I was really interested until I'd used it for ten minutes, then I remembered why I tend to steer clear of anything that's still in beta.
I might have played with it a bit longer if the import passwords function worked for me at all, or if there was a way to easily organize the bookmarks bar thing (after importing them) other than dragging a few hundred bookmarks around, though that second one would have been unnecessary if it behaved for me as it said it should.
What's more, I don't see the point in having a browser specific "task manager" at all, but it seems especially useless if it's going to under report it's usage by a few thousand K. I also didn't care for it keeping a second "chrome.exe" process open even after I closed the browser.
And to be honest, it's actually much slower than Firefox 2 for me (at least on a page with many images), it sits there for a second doing nothing but saying "resolving host" in it's little status bar popup thing, then it loads very slowly.
Meh, I'll give it a shot again in the future, after they've had a bit of time to iron out some of the kinks.

| QUOTE (BlOoDStReAm101 @ Sep 2 2008, 22:17) | | I just realized that if you add a new tab, you will see that each tab is like an individual program running. Click alt, ctrl and delete and check Processes. You can see it for yourself. That...kind of sucks doesn't it? | Well, if you read the first page when you open Chrome, it's done to prevent crashing, so if one of the tabs crashes it won't take down the rest, like Firefox does... So, it's cool thing, regardless of how many processes it starts.

It's not supposed to 'beat' any browser, nor is it trying to win users/market share.
It's a conceptual browser, implementing various unique ideas (most of them under the hood). The main goal is to have at least some of the ideas implemented in other browsers, they encourage other developers to use it (the source) and play around with the concepts, and use it to enhance their own browser.
As for the browser itself, it's quite neat, javascript based web applications are extremely fast, like all google apps, (docs, gmail, calendar, etc), but also apps not made by google, like the mibbit webirc client. The separated processes for each tab is a great idea, a big issue with firefox is a plugin or javascript on a certain page to crash the entire browser, in Chrome, this happens: http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead.png (http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead.png) (http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead.png) http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead2.png (http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead2.png) (http://twozero.nl/dump/chrome_dead2.png) (yay no bbcode). I've been wanting something like this for ages, and I really hope other browsers will take the hint and try to implement it (although it'll require them to revamp their entire engine).

Well, I'm using it now, just a few minutes into it. I love the task manager thing, that's great. The way each tab is it's own process is nice, but I can see it racking up in the system pretty quickly. And I totally agree, it's noticeably faster than FF even. Spell check is great too, but FF has that. Incognito mode is a nice touch as well. You know, like the comic said, for when you're, uh... buying gifts. Of course, I'm sure by 'buying' they meant 'touching' and 'gifts' they meant 'your penis'.
I hate that I can't middle click and scroll, that's no good. Give me that, the ability to adjust the history (not view and erase, but set how much it stores, etc), adjust the recent book marks thing, etc etc, skins/themes, and some plug ins (mouse gestures!) and I'm good. Don't notice anything very bad about the scrolling.
Also, I was gonna see how this new fangled V8 java thingy does so I went to *http://www.enigmasand.com/pyro2.html (pyro sand 2) and it says no plugin found...? wtf? Don't get it.
