WARNING- POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

Hey there!

So, over the past few days me and Mainland Marauder put our thinking caps on, and devised this challenges topic, where I post up specific challenges, and then you say whether or not you can do what the challenge asks, or if it is even possible, complete with methods. In the below table will be the current list of challenges, and all credit for the first few goes to Mainland Marauder (I'm a bit of a novice on SA, and I'm awaiting delivery on a new SA game, so none from me as of yet!).

This isn't a competition, and points will not be offered for people who get the achievement first, this is just a little bit of fun, in which you'll be doing things and attempting things on San Andreas that you have never once thought about doing before. Well, most of you!

By all means, I want you to contribute to this as much as you can, and would be really greatful if your were to propose some possible challenges ideas. If the challenge is feasible, then it will be added to the table for members to try and complete. if anybody does have a challenge in mind, or any queries, please, PM it to me or Mainland Marauder, or post your idea/questions in this topic! If you have completed a challenge, you do not have to provide photographic proof, although it would be nice. You can simply list your method, and the post you make will be linked to the table. I will update the table daily (forgive me if I miss a day), the only thing left to do now is begin this thing!

-For anybody who wishes to post in challenges of their own, since you devised the challenge, you have the right to instill any ruling, unless I deem it to be too easy, or obviously too ridiculous

-Even if a challenge has been completed, you can still atempt it multiple times. Every genuine addition will still be added to the table.

a Melee? weapon. The diffentition I know would NOT be a firearm.
A knife, Entrenching tool (shovel) and such like.

Wiki Defined: A melee weapon (from French, "mixed", referring to groups of fighters interlocked in close combat) is any weapon that does not involve a projectile — that is, both the user and target of the weapon are in contact with it simultaneously in normal use.

During the Great War shotguns were sometimes called Trench Sweepers.

I agree with lil weasel. Being able to use the dual wielded shotguns defeats the purpose of trying to win a gang war using only melee weapons.

Whoops! That got the wrong impression. Changed the wording round a little bit. Exempt, as in exempt because it is not a Melee weapon, meaning you cannot use it.

Well, since it's "Can You Do It?", I'd go with the first one. I'd say a time alotment of 24 minutes which is equal to one day in the game.

Glad to see this up! Great work. A thing to point out: You've got "The running Dog" as the name of Big Smoke's second mission. The actual name of this mission is "Running Dog".

Now, I'll add a few challenges:

- Can you complete the BMX challenge with 0 bicycle skill? Do this by starting a new game, don't get on the bike, and head directly to the Skate Park.
- (from the VC version) How many tags can you do within one hour of starting a new game, without the use of a tags map or the internet?

About the winning gang war with melee weapon challenge, I've done it in my Minimal Kill Challenge run. I used the territory in Playa del Seville. There is a dock that leads into the water there, and after I started the gang war, I'd run there and all the gang members would come rushing to the dock. For the first wave, full of bat-wielding Ballas, I had to use a melee weapon (a dildo I think it was) to whack a few gang members backwards and make them fall off the dock and drown. For the second and third wave, all I needed was to wait in the water, where the oyster pickup was, and all the gang members would fall into the water from the dock like lemmings!

This is a great excuse for me to get back to playing SA, great job again flicko.

Thanks for the props, buddy. It's nice to hear something like this will promote members to pick up their copies and start to game again. Thanks for your contributions also, they've both been added to the table (nice thinking with the tag challenge). You'll notice that your method to win a gang war with a melee weapon has also been added to the table. Nice going!

Unlimited, 24 minutes is a little tame isn't it..!? I've upped the time period a tad(!), something to really challenge the people wishing to take part in this.

My SA hasn't arrived yet, so unfortunately, for the moment I can't attempt any of the challenges. I'll be sure to get right on it as soon as the game arrives, let's hope more challenges have been created by then.

Excellent, speaking of the Running Dog challenge, I've gone ahead and completed it!

It was quite simple really. My first run through, I just trailed the guy to see where he goes. Apparently if you let him get far enough (past the first block of houses west of the train tracks) his buddy comes and picks him up in a car and drives off, and you have to chase them with a car. So in my second run through, I jacked a car and let the guy run off, then intercepted him in the alley west of the train tracks (where he was jumping over the fences of the houses) and whacked him a few times with my flowers. Just 4 or 5 whacks was enough.

I’ve gotten it several times by landing a Shamal on top of that building, and then taking off again; all without damaging the Shamal.

Also, there are easy ways of doing this without moving around at all; for example, Cops cannot get to Carl while he’s standing around the Stadium in San Fierro (where the Blood Bowl is done), just outside of it…. another obvious way to make this easy is to go inside a building (such as a Safe house), and wait it out, and hope the Wanted Level doesn’t drop too fast.

You might pull off the same thing if you start a gang war at the stray territory at Bayside Marina. That group of Vagos is really weak. I dare you to try winning one of the territories where they come out with MP5s and AKs in the second and third waves.

The dildo packs a hell of a punch as a melee weapon, sure enough. I usually only do it for the occasional humor factor, but it works every bit as well as a baseball bat.

I'm torn between restarting SA for the first time in awhile or finishing flicko's challenge in VC. I'll do a little of both; I'm off for a couple days

There are several good places like this. You can get up in the ruins near CJ's garage in Doherty, which is probably my favorite staging ground for mindless impromptu sniper/rocket massacres. Nothing can get you up there. There's another little courtyard in Downtown Los Santos which has a VLA tag and a Sprunk machine, and that's another spot where the cops have a hard time getting to you. Those that do are easily taken out.

Good call. Since it was a challenge though, I'll leave it up there, and I have filled in the missing gaps for it. Another method is going inside the crane at the East Basin docks and waiting it out. I've stayed in there with a 5* Wanted level for well in excess of 150 minutes, because I left the game running and went shopping!

I have devised a new challenge of the same calibre-

Can you survive with a 5* (minimum) Wanted level out in the open (meaning no hiding in safe houses/buildings/cranes or anywhere it becomes impossible for the police to get to you)for in excess of 60 minutes, without using any heavy artillery weapons?

Should make for a bigger challenge, although I'm sure very doable.

so how does Bike Skill help you survive with a High Wanted level? just curious.

Bike Skill only decreases the chances of Carl falling off of the bike as much, and it also allows Carl to participate in Dirt Track (Stadium Event) once the skill-level is high enough, nothing else… it does nothing else to help Carl while riding a motorbike.

So unless you’re really bad at riding motorbikes and constantly fall off a lot, what’s the benefit?

I’ve been in 4 Wanted Levels several times without any Bike Skill, and it wasn’t any different than with full Bike Skill, except for the occasional cop slamming into Carl and knocking him off the bike, but there’s a skill in preventing that from happening, and that skill is not Bike Skill, it’s just personal experience.

Hm, I never thought about that to be honest. You are indeed allowed to use any vehicle, with these minor exceptions-

-Hunter
-Hydra
