spain/Portugal have a Euro tounge.gif.

2010 wink.gif

I reckon Australia will get it sooner rather than later. We hosted the Sydney Olympics (a very successful one aswell) so we're no stranger to massive sporting events.

We've got the stadiums, the facilities and the money to hold it.

I reckon Spain or England may hold it before us though.

On the topic of 2014 however, I cannot wait for it. I'll be going for sure. South Africa doesn't interest me as much as Brazil does.

Australia should hold it eventually, no reason why we can't. If it's here, I'll probably even go to a game. smile.gif

f*ck me i was getting the years mixed up, i blame the time i was posting tounge.gif.

So 2010 is South Africa, we won't win that due to the intense heat, 2014 is Brazil and again we won't win that due to the heat and if England don't get the 2018 and Spain do then we won't win that due to heat.

Gives the English media an excuse for failing tounge.gif.

Or, perhaps, we won't win it because, I d'know, we're not good enough? Being realistic here, you can't possibly put all blame on the climate. Yes it will be a factor, and yes it will have an affect, but based on our current outfit, I don't think we're good enough yet to get anywhere close to winning the cup. I really hope I get proven horribly wrong, though.

I've been on a football holiday to Uganda, during a very hot period (weather was well over 30°), and I played five games, every minute of them, and I f*cking loved it! The weather was a barricade at first, but I got over it almost as soon as I arrived there, and thoroughly enjoyed playing. Though I could be an exception, I can see when the '10 World Cup comes around, and we get knocked out in the Second round that everyone will blame it on the climate, when Russia get to the final. tounge.gif

Australians love sport and have incredibly huge arenas, seriously a world cup in Australia would pack out every game. Etihad Stadium, MCG, AAMI Stadium, Melbourne Victories new stadium, The Gabba, SCG, ANZ Stadium, Subiaco, Tons of stadiums with a large capacity believe me a world cup in Australia would be brilliant and recieve tons of fans flocking to every game. 2018 Is Australia, 2012... China?

Mate I think you've got your years mixed up - 2012 isn't a World Cup year for football. Also you left out the impressive Skilled Park, granted it would probably need a seating upgrade to host one of the bigger games, but they could certainly play a couple of the 1st round games there.

Australia are smart for getting the support of Italy for their dual bids. After all they did con the referee in the last World Cup so it's the least they could do. tounge.gif

My instincts tell me the 2018 host nation(s) will be in the northern hemisphere, more specifically in Europe. Spain would be an obvious standout. Australia will then be selected as host for 2022 because as stated previously we've proven ourselves more than capable of hosting huge sporting events, we have a lot of football stadiums and tickets would sell out faster than a team of Pommies wilting in our warm climate.

South Africa doesn't have extreme heat, the climate is similar to much of Europe.

It's funny 'cause half those stadiums are absolutely sh*t for soccer. Seriously, like at the Telstra Dome/Colonial Stadium/Etihad Stadium or whatever the f*ck it's called now, you sit like 50 metres from the f*cking players. It would much better, in my opinion, if the stadiums were like in England, where there are no sh*tty athletics tracks or whatever in the middle, and you can actually feel the atmosphere rumbling throughout the crowds. The only stadiums which are decent for this in Australia are the rugby ones; f*ck MCG, f*ck SCG, etc.; leave them for Rugby and Cricket.

Still, you're right about them filling up though. Considering how multicultural this country is, most of us probably don't really care about how Australia goes, but about how the country where our parents come from goes.

50 Meters is an exaggeration... And Docklands Stadium... the MCG, and The Olympic Stadium in Sydney have all played host to some form of soccer match and if you've been to a Melbourne Victory match or a World Cup Qualifier at Docklands the atmosphere is great! And storm yes your right i meant to say 2022, and I agree with the Italy statement... he would've won gold in Beijing for Diving I swear... that was disgraceful and low and to do it to such a no-name in world soccer like Australia... well Italy were dirty and couldn't even put away Australia without cheating. Strip them of the World cup i say!

Well if you've ever been to a European match, especially in England, you'll know that the atmosphere will take a sh*t on the f*cking Etihad Stadium. Yeah, they're decent stadiums, but they're not built for football.

You just wait for that new stadium in the city, not sure what it's called... you know, the one that's just above the entrance to the Domain Tunnel, near the Botanical Gardens? Now, that's a purpose built stadium, and that will be good. f*ck Etihad Stadium. icon14.gif

Oh, and why should they strip Italy of the World Cup? That's a little too far, eh? tounge.gif

There was an interesting piece in World Soccer magazine this month about the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. It said that England were looking strongest for 2018, and I remember reading elsewhere that one of the main reasons we didn't get the 2006 World Cup (I think it was the '06 one) was that our campaign runners emphasised that we were the home of football, and it pissed every voter off.

I'll try find the magazine tomorrow or sometime and copy some up to here.
