The Build Up Your Gang forum story game has been an icon in the GTAForum community for well over 5 years now. We are proud to present Build Up Your Gang once more. The concept of this is not hard, you simply pick a Gang and one of its Asset you then write stories for that gang and asset. You will receive $$$ for the stories you write. Better stories means more $$$ (no one said length was a bad idea either) We hope you’ll take part in the fun Yours Truly The BUYG Staff

Rules for the Build Up Your Gang thread
1. If you cannot come up with a complete thought please dont bother posting what you have at all. Just save it in notepad or word or something and come back with a complete story.
2. In addition to rule 1, please don't post half of a story and say you will be back to update it later as this can cause confusion to those that have to grade your stories.
3. To make it easier on us please check your spelling and grammar carefully as it makes it harder for us to read and grade them with multiple errors.
4. Please refrain from "flaming" other members as this will get this topic one of those neat, but unneeded, locks.
5. Most importantly if you need any help or assitance with writing/brainstorming/developing stories or if you feel the need to comment on the thread then please contact me with your opinions/expressions/concerns/problems. In addition to this if you feel that rule 4 had been broken please contact us before taking any action yourself.
6. Conversation is allowed in the topic. But refrain from going off topic.
7. NO DOUBLE POSTING, just edit your initial post.
8. We the BUYG Staff reserve the right to ban you from the topic if you break any of the rules. No exceptions.
9. Please refrain from cluttering up the topic, any questions regarding purchases, gang wars, cash, story count, ect. please PM me with all your questions.

Some general guidelines to follow when participating in this thread
1. DO NOT use weapons that your gang doesn't own and the same goes for vehicles. However keep in mind that when you purchase something for the gang anyone that is in that gang can use that item now.
2. The vehicles listed in red can only be used after a total of 20 stories have been written within your gang. You cannot use these vehicles before that condition is met.
3. If all of your gangs' properties have been occupied, you can buy more land for your gang. If you want a property in a city where you already have properties, it will cost $200. If you want to expand into a new city, it will cost $350. You may not purchase land that is already owned by another gang.
4. If the entire gang is idle for a week then so become their assets and their assets will look like this (Distillery (Alcohol)(daily Income $10) a idle asset means that the daily income will not be given until someone in the gang becomes active again. Active being an actual posted story that meets the rules above.
5. You can also take over property but it will cost you triple($600) what it would for a regular property. Also needed is the consent of the person who owns it and if no one owns it then you need the consent of the member of the gang who has been there the longest. Half the money will go to the gang the other half will just be taken away.
6. As of 5/31/08, if you decide to switch gangs, your old story count will be bracketed ( ) and you will start afresh with a new story count. The bracketed story count will be the sum of all your story counts from all the gangs you've joined, and the bracketed story count is used for bonuses such as the Multiple of 5 bonus, etc. See this post for more details.

Gang Wars
1.) The gang that was attacked must form some solid reason (in an official post, in total character) about who they believe did it and why or how they're going to retaliate. This will be a Declaration.
2.) The two gangs meet with someone assigned to make all the formalities, write down what assets can't be blown to hell, what characters they don't want dying, anything agreed upon. But, at the same time, the other person must agree and get another favor in turn. Say if The Haitians don't want a specific drug-factory destroyed, the Cubans must accept it and not have one of their assets destroyed in return. Each gang is given a total of FIVE REQUESTS before the war begins. The lead characters will automatically be safe from being killed or from serious injury (unless agreed upon before the war starts).
3.) They go to war in their next story (that's right ONE story per person per gang), a panel of judges (The BUYG staff) will judge on a combination of four things: 1. Who writes the best story 2. Whose is the most reasonable 3. Who plotted theirs out strategically 4. Who made the clearest victory within their story If it's close, the decision will be given to an independent source for the tie-breaker.

Gta Gamer.'s Guide To A Successful Story. �2004

So ya wanna be a wiseguy storywriter eh? You think you gotta the balls? Hmm riiiight. I just thought seeing as my stories are so fantastic and all I'd write up a little quide for the new comers, maybe some of the veterans but generally we all write pretty well. Um I don't advise that any teachers on the board try to use it in their classes. Without permission of course. See copyright ^^

Step 1: Storyline - research key elements. Use tried and tested ideas. We've all seen the occasional gangster flick, so remember the sort of stuff you see in that, then come up with your own elements. I drew alot of inspiration from The Sopranos and GoodFellas which makes sense seeing as I was writing for the mob. Make it interesting but don't make up a heap of unbelievable bullsh*t. For eg. 'I pulled out of the parking lot and 50 niggaz with AK rocked up and started attacking me" is not going to win you any awards. Remember to plan the story to at least a few chapters ahead. Make sure you have all the key events planned for a while, then you'll be able to write to a plan and not run out of ideas.

