Hey cp1, is there currently any conflict between the rebels and the army? Because i think thats the Mexican armys work, i've seen it too lots of times.

Yes I was at that point in the game, but just yesterday it happened again - and I had already beaten the game.

@Ash
Oh wow! That's perfect! Thanks. It only shows them after you have beaten them, so I'll have to write them down sometime. Again, thanks a lot!

I don't know why but I am not enjoying this as much as I feel I should. Got it yesterday and I'm still in the McFarlene missions and Johnson, starting on that third guy's mission, I forgot his name. I just find it somewhat dull... the scenario is beautiful but from someone who enjoys GTA IV and LA Noire RDR seems so empty and lacks life, which I'm not blaming the game for, but the era which it depicts. Any suggestions on how I can enjoy the game more? Haven't tried multiplayer yet because for some reason whenever I try connecting I am not able to join a game.

Yeah, it did. I am in the Fort Mercer attack mission and I've had quite a bit of fun and got to have some sense of the map. Let's see what's next haha.

f*ck me, that 5 Finger Filet is a pain in the tits. I can pull off Blackwater Poker, Liar's Dice, and even Arm Wrestling fairly well but I always mess up on 5 Finger. I'm a good $75 in debt for that game under my money tab, sucks since I need $1000 total gambling winnings to finish that merchant outfit. Anybody have any tips?

Liar's Dice is my favorite but you only win $40, sadly. Blackwater Poker is easy for me too, but only if it's 1-on-1. Any more players and I can hold my own, but can't clear the table.

That was by far the most pain in the arse minigame I've come across -- so I avoided it for ages until I was after 100%.
When I sat down and really concentrated on it I got it done - and was a bit easier than I was expecting it to be.

I think the page on thw RDR.net connected wiki page was helpful. Although I seem to remember that their info on buttons for PS3 was wrong.
Best tip is to only look at the controller, not the screen. Practice enough and you'll have the movemets memorised.
If you're short of money, cheating at the saloon in Blackwater was the best money spinner for me.

The Red Dead Wikia has the button patterns. They all work.

i sturggle with poker. I know how to play, and with the Elegant suit i clean up, but i want to enter the high stakes ones with the white suit, but i NEVER win. If i raise, they fold, if i bet they always have something better. Bluffing and "faces" dont work, how can you have poker without them?

I dream of poker in V and RDR "2" using LANoires Facial tech.

Make sure you only face 1 or 2 guys, easier to win then. Either eliminate them by getting them to fold and quit then, quit and instantly start a new game.

If you play poker 1-on-1, whenever they check if you bet the minimum above checking they often fold. That's how I beat Sam Wah in Blackwater, a bunch of little 60 chip pots.

As for 5 Finger, I know the patterns but I must mess up my rhythm or something because I always stab myself. No matter how slow I try to go I always mess it up. I can usually beat the first 2 or even 3 players, but I can't beat the last guy who uses the square. sad.gif I need to program a robot to play it for me so it's always a steady rhythm. lol.gif

Also, on that note, anybody ever gotten a Royal Flush? Highest I've gotten was an Ace high spade flush.

I made quad Queens once.
By the way, I just watched this video because I was feeling nostalgic and I just have to say this again: Red Dead Redemption is hands down the best game ever made!
Well it's up there in the top. biggrin.gif

Never had a royal flush - never seen one in RDR or real life games tbh
The odds of getting one have to be on the thousends...

That videos crap. The guy got praised for it, when all he did was record ba footage and slice together cutscenes to create a boring abridged version of johns tail. There's fan made vids, machinimas, etc that are far far better

Argh, I think I have issues because I'm not fully entertained with it. I don't know, I find it a good game. I'm still in the Mexico storyline and hope to go to the Northern part of the map soon but just don't seem to want to play it... I don't think it's the game's fault but my fault because I find the game very good I just don't have fun playing it. Today I tried Multiplayer for the first time in a private free mode but didn't have so much fun. Maybe it was because there were only 6 people and we were in game chat so we couldn't talk to each other, or maybe it was because I didn't know where anyone else was... The map is too big at times for horses so I usually rely on transportation.

My goal is to finish the story mode before moving onto exploring the map and doing the extra stuff and further exploring the map.

In real life, a guy at my table made a royal flush once. And then quad 3s. But then his luck ran out and he got eliminated. By me.
And about the video, it worked for me because that's kind of what I was looking for, some footage and some cutscenes to remind me of the game. I haven't played it in a while, and even though I got this strong desire to play it right now I'm just too lazy to turn on the 360. :|

@fgcarva1: Maybe you'll grow into it, but I dunno, since you're already in Mexico. You just don't find it that entertaining and captivating. I have that feeling about some games.

Push through Mexico, I'd say Mexico, early West Elizabeth, and the beginning are the three worst parts of the game. Also try reading the wiki, it opened my eyes to things I didn't even know you could do (such as bank robbing, or dueling).

I recently got Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition and I can definitely say that it is the best game I've ever played in my entire life!!! But the only thing that sucks is I know what happens at the end of the game because when the game was first released I thought I'd never get to play it in my life as I didn't have a console, so I watched the ending on youtube. Now I regret it. sad.gif

Still I love this game and everything about it! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif inlove.gif

Yeah Mexico was lackluster, but it has its moments. Personally, the first playthrough I had as John was the best, but I still enjoy just free-roaming after the story is complete nearly just as much.

Just won at poker while wearing the old duster - no cheating.
McF R, 100 chips to start, walked away with 300 (said to self that was my limit) had a few good hands an actually managed a few bluffs!

Whispers that RDR "2" is in the works excite me deeply - more so than GTAV tbh (excitement for V is zero because of R*'s abstainance from promotion over it. Was hopeful for Xmas release but that's a no no)

I hope it fixes a couple of my problems with RDR - 1 the maps too empty. Apart from 2/3 towns, there's no civilisations specially out west. Hal the map is pointless.
2- poker and blackjack are lacking. You can't surrender in BJ, pokers bluffing is useless and I feel the AI is a bit hit n miss.

More to do outside of missions too - chariot races, cattle herding - these things were missing from free roam. If "2" has you as a true outlaw I want a lot of bank robberies and train robberies - in depth missions where you can do ten in different ways.

I hate that term, RDR 2, it's like people refuse to acknowledge Red Dead Revolvers existence! As much as people think it was a bad game, it's still the first game in the Red Dead series, RDR2 is Redemption.

Itīs because Revolver has nothing to see with RDR. For example, each gta, fifa, assassin creed or halo is a evolution of the previous version, but in fact the essence is the same, however RDR is a new concept, extremely different to revolver.
Revolver itīs a linear shooting-adventure gameplay that the player must progress through,Redemption is a free-roam style where the player can venture and interact with different kinds of things.

For me,RDR is not a spiritual successor of Revolver, is a new concept of game.
