The Galactic Republic stood for generations as a bastion of peace in a galaxy of warring star systems. Protected by its stalwart Jedi guardians, the Republic held the greatest hope for the progress of civilization and galactic unity.
Deep in unknown space, however, a mighty Sith Empire was forged, led by dark Sith Lords who dreamt of galactic domination and vengeance against their ancient Jedi enemies. After centuries of preparation, the time came for the Sith to make their return.
With a massive fleet and an awe-inspiring army of fearless troops, the Sith Emperor launched a surprise assault, quickly capturing dozens of worlds in the Outer Rim, and sparking a war unlike any other in the galaxy’s history.
From the frozen wastes of Ilum to the desert plains of Dathomir, violent battles killed untold millions. Despite its avowed neutrality, surface structures on the water-covered world of Manaan were completely destroyed, forcing the Selkath to retreat to their ocean underworld. Other star systems fared worse—some destroyed, others left uninhabitable. The carnage concluded with the Sith Empire sacking the Republic's capital planet of Coruscant and forcing the Republic Senate into the controversial Treaty of Coruscant.
In the years since the treaty, fear and uncertainty have gripped the galaxy, enabling the Sith Emperor to pursue his own mysterious purposes while the Republic has made efforts to rebuild its infrastructure and adjust military priorities to the new galactic landscape.
Now, tensions between the Republic and the Empire are running high, and a series of border skirmishes and proxy wars have broken out, even on planets as historically peaceful as Alderaan. The uneasy truce established by the Treaty of Coruscant is quickly tearing apart at the seams, and a return to all-out war has begun in all but official terms.
A new generation of heroes, both light and dark, emerges to face the difficulties of these chaotic times, and fight for the fate of the galaxy in this most desperate age.

LucasArts and BioWare today announced that the first video documentary for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ will be posted on the game’s official website on Friday, December 12. The video gives an overview of the upcoming story-driven massively multiplayer online PC game set in the timeframe of the Star Wars™: Knights of the Old Republic™ franchise and provides the public with its first look at in-game footage.
So, the first game footage of SWTOR is being released today. roughly about 8-9 hours from the time of this post I think. I will admit that when I heard the follow up to the Kotor games was going to be an mmorpg I was very skeptical, but after watching the announcement video, seeing some screen shots and chatting amongst the community I have to say I'm f*ckin stoked for this game.
So I thought I would give SWTOR it's very own topic here on Gtaf for all of you die hard Star Wars/Kotor fans to discuss this game (and I know there is quite a few of you here!), which could turn out to be on of the most awesome gaming experiences ever. First off, what classes/races do you think will be playable in the game and what do you hope to be when you first create a character? I'm hoping for Mandalorian Bounty Hunters to be playable for obvious reasons.
Don't forget the first in game footage will be shown later today!
Discuss.

WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS SH*T....!?!?!?
No KOTOR III = Failure. Bullsh*t man, pure bullsh*t. I want my KOTOR III damnit.
That was me when I first found out about. I suggest you read up on it a bit.
The developers have said that this will be KOTOR III, IV, V etc. Plus, it is Bioware we are talking about here, the love the Knights games and universe just as much as we do.

So I get to play Star Wars with a bunch of 12 year old WoWers and Chinese gold farmers, and pay a subscription fee to do so? Oh yeah, I've always been waiting for that moment.
If there's a subscription fee (which there will inevitably be) they can keep it. If there's not, I'll get it, no doubt.

There are rumours going around that may in fact be free to play although Bioware have not made an official announcement. It's very unlikely though in my opinion and I would say there there will be a fee in some form.
Well if I buy the game I expect to be able to play it whenever I feel like playing it. I'm not paying any additional fee for any game. Call me cheap, but that's just one of my principles.
Buy the game - play it. Not buy the game - pay it, and again, and again...

Why don't you post something worthwhile instead of going into every particular mmorpg gaming topic on here and posting the same thing over and over again.
I think everyone does but alas this is what's coming to the plate instead. I have high hopes for this as it is Bioware were talking about as I've said before.
I'm anxiously awaiting to see the monthly price for this or if there will be one (not likely though). I can see this isn't going down well with anyone at all.

I would too, but there ain't sh*t that any of us can do about it. So we may just wait and see what happens with this, regarding free to play or monthly payment...

I'd rather have KOTOR III on 360.

If there's a monthly price, there will be private servers. Private servers means much more fun, so I suppose that's one thing I can look forward to.

Don't kid yourself, I've seen you post the same sh*t numerous time in WoW topics. In fact, why the f*ck would you even come back into this topic after your previous post?
Yeah, I thought so. f*ck off.