Step 2: Location - Visualise the location you're writing in. For example in the story where my characters attacked a Triad convoy I (in San Andreas) looked for a good place to do it that made sense. I drove around Venturas figuring out routes for the characters to travel, I went and looked at the layout of Caligula's, where the other casinos were, I looked at maps of the city for pieces of writing.

Step 3: Typing - Always use Microsoft Word, or an equivalent to it, when writing your stories. It checks spelling and grammar and is easy to correct things. It also acts as a back-up if anything ever goes wrong. Here's what could go wrong when not using it: QUOTE -So CJ is back on the block but whit bad news.Apparently he was gambling in LV at the 4 Dragons Casino and lost all of his money.Now he returns whit 15$."What the hell nigga!Whats this f*cking candy bar money!?" -Sweet ravaged."I told you Sweet , I lost the money gambling! THere was this ho and she wanted me to..""WHAT NIGGA!You lost our money over a ho!!?!Damn whose dick is getting us into trouble now." -Sweet getting even more pissed ,"Yeah i no bro ,..But she had killer knockers!" - Cj replied."Damn you nigga , damn you to hell..." -Sweet said and walked away leaving cj whit a confused look on his face.Sweet asked me to go hit on a Balla dope spot whit some OGF Members.So i took Curly Joe , Fat Sugga and Lil Fox and we headed out to the balla dope spot round the corner.Obivously we had no heat so we had to use our fists.Then Curly noticed a drug dealer whit a heater!.We walked up to him and i said :"Yo homie whatya doin?":The yayo pusher replied"I got what you need brotha pure stuff".When we were chatting curly and suga sneaked behind him and grabbed him.We dragged him behind a tall wooden fence and gave him a beating he wont forget.I picked up his Colt 9mm and checked the ammo."Shiit only 6 bullets" well we decided i would go in and blast on those fools.So i went to the door and knocked .A balla came to the door , obivously he was high on weed."You sup homie?" He said."F00L YOu're and your ballas broz are going down.Curly and the posse grabbed him and beat him up while i went in.Inside there was a broken down wall.No furniture at all expect for a rusty iron bed and a toared up sofa.There were 6 ballas in the room all whitout a strap- How convinient.I pulled out the Colt and popped a bullet in each of theyr head.No resistance as they were too high.We headed back to grove and grabbed some beers. Now that is shocking.

Step 4: Layout - I found that the best way to do it is to have all action sequences in separate paragraphs. For example when going from one day to the next, leave a space between paragraphs. Put speech onto a new line unless it's the same person talking e.g. "So anyway he says he wants to whack this guy," Jason said. "And that he reckons he'll do it soon." Oh, just a note by the way, with speech brackets " " the correct way to portray a sentence is, "insert writing here," he said. The comma goes before the close speech bracket and the fullstop after he said or any other suitable adjective. When using a question mark or exclamation mark at the end of the dialogue, the following word, unless it's a proper noun, should start with a lower case letter. E.g. "What are you talking about?" he asked. [or] "What are you talking about?" Mike said. Don't use he said, she said all the time either. Stuff like he asked, she replied, Joe shouted, Jane yelled. Put adjectives to describe the way they said it, or what they're doing as they say it. e.g. "F*ck that," he said loading his gun. "Are you joking?" He replied, shocked. Don't simply do a "I went here and did this, afterwards I did that. He did that so I did this" kind of storyline. Elaborate! Description is the key to a good story. Describe everything, it adds to the imagery and allows the reader to visualise the events of the storyline. And! You get more money for it too! Um so yeah. Just doing my part to try and help. Remember! Quality over quantity. A descriptive, short story is often better than a long, boring one lacking in description.

All the coding has been fixed, a few things changed and switched.
I tried to add all the users to their respectfull gangs to my full knowledge.
A few gangs are missing, along with most of the weapons. Some of the prices are off, so for now all properties are not for sale until i get to fixing the prices. Hopefully by the end of the week everything will be fixed.

