Hello World,

I created this program to speed up the process of editing the handling.dat. It is tested and developed under windows Vista, and has not been tested on other systems yet. This is the first test release.

This program also includes a "bypass\backup" tool to allow the modifications of your handling.dat file to work in game. It basically edits your files.txt, and filelist.pak with a few easy clicks, so that you can bypass the security checks. The backup functions insure you always can return back to normal. It also verifies if your files are original or modified.

If you don't wish to use the "bypass" tool, you can still use the editor along side the "GTA Magic Mod", or any other mod that allows mods.

I will use this thread for any support issues you may have, and will release updates of this program with fixes, and more tools, in the future.

Hey thanks! Good to know. What's your operating system?

-Oh b.t.w, I just found 3 things I forgot to do before releasing the editor. I have fixed them and uploaded them to the same exact spot, and kept the same exact version number.

I forgot to add a command that will save changes for the animation panel to the "Save As" function. It was only saving animation values with the "Save" function. I fixed it now.

Also in the Backup\Bypass, when you clicked restore on two of the three file it didn't have a safety feature to allow you to "cancel" just in case you change your mind. This is fixed now.

So, even though you might not notice the changes, you should re-download the program. Sorry.

Another one! tounge2.gif
And I thought my upcomming application would be the first one.
Oh well, it will have so many features, it takes a little longer to create.

Here's the other one that was released just before yours, with the same name

BTW, your are kind of posting in the wrong forum.

Great tool, one question:

What is drive bias? Is it like 0 for RWD, .5 for 4WD, and 1 for FWD?
And random cars have values like .7 and .3 which would mean a modified 4WD right?

I just looked into this,
it is really great, and also gives a very good overview..

I must admit, one needs to make a list or you need to do info popups, whic describe every setting and it's effects. Like this, many things cannot be understood (sure that's not ur fault wink.gif

Yeah, I was going to add pop-ups or tool-tips for each value explaining the purpose, but I didn't want to be wrong right now. Once I re-figure out what everything does I will add it to the program in the next release. I also will do a flag handler in the updated version.

I myself just needed a quick tool to edit the data and learn it, I guess I can make it more user friendly for the rest. Check back on this thread, I will update it when I finish.

Thanks for the requests, I am open to discussion for improvements.

-quick note-

A lot of the values on GTA IV are the same as GTA SA, you can find many lists about that. But, I am certain there are a few changes, so I just wanted to make sure I was correct before releasing the information.

I appreciate this - thx a lot.

btw - are other files than handling.dat involved for the cars which could be added later to the tool?

I guess the long way will be an "Uber"-Tool which lets me load a *.dat or ide or whatever file where settings are saved...
But that would only make sense when the stuff is clear understandable smile.gif - and only if the tool gives a decent managemant to that vast amount.

For the time being this here is really great!

Just thought i'd ask, how does changing the handling affect multiplayer? or does it not?

interesting Question.

I guess it must as long as there are no separate setting files for MP.
Anybody knows if R* is somehow blocking modded versions to play MP?
