Should I kill Dimayev in "portrait of a killer"?

You don’t have a choice for him, you must kill him for the story to progress.

weird, he's flashing blue an red. I thought that was only when you could choose.

When you say he was flashing blue and red, do you mean the target when you were locked onto him? If so this is the indicator for a special execution.

'scuse the bump of this but I'm on my second playthrough and just noticed the reticule flashing between blue and red as I pulled the trigger.
I'm tempted to reload and do it again on the off chance I can see what happens if I spare him... unless anyone else has done so and can tell me.
Can't find a reference to it anywhere else on the net. Anyone know???

The flashing reticle means you can execute him, you CANNOT spare him. Your only choice is to execute him with a pistol or kill him with something else. Dimayev must die, simple as that.

Figured it was an execute/spare option but I'd already popped him before I registered what was happening.

If you aim at his head and shoot, it will be a one shot kill. If you aim at his lower body, Niko will shoot him down and empty a whole mag into his chest and back. At least that was, what it did when I tried...

Besides, it's all only morality anyway, the only time it makes a difference is at the last mission.

im late but u actually can spare him i just did the mission....the redicule was flashing blue/red, iwalked away and passed the mission so i guess u can spare him

You NEVER get to spare him, you actually get to kill or spare one of his goons,
