umm, Systweak is a company that makes the memory app, SuperFetch is a service in Windows Vista..

and im 99.9% certain CacheBoost works in Vista, so.....

@MicroBit, becuase the theory isnt correct doesnt mean the thread is a failure.. the app works as i described in my own thread, so test it or go post "x2" to failures in another thread.

CEMEH_CEMEHbl4 thought it may be a legit/pirate problem, whether or not it is, he tried coming up with an explanation. so give him credit for trying, all you did was say "x2"..

Yes, CacheBoost works for Vista32 and helps the memory leaks and the giant 1-2 second cuts after 15 minutes of playing.

And Guys an advise: Dont play on low textures! I play at High textures and my performance is a lot better than on Low and medium. - Geforce 8800GT - 512MB. That's not logic, bur it's true. There is annoyng delay of appearing of the textures when set on High, but the game is playable. On low and medium textures I have smaller delays of the texture appearance but I have a significant drop down of the framerate and in some places the game cuts very hard. So if you didn't try play on High textures it will not hurt if you just try.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. go here and download Systweak CacheBoost program
its free for 30 days

I don't want to spoil the fun here, but should't we be looking for a more permanent freeware program.
This way you can only use this solution for 30 days. Would be a bummer if this solved your problem, and then dumps you back ditch.

What do you care? In 30 days there will be patch fixing memory. I also read about an alternative freeware program in this forum. I use Cacheboost because I'm sure that I will not use it after a week when patch will be already released.

For people like you that didn't understood the situation: Yes, superfitch repairs the texture problem, BUT after 10 minutes fills the RAM to 100% and causes the game to loose performance(the all-known memory leak) on Vista. So CacheBoost distributes memory lot better than superfetch and the problem is temporary solved.

Stop delude the others! It works fine.

It sounds like you are just getting higher FPS because you are rendering/showing less textures (because the high take longer to appear). You may be able to achieve the same effect by just reducing your view distance a bit with medium/low textures. This game is so CPU limited that you can probably get away with running high textures anyway though

I think higher textures means you need more RAM, which is a problem considering how GTA IV manages RAM usage (or rather, how it doesn't).

SuperFetch killed my FPS severely, but CacheBoost does not. Highly recommended.
