Knowing not how to make a GTA cover doesn't deem you stupid at all.
I don't have time to get into full details and all, but what you wanna do is make some sort of "template" with all the boxes (where the pictures are to be inserted, like the cover art) and afterwards place in every single picture in each box making sure they don't overlap over the other boxes. Once that's done you can add the logo in the middle. |
Thx! I'll try that. BTW, what software do you use? Is it fine if I use Paint.NET? Thx again! |
I actually used Paint.NET prior to using Photoshop (which is what I use currently) actually. Matter of fact my first cover art was made with Paint.NET, so of course it's fine. If you want I can post up a tutorial on how to make a cover art using Paint.NET. It's relatively easy to do so once you get the hang of the basics of it.

Here's a tutorial for those who want to make a GTA cover by using Paint.NET 1.Open up Paint.NET and go to image > resize and change the dimensions to 356x538 pixels (which is what I'm using. you don't have to use that if you want. fiddle around with the dimensions if you'd like.) 2. Go to layers > add new layer. 3. With the line tool make a bunch of boxes like so (on the new layer of course). I used a brush width of 2 pixels, you can use whatever width you'd like. Tip: CTRL+D to deselect after making a new line. 4. Okay now it's gonna get a bit tricky from here. First of all, make a new layer and place it under the first new layer you had made in step 2 ((in your layers window click on Layer 3 which is the default name of the new layer you made and click on the blue arrow button in the bottom to place it under the first new layer (layer 2)) 5. Now it's time for the pictures. Just for an example I'm gonna use this one. What you wanna do is right click the picture (assuming you're on windows) and click copy image. Then, go back to Paint.NET and CTRL+V in order to paste the image. When you paste the image this popup will come up. Click on 'Keep canvas size' and the picture will be pasted onto the canvas with the option to allow you to resize the picture making for better configuration. Adjust your image to which box you want it to be in like so. Note: the picture is to be placed on Layer 3. 6. Next, click on Layer 2 (the default name of the layer where the boxes are) and with the wand tool simply CTRL CLICK the surrounding boxes of the box where you want your first picture to be placed. 7. Go to layer 3, and simply click the Delete button on your keyboard. This is the result. 8. Simply put, in order to get all your other pictures in, you'd do the same as steps 4 to 7 and continue doing so. For step 4 though, instead of placing your new layer on top of Layer 2 (the boxes), you'd place it on top of layer 3 (click on layer 3 and then click new layer in the layers button). After that do the same as steps 5 to 7 and after you're all done you should have something like this (example). 9. ... and of course for the finishing touch, you add the GTA logo (in this case I'm adding the GTA V logo of course). And that's pretty much it. By the way, for those who don't want to stick with those jagged lines, I can't really help with that without using this plugin. Clickyand of course you're gonna need to know how to install them.. HOW TO INSTALL PAINT.NET PLUGINS. Once it's installed, go back to Layer 2 (ASSUMING YOU SAVED YOUR COVER ART AS A PDN FILE PRIOR TO SAVING IT AS A JPEG/PNG ETC...) and go to Effects > Object > Outline object and once you've configured your settings you'll end up with something like this.
