GTA2's map was 3D, from a topdown view

No, from what i know, GTA2 cities was in 3d. The rest wasn't.

And what happened to the other mod with GTA1/GTA2?

Missions can wait until the map is in its final place. Currently it's in the middle, but there are 2 more cities that need to be placed/connected.

No, It isn't stupid. Have you ever played GTA2? The city isn't completely flat, as you move the view of the buildings changes because of perspective - Just because the view is top down does not mean it is 2D.

The map itself is 3d, but peds/cars/pickups ect are 2d.
