So, I got my first one yesterday morning. It's about halfway there, he's got some shading to do, outline touch-ups and the hair filling in. I love her.

I don't think I'll ever get a colored tattoo. Black is the way to go.

I feel the same. It isn't that I don't like coloured tattoos, it's just I don't think I'd suit that style, especially not now. My friend has two sleeves of Japanese inspired artwork including a Geisha girl, some lotus flowers, Koi carp and a reallu beautiful interpretation of the Great Wave off Kanagawa trickling around his upper arm. It looks good on him but I was more fond of the black ink approach. I feel it looks classier.

Yeah I agree. My skin isn't that dark, but I like the look of black and white tattoos and couldn't get color unless I knew it would be very vibrant.

Set my appointment to get my first one in November. YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone) on my left bicep.

I have one month until I get my first ever tattoo, yet I'm still addicted to ideas for other tattoos I could also get, currently bobbing around the idea of getting this: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3t4viFe...lakwlo1_400.jpg - on my inner (lower) bicep, close to where the elbow is, so it would be visible if I was wearing a short sleeve.

I have a fear I'm gonna just end up with full sleeves in a few years , can't stop thinking of new ideas and designs that I love.

[Technique]

So I'm thinking about my first tattoo since a while now. I know there are many people doing it, but still, the tattoo has an individual meaning to me. I don't really give a sh*t what other people decide to wear on their skin, even if everyone has the same. I'm going with the egyptian eye and I'll make a sort of tribal out of it.. I'm still not sure where to put it. Either upper arm going over to chest or completely on my chest.

That's just the basic design, but as I said, I'll make it to be part of a tribal.

Not to sound pedantic but what significance does this have for you. Also why tribal with an Egyptian eye (eye of Horus?). Excuse me if I am wrong but I don't see the correlation and I am also very curious.