Chapter Nine : Back to the set



From the start of the morning, ive had this tought waving around my mind. I was thinking to ask Salvatore to go to Los

Santos with me and John. When i had the courage to look at my clock & calendar, i realised it was already 12 pm. I had

a little breakfast, packed my things and went to Salvatore. It felt like i was driving forever, even thou i was only 3

miles away from the mansion. When i arived, i saw Salvatore writing something down.

"Good Morning, Salvatore."

"Hey, Luke."

"I was wondering, would you like to go back to LS with me and John? To sort some things out."

"Strange, i was thinking the same thing."

"You were?"

"Yes, i even got some airlines tickets reserved."

This was my lucky day, only thing left was to ask John.

"You drive Luke, lets go pick up John."

When we went to John and asked him, he was suprised and agreed the same second. I left him to pack and went down so i

can check us out of the hotel.
Went to return my car, then to the airport. John and me were suprised when we saw that Salvatore reserved 1st class

tickets.

"Here we go boys, neyt stop : Los Santos!" said Salvatore

"Excuse me, mr. Salvatore, but i think LS gangs taken over our houses!" i said to him

"Way ahead of you. See those guys in the back rows, there all Leones. We got the guns over the line easy."

I was suprised, he never reacted so quicktly. The flight was pretty soft. When we arived, i was happy couse i was

gettin dizzy. We took a car and drove of to the Groove. Everything looked the same, except the Ballas everywhere. Mr

Salvatore gave us AK's and let us out, followed by the Leones.

"Die you motherf*cking peace of sh*t gangbanging cocksuckers!"

"NEVEEEEEEEER!" they yelled at us

"You will wish you havent said that. Die fools!" i replyed NICELY

Bullets started coming out of both sides. After 10 minutes there was a pool of balla blood on the floor. The hood was

taken back. John and me left our things in our houses. Next up was Emmets yard. Luckily it wasnt balla territory, it

was still ours.

"Man, we could turn this place into a weapon/drug factory. We only need the machines.", Salvatore said

"Hmm, not a bad idea. But first lets find Sweet and CJ." i said and dialed his number



"Hello, who is this?"

"Hey CJ, its me Luke."

"Oh, watsup homie?"

"Where are you? I just arrived to LS, me,John and the Leones took the hood back!"

"Hell yea! You ice cold dogs. Will come to the hood, then we can talk."

The guys liked what the hurd. We went back to the Groove and went to sleep.

The Triads - Belly Up Fish Factory - Introduction

"My name is Kang. I was brought here from China, smuggled in a large sack of rice. Damn that was an uncomfortable journey. The quality of living is much better here. I have alot of room in the back of my fish van to sleep at night, and in the morning I can wash myself in the ocean. I really like American women. There is alot of them around most times, they stand on the corners or walk up and down. They wear nice clothes, high skirts and long boots. I think they like me too. They call me Chink, I don't know who he is, maybe they mistake me for somebody else. I have a job at the Belly Up Fish factory. Usual hours are 6am until 9pm. On the weekends I go to kung fu lessons. Hopefully I will become a black belt."

The sun is slowly rising, far out at sea. In a factory courtyard a workforce assembles. A bunch of scruffy looking asian men stand in a line, as an older, well dressed asian man walks amongst them, performing a head count. The man spends a moment using his fingers to add up, then appears satisfied with his conclusion. He picks out four of the men and orders them to stand to one side. They are slow to follow his orders. "Ok! The rest of you, the usual routine, you know what to do!" The crowd doesn't move and continues to stand and stare. "C'mon you shower of sh*te! Get in that factory and get to work!" The crowd responds now. They all rush off into the doors of a large building, leaving an old man straggling behind, limping his way after them.

Kang looks about himself. Why have he and three other men been seperated from the group? There is Dong, a man who towers over the rest, who sailed all the way from China in a rubber dinghy. He has a physique like an American pro wrestler. Kang wonders if he might be related to the Yeti. He too has been picked out, and now stands beside Kang. Also, there are the twin brothers, Li and Yi. They deserted from the Chinese military and are now outlaws in their native land. They came to Liberty City the same way as Kang, in a sack of rice. They never seem to leave each others side. Kang wonders if they travelled in the same sack.

