 Welcome to the GTA:IV Multiplayer F.A.Q. Have a question about multiplayer modes, ranks, etc? They will be most likely be answered here. Warning. The following may contain spoilers. Continue at your own risk.Contents| How do I access multiplayer? |

| To access multiplayer, press 'up' on the analog pad to access the phone. Then scroll down to multiplayer. Then choose the game mode you want. (Game modes will be discussed further on in the F.A.Q.) You can then either choose from ranked matches or player matches. |
| What are the game modes? |

| There are a total of 15 game modes, that can have a max of 16 players. The modes consist of, | Team Deathmatch
Players work together, killing the other team gaining money. The team with the most money at the end of the game wins.
Supports 2-8 teams. | Team Mafia Work
Work as a team to complete tasks such as, stealing cars, escorting wanted men, and more. Each task completed by your team gains money. The team with the most money at the end of the game wins.
Supports 2-8 teams. | Team Car Jack City
Cars are parked around the selected game area and the teams must steal them and take them to a drop-off point. The amount of cash you get depends on the condition of the car, unless the car is filled with drugs. The team with the most cash at the end of the game wins.
Supports 2-8 teams. | Cops N' Crooks
The Crooks Team must get their boss to the drop-off point while the Cops must kill the boss. Teams win if either the boss is killed or the boss gets to the drop-off point. This consists of 2 sub-modes.In All-for-One there are 2 teams, Crooks and a Boss and the other is Cops. The Cops must kill the boss while the Crooks must get him to safety.
In One-for-All there are the same 2 teams but no boss. The Cops must kill all the Crooks and the Crooks must get to a getaway vehicle. Only 4 people can fit in the getaway vehicle. There is no respawning in this mode.
Supports 2 teams. | Turf War
A capture the flag type mode, similar to the Domination mode from Call of Duty 4. Two teams must capture the bases by standing near them. The more teammates standing near the base, the faster it gets captured. The more bases your team has captured, the more cash your team gets. The team with the most cash at the end wins.
Supports 2 teams. | Hangman's Noose
This mode is different from all the other modes. It is a co-op story mode mission. Mafia boss Petrovic has flown into Francis International Airport and you must escort him to safety while being chased by the N.O.O.S.E. team.
Supports 2-4 players. | Bomb Da Base II
You and the other players must take explosives from a convoy, put them on a helicopter, plant them on a ship and then watch them explode.
Supports 2-4 players. | Deathmatch
Free-for-All. You must kill all other players in the location chosen by the host. You gain cash from killing other players. The player with the most cash at the end of the round wins.
Supports 2-16 players. | Mafia Work
Just like Team Mafia Work, without the teams. You must complete the tasks set-up by Kenny Petrovic. You gain cash by completing tasks. The player with the most cash at the end wins.
Supports 2-8 players. | Car Jack City
Just like Team Car Jack City, without teams. You must steal the target cars and take them to the drop-off point. You get cash by delivering the cars to the drop-off point. The better condition the cars is, the more cash you get. The player with the most cash at the end wins.
Supports players | Deal Breaker
You and your team must go to where the drug dealers are meeting and rip them off. You must kill all witnesses.
Supports 2-4 players. | Free Mode
Free-roam around the city with friends. No score, no objective, no rules. The rules are determined by the host. There are some limitations. You cannot,- Buy food, clothes, weapons.
- No mini games like pool, darts, bowling, etc.
- No mini missions like, vigilante, taxi, etc.
- No getting drunk.
- No picking up hookers.
- No using public transportation like taxis, train, etc.
Supports 1-16 players. | Race
Race to the finish by going through the checkpoints in order. What vehicles you use are determined by the host, as is the race track. There are two sub-modes, Free Race and Cannonball Run.
Free Race is a point to point race. Cannonball Run is a race where you must go through the checkpoints to win.
Supports 2-16 players. | GTA Race
Similar to Race only you are able to use weapons. To obtain weapons you must drive over them to pick them up. Hold LT (xbox) or R2 (PS3) to drop your weapon. You can only hold one weapon at a time.

| How can I customize my character? |

| In story mode access the phone, go to multiplayer and scroll down to 'Player Model'. Then customize as you wish. You can also customize your character in the game lobby, by hitting triangle (PS3) or Y (xbox). |
| Are there any online achievements? |
|---|
There are a total of 10 online achievements. They can only be unlocked in ranked matches. They are,- Teamplayer - 10G
Kill 5 opposing team members in Team Deathmatch. - Top Of The Food Chain - 10G
Kill 20 players with a pistol in a ranked deathmatch. - Cut Your Teeth - 5G
Rank up once. - Join The Midnight Club - 10G
Win a ranked multiplayer race without damaging your vehicle too much and with damage enabled. - Fly The Co-op - 15G
Beat our time in ranked versions of "Deal Breaker", "Hangman's NOOSE" and "Bomb da Base II". - Taking It For The Team - 10G
Be on the winning team in all ranked multiplayer team games. - Top The Midnight Club - 20G
Come first in 20 different ranked standard multiplayer races. - Wanted - 20G
Achieve the highest personal rank in multiplayer. - Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic - 30G
Win all ranked multiplayer variations, all races and "Cops 'n Crooks", as both sides. - Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie - 10G
Kill a Rockstar developer in a ranked multiplayer match.

| How do I rank up? |

| You rank up by gaining cash in RANKED game modes. You cannot rank up from player matches. Every time you rank up you gain more clothes for your multiplayer character. |
| Can I use cheats online? |
|---|
| No you cannot for obvious reasons (unfair players). That also means you cannot call random phone numbers, like 911 and phone numbers for companies. |
| How do I get the zombie character? |
|---|
PS3: You get it from killing another person who has the suit.
360: You must kill a Rockstar developer.
To access the outfit go to Player model > then hit L1 or LB. |
| How much cash do I need to rank up? |
|---|
Rank 1: $1,000
Rank 2: $10,000
Rank 3: $50,000
Rank 4: $100,000
Rank 5: $250,000
Rank 6: $500,000
Rank 7: $750,000
Rank 8: $1,000,000
Rank 9: $2,500,000
Rank 10: $5,000,000

| How do I play ranked games with my friends? |

| When you select 'multiplayer' on the phone, click 'party mode'. Then it should load you on the map. Then invite the people you want in your game. Now all you have to do is go to phone and hit ranked, then the game mode you want. |
| Which is better Auto-Aim On or Off? |
|---|
| While many people debate that Auto-Aim turned off creates a more rich and skillful gameplay experience, Auto-Aim is purely player preference. |

I was going to suggest to add more "in-depth" info for some modes, but I guess that isn't necessary, unless you get people who can't follow simple directions and objectives in the game. (for example in Deal Breaker where there's guys getting away on a boat and you have to get on the water yourself and chase them down)
