Apparently, Meghan Watt was either on the rag or just not a fan of the genre. Pretty much everyone else thought it was good.

metacritic - 8.9 overall
Gamespot - 9.0 Editor's Choice
IGN - 8.7

Everyone I've talked to who has played it thinks it's excellent. OXM has the lowest score of anyone by far on the metacritic list. I don't know what was up her ass when she wrote that.

Seriously, that confused me.

That is a very low score for a game getting good reviews across the board. And from OXM off all people, heh.

Dead Space executive producer Glenn Schofield stated in a Variety interview that a sequel is already on it's way. Gee, that was fast.

Installing now i've heard alot of good things about this game, I can't wait to see if it lives up to the hype. I also got the Anime movie of it last night too but i'm not going to watch it untill i've finished the game.

Yeah thats what i`m talking about 6.5!!! thats the real score for Dead space! Realy ... The controls sucks the missions are lame the monsters are the same and is verry borring!!! just like far cry2. MAJOR FAIL.

Yeah, that part was a bitch. If you're really stuck, there's a button cheat to refill your stasis. There's one for oxygen, too. Both are unlimited use and neither affect achievements.

Can't see what's wrong with it, it's currently my favourite game. Everything about it is very well done and there is nothing wrong with the controls, for once EA did something very good.

My only gripe with the controls was that in some cases, he didn't move quickly enough. There were a lot of times where you would be getting attacked from both sides and it would've been helpful if Isaac(sp?) was able to turn around quickly, or even roll out of the way. But I guess with what he's wearing, he wouldn't be able to do much of a roll anyway.

When running from enemies to try and get a better perspective of the fight, I would often find myself running into enemies, thus getting attacked. So I suppose the combination of the camera and the fluidity of the running seemed annoying sometimes. Especially when you have next to no stasis to be able to slow things down.

Anyway, I just beat it on Hard. Got most of the achievements it seems. I'll probably blaze through this a second time. I didn't buy all the weapons. I still need to buy the flamethrower, the pulse gun and the contact beam.

Despite what I mentioned above, I still thoroughly enjoyed this game.

I own the PC version, and there's nothing I can see wrong with it. Admittedly it did take some getting used to having a 3rd person over the shoulder camera but he walks fine, runs fine, can turn fast, etc. At least that's how I find the controls on the PC version. Maybe the consoles do have sh*t controls, if so, then sucks to be you I guess.

I just beat Chapter 6 - Hydroponics. Whoa. The game never really 'got to me' at first, but the hydroponics area scared the hell out of me. A very tense, uneasy, nervous feeling follows you throughout most of the level. Especially since you can hear the creepy Leviathan voice all over the place, hunters dropping out of the ceiling, and that big plant room where you get surrounded by like 6 necromorphs.

Took me a few tries to survive that room, but eventually I made my way to the Leviathan and kicked his ass on the first go.