The well dressed man, earlier seen giving the orders comes marching over to the four men. "Right, you four. I have a different kind of work for you today. Someone upstairs needs a package picking up at Portland docks later today, and it just so happens you've got the job." Huh? What the f*ck's this guy talking about? Kang wonders to himself. Upstairs? "Li and Yi, I hear you two have got experience with machine guns? I suggest you familiarize yourselves with these then." The man flings two Uzi 9MMs in the general direction of the twins. One hits Yi in the face and knocks him to the floor. Yi lets out a high pitched scream. He dusts himself off and quickly scrambles back to his feet, a large swelling developing between his eyes. "Dong and Kang, you two are better off with something a little more simple, take these." The man hands them both a Colt .45.

Chapter 10 : Building fear


When i got into Sweets house, i saw the guys talking about some machinery.

"Hey Luke, today is the day!" said Sweet

"Day for what?"

"Day when we get some machinery and get that yard to its top."

"Alright, but where are we gonna get it?"

"Whoe,whoe relax. We first need to get a gate and a roof."

"There is a construction firm, they got theyre offices in Vinewood. On the other end of the city." Salvatore joined in

"Oh, i got it. We go and scare theyre asses so theyl build it for free!" Cj said

"Sure, im down." i told them

We got in the car and drowe off. It was damn hard finding it, but when we found it, it felt like a huge rock dropped

from me.

I pointed the gun at the director, "Why hello, Mr. Director."

"What do you want? Anything just dont kill me!"

"Actually, we had something in mind."

"Name it, will build it."

"We need a gate and a roof put on a yard. Its surounded with walls, only one part is empty. Thats where the gates come

in."

"We can do that."

"And, once the gate is finished. We need a roof on top of it. A curved one perhaps."

"You got it.", you could almost smell the fear in his voice

"We will be going now Mister..." i looked at his nametag. "Mister Jake."

"Oh and, the location of the yard. Its in Willowfield, in it there is a blown up car and a trash container. Go check

it out!", CJ finally said something

We got in the car and drove back to the Groove. I had this large feeling of acomplishing something.


"Ey niggas, is the construction sh*t settled?", Sweet asked same second when we came

"Roof and gate settled. Next up is the machinery." i replyed

"Salvatore and I are going to LC now. We are going to take some o his machinery for drugs and weapons." Sweet said

"You and CJ stay with John and clean up that yard of yours." Sal said

This is my first try to write a fan-fic. So please say anything that can help me!

Chapter One: A New Life

The ghetto never seems to change in a long time. Hookers are still roaming the streets looking for clients. Wannabe-gangstas are still listening to rap in there low-riders. Yet, change is the only permanent thing. Three years ago, The Ballas reigned over Los Santos. Grove Street were almost gone thanks to the base-slangin' pushers. Crime remained rampant all over the city with drive-bys and robbers, who robbed because of there addiction. All that changed with CJ coming home. I won't go into details since it's a long story all over again. He changed everything in almost a month.

I was only twenty one back then having just finished my third year from College. My family and I were living the good life in the Richman district; but bad luck happened to us. My dad was car-jacked and shot through the head when he was driving through Verona Beach. A witness said that it was one of those Ballas that did it. He, being the only source of income in our household died. My mother and I moved to Willowfield.
It was a sh*tty neighborhood, I couldn't sleep because of the gang wars and the sirens of the police. I tried looking for a job with a steady income; but I only ended as a cashier at the nearby Cluckin' Bell. Life wasn't great in those times; but it wasn't bad either. I had a few friends in my neighborhood, all of them belonged to a gang called Grove Street. I never knew all the gangs in Los Santos, all I knew about is the Ballas since they always hangout at Market. Richman was pretty far from Ganton so I never saw a GSF member from here. They told me all these stories about there gang, like being the dominant gang in all of Los Santos in the late 80's.

One day, while I was working at Cluckin' Bell, A few Ballas came in, there were at least 5 of them, almost robbed us blind. Good thing that a coincidence happened and some GSF came over at the right time. A shoot-out has taken place and only one Ballas managed to get out of the place.
One of the GSF's talked to me.

"You look familiar, do you live somewhere in Willowfield?"

"Yeah, I live next to the Low-rider shop."

"Then you must know about Dre and JD. They always hangout at the shop talkin' about cars and sh*t"

"They're my friends, they also belong to Grove Street right?"

"Uh-huh, Hey boy, whats your name by the way"

"Cameron."

"Cameron?!? sounds like a cracka's name!"

"I only moved about a month ago from Richman."

"Oh, well maybe we could hangout together, the name's Ryder, I live in Ganton. Anyway, we gotta bounce, some sh*t to take care of"

After that day, my life changed forever....
