Anyone one forced vsync off and run under XP or under vista with "-DX9" flag at the end of the target shortcut at all? Whats your nvidia driver versions and also have you updated to the latest direct X (there was a small update this month). Are you installing on the same system drive? Are you using swap file in the same location. Im going to install on different drive than system when i get it and also swap file in separate drive also, got latest direct x and nvidia 180 drivers (I think beta are out too) .. betas are here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=279532You do have SP3 / XP SP1 right? Hav you tried playing not online and without the GFWL crap running in background? What about killing other processes too before start up? Also every screen shot I see everyone's ramped up to 100 for density and draw distance, I mean that would be full quad AI/Physics levels, have you tried keeping graphics up, dropping to say 1400x900 or 1280x1024 and then bringing traffic density down first and test, then draw distance & test .. whats fps then? @MODERATORS can we have some stickies please ... "Tweaks" "Nvidia bugs and reports" "ATI bugs and reports" "Screenshots Thread" etc etc. This post has been edited by GTAMonkey2012 on Dec 2 2008, 11:43

| QUOTE (Cojage @ Dec 2 2008, 11:45) | Wait i just read your brother has a 7900.
I have a 8600gt which is around the same, actually the 7900 is even better, so that means i cant even play it on low settings. Does he has the 256MB version of the 7900?
And on minimum, do you mean 1024x768 with draw distance etc. under "10", and what did you set the traffic slider onto?
Sorry but i want to know how it would run on my pc then if you cant even play it with a 7900, that is the minimum requirement and that card is better than my midrange 8 series card. | I've got a 7900GS go 256 mb, hope it will run. (Note, it is a laptop with 2.0ghz C2D, 2048mb ram)

| QUOTE (LeFtBehinD @ Dec 2 2008, 11:32) | Has anyone successfully got this game running smoothly?
My pc specs 2.1 dual core, 3.5gb ram, GTX260
The game runs terrible for me and my bro (slightly better specs) even on low settings! The visuals look amazing but the frame rate is a killer. To say this game has req specs of a geforce 7900 is a complete joke. Unless the GTX260 is a dud card, which im sure it isnt after i spent a good 2 weeks researching what card I could upgrade to specifically for this game.
I dont know what else I can try, unless there's word of a patch coming out to fix this, ill be refunding it within the week. | if it's one of the new 216 cores gtx 260's, it outperforms the 4870, and shouldnt have a problem, ive got one! http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1414&pageID=5839all these performance issues after waiting for the game for so long has spoilt it! my copy arrives tommorrow

Ok guys here's a better run down. My PC C2D 2.1 ghz 3.5gb ram GTX 260 896mb (latest nvidia drivers) Vista 32 bit (sp1 and updates) After updating to the latest drivers I have noticed some improvement and now I can actually play the game on medium settings (50 draw distance, 50 detail, 20-30 other stuff) 1680*1050 resolution (anything else looks crap). Keeping in mind the graphics go low - medium - high - very high - highest While this is somewhat good I was expecting a HELL OF A LOT MORE, performance wise. I dont have anything like fraps but I could guess that inside and empty areas the frame rate would be well above 30. As soon as a few cars come into screen it does drop right down and still get a fair few drops in frames when im driving around. Its playable for the meantime until they release something to improve performance. For all those out there with 7900 cards, I wish you good luck. Ha. Got it playing flawlessly on my GTX280, bitches. You guys just don't know how to tweak. I'm running on all settings max. FOR NVIDIA OWNERS ONLY, I DONT HAVE AN ATI CARD. Open the NVidia Control Panel. Go to the manage 3d settings. Go to "add application" or something. Find GTAIV PC exe. It should have settings like AA, LOD bias, Extended threading support, Gamma Antialiasing, Texture Filtering and Performance Mode. Tweak it, then play. Hope this helps.
